Great course, however, greens had been recently aereated...give it a couple of weeks.

Great course with challenging layout. If you are a long hitter, leave the driver at home. The fairways start to bottleneck around 260 and become very narrow. The par 5's are the toughest holes on the course but fairly easy if you play them with irons. Great value for the price, highly recommend. Greens are diamond zoysia and are firm but very true.

Overall the layout was interesting. Elevation changes and water coming into play. Greens were in great shape. Rough was thick and fairways were nice. The Pro in the Golf Shop was great. When we told him we had never played there he took the time to walk us through some of the holes that were not as straight forward as the others. That was a huge help. I plan to make it a point to play there again.

The high grass that surrounds many of the holes will swallow your wayward balls...I can attest to such.

This is one of the tightest courses I have ever played. Be prepared to either control your driver or club down to guarantee yourself a solid lie on your second shot. These narrow fairways really add a lot of character to the course, but add a lot of headache for the player. Nothing is given here, everything is earned.

Course is protected by water and OB sections around most of the holes. You really have to be accurate here to go low. When you are allowed to pull out the big stick, you have to take full advantage. We played this course in May and found the course to be in great shape. Greens were still slow, but they were obviously protecting them for the later summer months.

Pro shop is okay, food is decent, staff is excellent. I would recommend this course to others for sure.

River falls is quite possibly the best public course in the upstate. I've played it for over 20 years. There is alwaYsidro grass even in the winter and the greens are always fantastic. However, since they went on golfnow.com my opinion has changed. I used to pay full price, gladly, because of the golf course. Why would anyone pay full price now that there is an option. In my last 3 rounds there, 1 was full price and 2 were off golfnow.com. the time I payed full price I was treated with respect and golf courtesy. The course was backed up on the front side so the starterest let me start on the back, I was a single.

The 2 times I purchased my round online, I was a single once and had a buddy the other, we were not afforded the same courtesy. Being told that bexcuse I went to golf now, the regular priced rounds had more precedence than us. I only got 9 holes in with my buddy, a 3 1/2 hour adventure.

Yesterday went out as a single. Pulling into the course I could see that no one was on the 1st 2 holes. I was 45 min early so I could putt some. Well, 30 min before my tee time I was ready. No one had teed off on 1 since I got there and I was told that I had to wait for the 2 groups making the turn to play in front of me. So I sat there for 40 min, finally a foursome came through and teed off. I then got the "honor" of teeing off behind the second foursome that I had to wait for. So I got to tee off 25 minutes after my tee time while no one teed off on 1 for 55 minutes. If you've got 50 bucks to spend on 9 holes than this is definitely the place for you. I however, will not be back.

Play the Rock or Wood tees and you will get to use all your clubs. Greens putt true and are smooth. Bermuda fairways coming alive. Lots of water hazards, some to carry and others lateral. Definitely worth playing.

Like most courses at this time of year (April) the grass in the fairways has been cut too short. There has not been much rain lately so the grounds are too dry. Not sure they water enough.

Lay out at RF is beautiful and I always enjoy playing there especially when I score a good round like today.

This is a very good course, well take care of and of my favorite layouts in SC. Staff is friendly and helpful and will answer any questions you may have.

Greens and tee boxes are in awful shape! Pace of play takes forever. Way too expensive for such a bad experience. Staff wasn't nice. Seems like they don't really try. If you can make it to Spartanburg or Greenville, do it.

This is one of my favorite courses in the Upstate area. At 1PM on a beautiful I only paid $29 as a Senior. This time of year the fairways are sparse, but the greens are as great as they always are. This course has some fairly easy holes that give you a breather, but a number of very difficult, tricky holes that require good shots and good thinking. As with several other Gary Player designs he likes lots of subtle contours around the greens and in the fairways.....some of which help the player and some of which can be difficult to navigate around the green.

We had a 2:20 tee time did not tee off until 3 due to over booking and a problem with an early shotgun start. Only finished 14 holes before dark due to slow play and late start.

Probably wouldn't have played here if it wasn't for the golf now price. Usually this course is a little high.
Course was in good shape especially since we had A LOT of rain prior to playing on this day. Course is always challenging, but fair.

Loved the course, layout was my favorite I have played in the Upstate area. Was not impressed with the staff. Pro shop and starter were rude. Teed off in the pouring rain and asked for extra towels to keep my seat and hands dry and was told they didn't have any. What golf course doesn't have towels? My guess is they treat their members with respect and the public play gets treated poorly. Also some veryyy slow foursomes were holding up singles. And no help from the pro shop.

Good course very challenging just was so wet the rain yesterday but still enjoyed the round.

This course is in awesome shape. Staff are super friendly, and the pace of play is blazingly fast

1.Course was in fantastic shape for November.
2. Distance was very fair and just the right amount of challenging
3. Bunkers weren't in fantastic shape, could use some maintenance
4. Greens were great, but rolled incredibly slow. Not necessarily a complaint, but was frustrating to keep leaving them short.
5. Staff was incredibly friendly
6. Pace of play was solid.

Every hole is different and carved out of the terrain all by itself. Some holes had lengthy treks between greens and tee boxes. Lots of elevation changes, some blind shots. Strategic plays of the tee, but not a total target type course where you have to meter each shot. Some fairways narrow, but in general landing areas were fair. Love to play this again.
