Nice Fall Outing
Travel to Hilton Head repeatedly to enjoy playing multiple courses. Shipyard has a unique layout that allows you to play three different nine holes. While almost every hole has water, most players have a chance at par. But that doesn’t mean that birdies are easy to come by. My partner makes sure they have extra water balls too… Because there’s No Way they’re going near to the water because of the silent but deadly Gators that lurk around.
The greens are in incredible shape. You definitely have to have a delicate touch as your ball will roll a long way. Green side bunkers are soft and are challenging with a variety of depths that ensure that part of your game better be ready. They are also positioned in ways to make the openings to the greens narrow .
While we enjoy playing as many courses possible, this is one that I’m ready to squeeze in again!
Great course and very helpful staff.
Excellent hospitality at the Pro shop desk and the bag drop. The course was in great condition and very playable from the tees.
Also, I accidentally left my bag at the course and when I returned the next morning the staff had stored my clubs for me for pickup.
I highly recommend this course.
Great experience
Staff was excellent. Course in great shape. Again, no drinking water on the course. Older/senior guests need water.
I rated this course good but it was at the top of the good rating. Staff were very friendly. It was a great golfing day for our group. Pace was about 4 1/2 hours but that has become the norm at resort golf.
Great course for any level of golfer.
Shipyard was a wonderful course to play. It was in beautiful condition and well maintained. Our foursome was a senior foursome and from the up tees we could have a great experience with an opportunity for some success if we hit quality shots. More accomplished golfers will find a better challenge playing from the back tees. We completely enjoyed our trip around Shipyard and highly recommend it for any level of golfer.
Rental clubs
Sent my clubs thru ShipSticks. Clubs never showed up untill 3 days into vacation. Had to rent clubs, buy balls, glove. All equipment was excellent Callaway Rogue woods and irons. Great pro shop.
Love this course
I don't have a single complaint about the course. The only flaw was the refreshment cart person totally ignored us twice and we only saw her twice during 18 holes.
Enjoyable Round!
The Shipyard experience has really improved over the past year. It seems like the management has really made a concerted effort to improve the course and overall experience. Kudos to Shipyard on the tine and effort they've put into improving their product. Will play again in June!
Pace of play
Our Group let two players play through.
Instead of hurrying them along we were the ones that got in trouble. It was uncomfortable enough for my wife and I to quit after 9. The staff was courteous and refunded the remaining 9 wholes.
Best Greens
Best Greens I've played since I've been here. Beautiful course great Layout lots of extras cart girl, bucket of balls and a good starter and Marshall. Had new Golfers in front of us but he managed to keep them going. Said 2hours and 15 for 9 and that s what it was. Highly recommend this especially with the fall price. Thumbs up
Solid HHI Course
Great weather, great course conditions. Lots of dog legs. Fun course. The price I paid ( under $100) is actually good for the area. Booked on GolfNow the day before. In season can be $40 - $50 more to play mornings. Cheaper after noon.
Surprised
Was warned the pace might be slow, but the pace was 4:20. I'm a very fast player so the pace always challenges me patience wise. But here the pace was fine. The conditions, considering the overseeding season were very good. Staff friendly. I would have like to see a beverage cart more often, but every course is having the same issue finding help. Value for the money is great.
