Galleon/Brigantine at Shipyard Golf Club
About
The Galleon/Brigantine Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses at the club. Galleon/Brigantine has a rating of 72.7, with a slope of 133 from the championship tees.
The original nine holes - Galleon - meander through large oak and tall pines. Accurate placement of approach shots into heavily guarded greens is necessary on this nine.
Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.

Golfer Reviews
Lived up to previews good #2 dogleg on B course
Played 1st 2 holes then started racing and had to stop after 7th hole. Got refund for back 9. So can't really rate full course played 4 holed in rain hard to rate condition of full course or what it would have been like not playing in rain. Based on 1st 2 holes course was terrific, interesting and challenging fun. Which we could have played full 18.
Excellent Greens, short course
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. The greens were in excellent condition. The grass was just a tad long and slow, but they ran true on every hole.
Shipyard is an underated gem!
Golfed at shipyard and was blown away by the service provided! We had golfed at golden bear before shipyard and thought golden bear would be better. It wasn’t! Shipyard thought of everything from an iced stocked cooler on the cart to fresh towels on the cart and balls and tees! We didn’t get any of that at the previous place so was a nice surprise. They also had a practice, chipping area, driving range and putting green. Will be coming back to do the unlimited 3 day golf package! Love Shipyard!
Enjoyable Round of Golf at Shipyard
We had a very enjoyable day and round of golf at Shipyard. Played the Gallion and Clipper courses. Overall the courses were on very good condition given it is mid-August and coming off two extremely hot weeks. The greens were in excitation albeit a bit slow as they manage them given the extreme recent heat wave.
Staff at Shipyard is very helpful and friendly. Afterwords we had lunch and the burgers weee properly cooked and delicious. Service was excellent.
Late summer golf
This time of year is always hot and very humid!
Still, if you can get an early tee time it is bearable. The I played three courses on HH island and Shipyard was by far in the best shape. Greens were a bit slow but rolled true. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a great course and would play again.
Course in great shape
The course was in perfect shape, and conditions.
It was extremely low though..need more control on the course, and the restrooms need an upgrade.
Fun track
Beautiful course. This was my first time playing at shipyard and it was terrific. Fairways and greens were in great shape. I was paired up with a bunch of guys on a family trip from Buffalo and they were great to play a round with. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, I will definitely be back.
Took 5 and a half hours to play. 8minute tee times and no marshal on course made for a miserably long day
Shipyard Golf
I really enjoyed my round at Shipyard. I played Brigatine and Galleon. I was a single, with my wife just riding along. The staff in the Pro Shop and the cart guys were all super friendly. I played 18 holes in about 2;15 as there were not many others out there, and those that were let me play through. The only down side was it was cart path only, but that really never bothered me as I am a walker. I will definitely be back this week, hopefully when it is drier.
Shipyard was not a shipwreck.
The staff was awesome- Ethan stood out, he shined the most!!! Course was in great shape considering the amount of rain it had recently. Great experience.
We love this course!!
We played this course last year and loved it. We had a great time as well this year, but the greens were exceptionally tough. They were very firm and at the same time, very slow. Extremely challenging! The staff was excellent and very accommodating. We can’t wait to play here again next year.
Friendly place, good greens
Took my 11 year old out for a round and everybody was really friendly and welcoming. Course was in decent shape, but the one kudo I am happy to give is that the greens held spectacularly. Every iron shot in hit and stopped. Very fun. To be clear we played the Gallon and Clipper 9 hole courses for our round.
Amazing Beautiful course
I had been to area before and wanted to play some courses. I chose this one and it did not disappoint. From great service, to great value this course was amazing. I've never played a nicer course. Highly, highly recommend you play it when you stay in Shipyard!
Great course with great staff.
Outstanding Round at a Top-Tier Course
I recently had the pleasure of playing a round that completely exceeded expectations. The entire course was in exceptional shape—fairways were lush and tightly manicured, bunkers were perfectly raked, and the overall presentation was perfect.
The holes themselves were genuinely challenging, with smart design that rewarded good shots while punishing the occasional miss. What really stood out, though, were the greens. They were true, consistent, and rolled beautifully—fast enough to keep you honest but fair if you read them correctly. Putting felt pure all day.
Just as impressive as the course conditions was the staff. From the pro shop to the starters and staff, everyone was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and helpful without ever being overbearing. It genuinely elevated the whole experience.
I would highly recommend playing a round here to any golfer looking for a well-maintained, challenging layout with outstanding greens and great hospitality. It’s the kind of course that makes you want to come back as soon as possible.
Great round could have been better
We very much enjoyed or round at the course. It was in great shape however the greens were extremely slow for a course of that level. And the course maintenance staff should start much earlier. Out tee time was at 7:58 am and there were several holes where traps had not been raked or cleared of garbage from the overnight drinkers. We found a few traps with empty beer cans and empty beer cases from some kids that were on course after 7 pm when the public can be on cart paths and such. Nothing like hitting a sand shot out of an unprepared bunker over beer cans. also the turn was very difficult to determine direction to next nine. And the divot sand bottles on our cart were not filled. We ran out of sand in both bottles by third hole. (Had to track down ranger to get new bottles)
For the price of the round that seemed unacceptable.
But overall it was a great round thanks
