About

Holes 18
Type Resort
Par 72
Length 6878 yards
Slope 133
Rating 74.0

The Clipper/Galleon Course at Shipyard Golf Club, which combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property, creates an exciting combination of long fairways and perilous hazards. Clipper/Galleon has a rating of 74, with a slope of 133 from the championship tees.

With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. Designed by George Cobb and built in 1970, Clipper requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.

Galleon, the original nine holes, meanders through large oak and tall pines. Accurate placement of approach shots into heavily guarded greens is necessary on this nine.

Rude staff, rough condition, not worth the money

The course primary starter who greeted us was incredibly rude. While the proshop and secondary starter were very nice, the initial greeting set the tone for the round. A simple question about where the driving range was or where to get a bucket of balls was met with a rude, short response as if it was a question that was such an inconvience to answer.

The tee boxes were in rough shape. Many of the greens were full of fungus. While they talk about pace of play, they stack up starting times so on many holes we had three groups backed up on a given hole. There are a ton of other courses on the island. Recommend playing elsewhere.

Staff was not friendly

The starter was short and rude to us when we asked where to go and we heard him be that way with other people. The guy checking us out was also rude and sarcastic to not just us but the people in front of us. The course was nice but when you’re on vacation playing golf you expect the staff to courtesy and helpful.

Wonderful Course

It's been about a year since I last played Shipyard but as always it was great. Fairways and greens were aerated 2 weeks ago and still had lots of sand on the greens but were very playable and will be great once it settled back in. I got a great "HOT DEAL" price so it was well worth the money. Highly recommend this place.

Course was not in great shape. Not sure what is going on. Played it twice before and was in great shape. Fairways burned out. Greens were ridiculously slow and Number 2 Clipper know one told us their was a temp green. Kinda dissapointed.

A nice day

We had a very nice day at Shipyard Golf Club. The layout of the golf course is enjoyable, with a few water hazards and bunkers that make the round interesting without being too difficult. The fairways were a little dry in some areas, but overall the course was still in good condition.

The pace of play on the first nine holes was quite slow, but it improved a lot on the back nine.

The staff at the pro shop and the bag drop were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Overall, we enjoyed our round and had a great day at this golf course.

Over priced

Front nine conditions and pace on the Galleon was good,

Back nine on the Clipper course was below par in both conditions and pace

greens and tee boxes needed work on the majority of holes.

Not worth it for money, many other courses in the area to pick from

Staff was very friendly

Little Rough

Liked the layout, some of the greens were below average with dead spots and new sod on the greens and fringe areas. Tee boxes were meh and thought the course would be greener at this point but the area has been in a drought. My first time at HH and Ship Yard and like it but not overly impressed.

Enjoyed the round overall. It’s overpriced in my opinion. Not as nice of a course as others that cost me $200 to play.
