River Falls Plantation
About
River Falls Golf Plantation in Duncan is a Gary Player Signature Course. Its location makes it convenient for meeting up with people coming from Asheville, Columbia, Atlanta, or Charlotte. The golf course is also just minutes away from downtown Greenville. The narrow layout will test the accuracy and shot making abilities of even the best golfers. Rolling hills provide a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Water hazards come into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and fairways. Player crafted a golf course that is both formidable and scenic. The abundance of mature trees helped him achieve this. He carefully wove River Falls Golf Plantation through the mature forests, allowing the trees to surround the holes, giving each a secluded and peaceful feel.

Just finished, looking back down 18 Photo submitted by u702760800 on 12/07/2019
the course has some challenging holes
I would have thought that the fairways and course would have been in much nicer condition for the money that is charged to play the course
Nice track
Weather was cold and cloudy; but the course was in decent shape. Buddy from Las Vegas, who plays several times a week there, played with me and was impressed by the course layout and affordable green fees. Well worth the time to play.
how i got beat down by a golf course
This had to be the most difficult course because of the wind and the narrowness of the fairways, the difficult of the greens, and the right to left turns of some of the holes. My natural shot is left to right,, and ball placement of the ball was critical to playing well and since I can't really control my ball flight except to try to hit it straight it made this course all the more difficult.
Nice place
Challenging layout. Shot making and some wide open holes. Greens roll true. Fairways good for the time of year. Tee boxes need work badly. Pushing pace of play too hard keeps higher hdcp golfers away. Not everyone shoots in the 70s.
My review
Really fun, open layout with serious elevation changes throughout. No walking allowed. Distinctly different front and back. Had great time and would absolutely play this track again.
Gary Players River Falls
Great fun track of golf. From the scrath golfer to the 18 hdcp..there's is good golf to be had.. zoysa greens in great shape..
Rude players ahead of us! Slow, slow, slow!!
My playing partner and I played hear on a Saturday. They sent a group of 2 (us) right after a group of 4. We waited patiently behind this foursome until the 11th hole before asked if we could play through, as they never offered. When we finally asked they became aggressive and confrontational and refused to let us okay through. They then continued to stare us down for the remaining 7 holes (this was rather uncomfortable).
The course itself was nice and well manicured. The staff were nice enough and I don't totally blame them for the actions if these 4 jerks; however, it would have been nice if the starter had if asked them to let us start in front of them.
Because of the slow, rude players in front of us, it took 5 hours and 35 minutes to play 18 holes for my playing partner and I to play. We could have played 2 rounds in that time. We literally had to wait at least 15 minutes before each tee shot, and that's with us playing 2 balls a piece.
solid track
for this time of year course was in great shape greens were very fast
Great greens
For the middle of winter the course and greens are in excellent playing condition
Greens are superb right now
Enjoyed the course extremely and greens seem better now than even during the summer. Super quick!!!!!
Great course with some challenging holes.
This is not a wide open easy course. Some tight spots require good ball placement. I rated the value great because I booked a "hot deal" through golf now.
Great course, expect to be treated like an outsider
I've played this course quite a few times and have booked it everytime through GolfNow. This course is challenging, well kept, and very pretty. I've enjoyed the course everytime I've played it. Unfortunately the staff always has treated me like I don't belong there. There are dismissive, at times bordering on rude. This last time the man behind the counter (not the club pro. I met him at a different time) argued with me about whether I paid on GolfNow. Showed him my receipt and the email I received from GolfNow. He looked at it and told me that something was fishy and he didn't feel good about it. If you can get past the pro shop desk, you will have a great experience.
Fairways and greens were in excellent condition.
The only negative was the elevated par 3. The tee boxes were in terrible condition. Besides that the course was great!
Great course, great condition
Played on a Sunday after lunch as a single, starter worked me in early as I was ready, great guy, played with 2 members , were a great help for someone who hadn't seen course before.
This is a well designed course.
This was my first experience with Golf Now.com and I will say it will not be my last. They sent me all the documentation necessary to just walk up to the pro shop tell them who I was, pay and we were off. The only thing that might be better would be if you had the option to pay for the round when you booked it. Then you would just give them the receipt.
course
Very nice course, needs just a little TLC, especially carts paths.
I Got Played
As a course with Gary Player's name on it, I expected a lot and was more than underwelmed. The course is in terrible shape, grass growing wildly everywhere and not by design. Driving over a land mine would be an improvement over the cart paths Plenty of gimmicky holes plus you need your own sherpa to find your tee box at times. Obviously whoever was sinking money into this course stopped, awhile ago.
Don't let the name play you.
Course needs help
The facilities were beautiful here. The course had a lot of rain and surprisingly, it was not cart path only. I saw LOTS of tire gauges in the fairways.
There were 8 VERY SLOW foursomes in front of us, none asked us if we wanted to play through, despite the fact that we were just two people. I was told this was not normal but there were people leaving the course because it was so slow. There was no marshall to speed play up.
This course has potential, but it needs to be better controlled/maintained.
Nice features but the front nine was a soggy mess
It was not very enjoyable due to standing water & mud everywhere.
