The 15th hole on the South course at Mauna Lani Resort is an ocean thriller. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 01/28/2014
Mauna Lani debut
I’m not sure how I missed this course last time I visited Kona but happy to have played it. The South course is very scenic, very playable but not too easy. Hard to hit out of the rough and you want to avoid the lava, but the fairways were large enough to hit regularly.
One par 3 runs along the ocean and one you have to hit over the ocean but neither are brutally long holes.
Thanks to GolfNow, I got a Hot rate for an earlier time than I could have on my own…..THANKS!!
Amazing
This is my first time. Golf ⛳ course is amazing and views are also very nice especially hole number 15.
Great course for a great price, beautiful scenery too!
Got a great deal and was looking for something to be wrong but it was in great condition and the views were amazing. I recommend it!
Golf Pass - insane value
Rack rate $295
Golf Pass rate $145
Pays for itself, thank you!
Golf pass discount? Yes please
The golf pass discount rate is close to $100 off the rack rate price for a tee time. That’s phenomenal. Either course at Mauna Lani is going to be an exceptional experience that you just can’t get anywhere other than the island of Hawaii.
Lovely course
been coming here for years…one of our favorite course and now ridiculously expensive…but beautiful.
Best Of The Island
That’s not fair bc this was my first course on the Big Island but this is tough to beat. Amazing holes on the ocean, challenging but not intimidating
Resort golf with a few postcard holes
This is a nice course with 3-4 holes on the coast that in the minds of the owners justify the price tag. Conditions were good, but we dealt with brutal pin placements on almost every green. Pace of play was dreadful at times and they did not do a great job of moving groups along. That said, we played in just over 4 hours, but it could have been much quicker if they paired people up better (lots of 2’s and 3’s mixed in with foursomes). Other than the holes on the water, I don’t know that I need to spend almost $300 to play here again.
It’s Hawaii- Enjoy it
Course was in pretty good shape and at this time of year (mid-October) it was not crowded the 2 times I played it.
Made more difficult if you playing on a windy day. I’m 79 and enjoyed playing from the forward tees. Also the holes along the ocean are very well done and present a real challenge. In the winter months you can see a lot of whales but in mid-October there were none. My wife is a non golfer but enjoys riding along for the great weather and scenery.
Awesome course
One of my highlights of our Hawaii golf trip. Some breathtaking ocean holes. Moderately difficult layout. Playing from the tips on #15 and making par was my highlight. Still place Kapalua Plantation as my favorite Hawaii course but this one is up there too along with Manele on Lanai.
Beautiful course
Normally I would not play a course this pristine but if I never make it back to Hawaii, I would regret not playing it.
I got my moneys worth on this course. I spent most of the day playing from one side of the rough to the other. The lava rocks had a beautiful collection of golf balls.
I didn’t see the greens as overly challenging, lots of sand around the course and some holes had more narrow fairways. It was fairly windy when we played.
Beautiful course and well maintained, with about 4-5 holes of beautiful ocean views. Staff came around about 4 times offering us water.
