Highlands at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa

About
Grand Geneva Resort & Spa boasts two championship golf courses. The Brute Course is a formidable test while the Highlands Course presents a more player-friendly layout though it still has plenty of challenges in store. Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye teamed up to design the Highlands. It is a traditional links-layout that is tumbles across glacier-carved hills and valleys. It perfectly mimics the feel of courses of the British Isles especially on the undulating greens that are flanked with bunkers. The course is playable for all skill levels though low handicappers looking for a challenge might want to tackle the Brute. The resort has garnered a popular following amongst both locals and visitors. Conde Nast Traveler ranked it in the top ten northern US golf resorts and that is just one of the many accolades Grand Geneva Resort & Spa has received.

Beautiful Course
Course is not long so it's a shot-making placement course where the approach angles are key. Most of the Par 5's have dramatic dog legs so you need to be on the correct side of the fairway to have the best angles. Tough to play the initial round because there are some blind shots where you would benefit from previous rounds in knowing where to hit. Also the greens were difficult and fast so knowing them in relation to pin placements would have been helpful as well. Very enjoyable round on a beautiful course with excellent amenities.
Never disappoints!
The Highlands course is always in great shape, challenging but gettable, and a great time. There Is almost always a wildlife sighting, it’s just a beautiful place to play golf.
The course was in great condition however we got behind a slow group on the front nine but they let us go pass them and it was awesome afterwards…..
Great course for the value
Course was in perfect condition in spite of rain. Staff was friendly and responsive to our questions, pace of play was good. Played this course when I lived in LG and will definitely play this course again before heading back home.
Great course, great people
Great course, great people quick play and superb conditions.
Only issue was 87 degree heat and no water jugs on course to fill up.
Only saw drink cart twice, and not after the 8th hole of 18.
Other than the drink issue must rate everything else 11 out of 10.
Great time would definitely play again.
LOVE IT
Mid spring round, a little chilly and windy but a pretty nice day for April 18th in Southern Wisconsin. Staff on arrival could not have been nicer. Teed off on time ,at 8:45 and for the time of year the course was in GREAT shape. Beverage cart stopped by four different times. Our foursome played in just under four hours.
Grand Geneva
Greens were aerated either late fall or this spring. Need a couple of weeks to get into great shape.
five star course for public player.
worth one hour drive to play first time. wish next season can play the Brute.
Love me the Highlands
As always playing the highlands is a treat. The course was in great shape for November. The greens were really moving.
I am a bigger fan of the Highlands then the Brute at Grand Geneva. The Highlands I believe is a much better layout and really requires you to think on a lot of shots. Especially holes 8-11. Those I really can make or break your round. #9 is by far the hardest par 4 in southern Wisconsin. 430 Par 4 with an impossibly landing area with OB on the left and a cart path on the right that send your ball in to the OB, then straight up hill to a green with a false front. A 5 is a great score.
Highlands has alot of birdie holes and or with a bad drive they a double bogey holes so make sure your drive is on point.
My only complaints is there is never any rangers so play can be slow. Also the driving range is huge and yet they have you hitting off of mats make no sense.
All in all I enjoy this place go play it for sure.
The landscape was gorgeous
It's a beautiful course with lots of gullies and hills that make it challenging.
