River Falls Plantation
About
River Falls Golf Plantation in Duncan is a Gary Player Signature Course. Its location makes it convenient for meeting up with people coming from Asheville, Columbia, Atlanta, or Charlotte. The golf course is also just minutes away from downtown Greenville. The narrow layout will test the accuracy and shot making abilities of even the best golfers. Rolling hills provide a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Water hazards come into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and fairways. Player crafted a golf course that is both formidable and scenic. The abundance of mature trees helped him achieve this. He carefully wove River Falls Golf Plantation through the mature forests, allowing the trees to surround the holes, giving each a secluded and peaceful feel.

Hidden Gem in the Upstate
River Falls is a great track. Immaculate greens and a fantastic layout.
Good Course, Lots of Potential
I was looking for one last round before starting back to school and had several people recommend River Falls. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and would play again. The course was in good/decent shape (considering the heavy rain we had for the previous 3 days). The unique layout of the course was very beautiful. I wouldn't recommend walking as many of the holes are very spaced out and it's on a very hilly terrain. I will say that it was missing that "wow" factor. It seems that if a little money was put into maintenance and upkeep it could achieve that wow status. Cart path concrete was cracked and bumpy, a few greens needed some work, patchy fairways in a few spots. I don't mean to sound negative because I really did enjoy my round and the golf course in general, just trying to be realistic and offer some feedbackI received a great deal via the web -- the regular rates seem a bit high for the area and quality of the course.
Great conditions
The course in great shape. The greens look and roll great. Played at 11:00 on Thursday as a single and got around the course in less than 3 hours.
Interesting layout. Not worth the price.
Different view/scenery than the typical course. Bunkers were great visuals. Hole three has a grass area in the middle of the bunker, which has another center cut bunker in that. Other bunkers were two tiered with grass in between...so pretty neat to have different looks.
Maintained well. Excellent greens. Great course. The only downside is the price. I paid $39 with golf now price. It's really only worth $30. Normal rates are much higher than that and it just simply wouldn't be worth it.
Staff friendliness was great.
One of the best in the Greenville area!
I've played most of the courses in the Greenville area but this one,and I'am thankful I've had the chance to to play this gem of a course. The fairway were beautiful and the greens were excellent, and had a good pace about them.A must play for you Golfers out there.
Not what I was expecting
The course has a great layout. Front 9 and back 9 are set up different which is great. The biggest problem I had with the course was the condition it was in. For it being a Gary Player Signature Course it was in rather bad shape. My nephew and I played on a Sunday and teed off at 9:00 A.M. and the greens were really slow. Looked as though they haven't been mowed in a couple of days. The tee boxes were full of debris from rain a day or so earlier. The sand traps were really in sad shape with ruts in them from water running through them. The whole course just needs more attention to it. Not impressed at all but I will go back and give it another chance. Hopefully next time the course will be in better shape. If not, I am sure I won't be going back.
River Falls Plantation
Course was in good shape, greens were aerated, but not bad, good round overall
Very Nice Play
For the price, this is a very nice course. The staff was very friendly and organized. Tight fairways, but still very playable. Not a long course. Two things to critique: GPS would be nice and better help/food when making the turn or after golf.
Excellent Course
On my annual trip to Greenville, I always want to play River Falls. Many challenges with elevation changes. Course was in good condition, staff is friendly. Not a walkers course.
the course has some challenging holes
I would have thought that the fairways and course would have been in much nicer condition for the money that is charged to play the course
Nice track
Weather was cold and cloudy; but the course was in decent shape. Buddy from Las Vegas, who plays several times a week there, played with me and was impressed by the course layout and affordable green fees. Well worth the time to play.
how i got beat down by a golf course
This had to be the most difficult course because of the wind and the narrowness of the fairways, the difficult of the greens, and the right to left turns of some of the holes. My natural shot is left to right,, and ball placement of the ball was critical to playing well and since I can't really control my ball flight except to try to hit it straight it made this course all the more difficult.
Nice place
Challenging layout. Shot making and some wide open holes. Greens roll true. Fairways good for the time of year. Tee boxes need work badly. Pushing pace of play too hard keeps higher hdcp golfers away. Not everyone shoots in the 70s.
My review
Really fun, open layout with serious elevation changes throughout. No walking allowed. Distinctly different front and back. Had great time and would absolutely play this track again.
Gary Players River Falls
Great fun track of golf. From the scrath golfer to the 18 hdcp..there's is good golf to be had.. zoysa greens in great shape..
Rude players ahead of us! Slow, slow, slow!!
My playing partner and I played hear on a Saturday. They sent a group of 2 (us) right after a group of 4. We waited patiently behind this foursome until the 11th hole before asked if we could play through, as they never offered. When we finally asked they became aggressive and confrontational and refused to let us okay through. They then continued to stare us down for the remaining 7 holes (this was rather uncomfortable).
The course itself was nice and well manicured. The staff were nice enough and I don't totally blame them for the actions if these 4 jerks; however, it would have been nice if the starter had if asked them to let us start in front of them.
Because of the slow, rude players in front of us, it took 5 hours and 35 minutes to play 18 holes for my playing partner and I to play. We could have played 2 rounds in that time. We literally had to wait at least 15 minutes before each tee shot, and that's with us playing 2 balls a piece.
solid track
for this time of year course was in great shape greens were very fast
Great greens
For the middle of winter the course and greens are in excellent playing condition
