River Falls Plantation
About
River Falls Golf Plantation in Duncan is a Gary Player Signature Course. Its location makes it convenient for meeting up with people coming from Asheville, Columbia, Atlanta, or Charlotte. The golf course is also just minutes away from downtown Greenville. The narrow layout will test the accuracy and shot making abilities of even the best golfers. Rolling hills provide a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Water hazards come into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and fairways. Player crafted a golf course that is both formidable and scenic. The abundance of mature trees helped him achieve this. He carefully wove River Falls Golf Plantation through the mature forests, allowing the trees to surround the holes, giving each a secluded and peaceful feel.

potential to be really good course
Maybe I played at the wrong time of the year. VERY HOT that day. The course was dried out and the greens were a bit suspect because of recent sanding and been punched. HOWEVER, would like to play again at a different time of year, maybe course would be in better shape. I liked the layout. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was the first time I had been at that course. Because the neighborhood surrounding the course is higher end housing. I was expecting a course in better shape. But, the potential is there. Will play again at a different time of year.
June 2015
Course was in great shape except for three greens on the back had a few rough spots.
Terrific local semi-private course
I always enjoy playing this course. With the constant elevation changes and hazards, the course challenges you to play solid golf in order to shoot a good score. Overall the course stays in great shape, though there are a couple of greens that need some major work. All in all, a great course for the price you pay and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
A good course in the Upstate
I have played at River Falls a few times. The course is challenging with some very good holes. The green conditions aren't as good as they should be. They seemed to be in better shape in the Spring.
Note: the 8th hole is very hard. Play it safe
nice course
Greens were in bad shape. Would be nice to have information on blind shots. I liked the layout and parts were very challenging. The greens don't require a lot reading mostly flat
Cooper Head
Great course, but the greens were being air-rated. Cooper heads to the left of hole 4, beware.
Tough but enjoyable course
I enjoy this course. Very tough, but very enjoyable!
Had better
A friend and I decided to play this course last minute one Wednesday after work. I purchased 9 holes on golfnow.com and went to the course. After teeing off on #1 we proceeded to our ball for the second shot and saw that the irrigation was on at the green. I purposely hit a shot to a side that did not have the irrigation. By the time I was ready to chip on the green, the irrigation came on in the area where I was standing and got me soaking wet.
9 holes For $25 should have a better outcome than this. I only live a couple of miles from this course and have heard good things from other players. it was a disappointing experience to say the least.
Good course
Would play again everything was up to par and very nice
Great Course
Always enjoy playing this course. It is very challenging from the tips with a lot of risk and reward shots. Staff is very friendly and they have a great practice facility. Highly recommended this course to anyone.
Challenging Course from back Tee's
This is one of the best overall courses in Spartanburg.
Perfect Spring Day
Several holes need drive up to green to insure players are not within driving distance.
There are few yardage markers on this course..
Some of the tee boxes are in bad condition.
Some of the fairways are muddy making short wedge play very challenging.
Watch out for herds of deer, which did some damage yesterday as they raced through on the 17th green..Something spooked about 10 deer that were moving at high speed..was a little scary.
Early season and overall conditions are good.
Played Sunday and will play again Wednesday :)
good challenging course
nice layout and well maintain course. you need to play under control... is gone challenge your game and your concentration over the 18 holes. faire greens most of the time quite fast. enjoy!
Very slow pace of play!
Pace of play was terrible and the course was not crowded for a Friday! 2 hours and 45 minutes to play the front nine. Ranger never came around to encourage the two "VERY SLOW" groups in front of us to speed up. We had to play the front 9 again to get out from behind these groups, which was disappointing. Otherwise, course conditions were good. Greens rolled smooth but somewhat slow.
Lot of character
This is a golf course where you will remember all the holes; They are all distinctive. The greens are absolutely perfect! If you can't putt on these, then well, you may want to practice your putting!
Fairways still dormant, so lots of bare lies. 18 is especially beaten up, but still playable.
March golf
Greens in very good condition. Fairways dormant. I played the new senior tees (5500 yards) and still found the course very challenging. The only problem was cart path only so it took us five hours to play on a Sat. Great layout but very difficult to walk.
2 words ; loved it.
The course was in great shape despite the weather. Cannot wait to play it again in either spring or summer. The staff were absolutely wonderful. I have already recommend it to two people. As many different courses as I have played in the last 7 yrs, I am sure RFP will remain one of my favorites.
Glad you enjoyed your experience. Thank you for your support.
See you soon.

First timer
I am not a fan of Gary player layouts. Too many lay ups. I like hitting driver on all non par 3's which wasn't always called for here. Kudos to the greens keeper. The greens were spectacular. The rolled true and were a test to keep from running by. Well worth the money.
A course to rule them all
The greens were bonkers! Very consistent perfect greens forsure. Excellent scenery! There was an actually dead possum near the tee box on the 7th hole. But the course is out in the woods (which is awesome!) so, the dead possum was understandable. I'm sure they cleaned up his flesh by now, btw. The creeks and rivers throughout the whole course were beautiful. The fairways were plush as can be, and the difference in altitudes made it an overall GRRRRR-EAT experience. I recommend this course to all golfers of all ages! Thank you, iloveyou!
Glad you liked the course. It is very scenic. Next time you are up from Florida stop by and see us. FYI the possum was disposed of promptly and properly.
