Course okay.
Signed up as a single and was paired up with one other player. Nice guy. Parts of course were undergoing some construction but we were told to drive in fairways, so not a huge deal. Staff very friendly.
Covid
With. Covid I would rather not be put with other players I did not know.
Also none of the starters had on masks, even though it’s a law in Hilton Head.
Yesterday did not live up to years that have past.
After years away from this gem I was mostly disappointed in not knowing about the on going construction and the overall condition of the course. I intentionally signed up to play a certain routing. I was informed at the course that one of those two nines was closed. The best part was the condition of the greens rolling pretty true until the ninth hole when the last 10 were heavily sanded.
While I applaude shipyard in the reinvesting to bring the course back up to speed with bunker renovations and new drainage the course should not be open leaving the golfer less than pleased with their experience. Shipyard is near and dear to my heart and I will return someday just not this Time while I’m here.
Winter golf at Shipyard
It was a two to three layer cool day when last played. Good company and some sunshine. The course was undergoing renovation and there were several areas without grass near the greens. No signs but played as if they were under repair. The layout is good and tight. Oh, there are very large gators so beware.
Great first experience
First time to play Shipyard. Enjoyed it and will return. Got a $0 green fee using credits on GolfNow and drove almost 1.5 hrs. Worth it.
Tee boxes were in great shape, fairways were dormant but got good lies. Greens were the best I’ve played other than Sea Island Plantation in December. Rolled very smooth but received iron shots.
Three nines and one was closed for work. Got held up a little on each side but the starter and clubhouse told me that when I checked in.
Very much worth playing!
Nice courses friendly staff
Staff was able to get me with two other nice gentlemen one new the courses and it made the rounds much easier. Courses were in good shape for the time of year. Greens were very nice. Good day

We're so glad you enjoyed your time with us! We hope to have you back here again soon!
Horrible conditions, rude staff
Scheduled to play the shipyard on vacation. The entire course was ripped up. No grass around any of the bunkers three foot high mounds of dirt in the middle of the fairway. Greens and fringe were spray painted with a rattle can to appear in better condition. To make it worse staff was rude and un accomodating. The guy in the clubhouse named Tristan was extremely unprofessional and confrontational. To be honest his attitude was not acceptable.

Hello Sir,
We are very sorry about your poor experience with us. After doing some review of the day and where we went wrong, it was found that your group got sent the wrong 9 hole course to start. That 9 was indeed being heavily worked on. As for the greens, spraying pigmentation on them is a very common practice for courses that do not overseed and we have had nothing but great comments on them. After having a discussion with Tristin, it is found that he did in fact issue Rainchecks when first talked to after your round. If there is anything else we can do to rectify the issue, please contact me at
bcrum@heritagegolfgroup.com
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
We're so glad you enjoyed your time with us! With us having 9 holes closed we get a bit limited as far as helping pace of play. Thank you for your kind comment, and we hope to have you back again soon!
