Greens were in fantastic shape for this time of year in Michigan!
Beautiful Course with Beautiful Price
The Links of Whitmore Lake is hands down one of my favorite courses to play in the area. It is always in amazing condition and at a very reasonable price. The icing on the cake is the friendly and inviting staff.
A group of 4 of us played this past Sunday, it is the end of the season and we are trying to get in as much golf as possible. We only made it to hole 16 before it started getting really dark. The ranger came out to check on us but was extremely friendly, saying we could play 18 on the way in if we think we could see. Usually courses are rushing you to get the carts in and sort of snobby. Our experience here was the complete opposite. Even though we choose not to play 18 and just go in, it was the kindness of the ranger that left a lasting impression.
We will most definitely be back.
Overbooked!!!
Took me over 3 and half hours to play a round by myself. I waited on EVERY single shot. I’ll never go back!!!!!!
Fun Course
I've played this course twice this year -- both outings were a lot of fun. In both cases, the pace of play was quick, the course was in good condition, and the service was excellent.
I will play this course again. Lots of variety with the hole layouts. Fun course to play.
A gem
This course was a lot of fun to play. About 45 minutes from Windsor, it is picturesque, but not a long course. The staff was accommodating and very pleasant to deal with. The starter gave us a rundown of the highlights and he was 100% accurate in his narrative. The front nine is relatively easy (par 35 - 3 par threes), and as easy as it is, the back nine is that hard ( par 36 with only 2 par threes). A few of the fairways were in poor shape (areas of patchy or absent grass with dry cracked soil where there had obviously been standing water), and a few of the greens were struggling (patchy), but on the whole, the course was well maintained and in good shape. The greens held well, and some were deceptively difficult. As noted, the pace of play was slow, with waiting on most every hole. That, however, did not take away from the enjoyment of a really fun outing. A great little course, with very reasonable green fees.
Nice Course - Up North Feel
Nice course - play was good kept moving. Greens were in good shape.
Staff was extremely accommodating. They were short on cooked hot dogs - cooked them out and brought them out to the 10th hole.
Nice course - up north feel
Nice course to play - gives you the up north feel.
Nice distance between the holes - not that congested feel.
Definite worth playing.
Good course, one weird quirk
Good course in great condition. One weird tee box where you hit off turf on a bridge on the hardest hole. Staff was great and played in 4hrs. Great pace
a great MI experience
In MI for wedding. Picked course from reviews. Greens were in great condition considering drought and heat conditions of July. Front nine was a great warm up to the back nine which required precision. Gotta say the rides thru the marshes on the boardwalk cart paths were delicious. A wonderful course and value. Great course
Short and fun
Not a long course but fun and nice atmosphere. Holes 4-6 all run together so it got a little crazy with people hitting from the wrong fairways. Also, no beverage cart out on Sunday morning.
Overall enjoyed it and would probably go back.
Nice course, great value
Overall I like the course and usually when I got here the pace of play is not an issue but it was a significant problem the last time I was there. Paid for 18 but only played 9 because that took over 2.5 hours and left only 1 hour to play the back 9 before dark. Disappointed and frustrated because I was looking for a nice, quiet evening on the course (which it usually is), I just went home. Will likely be back but it might be a little longer before I return.
Moderately tricked up
Course accommodates wetland areas. There are 2-3 long forced carries over wetland, one hole requiring artificial turf platforms along the wooden causeway. Played Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, so not too crowded. It did take a while to play (over 4 ½ hrs); we were tight behind the group ahead and never saw the group behind, which means either no one went behind us or the pace of play behind was horrid. It had recently rained and bunkers were affected. Greens were pretty good. Starter very helpful and courteous.
good course
For what it's worth, I'm a bogey golfer more or less.
I golfed right after it rained a good amount so I expected there to be some wet conditions. The course seemed to handle the amount of rain we got pretty well. There were only a few spots where you didn't want to step or hit. There is a good amount of variety and imagination with the layout. It wasn't overly challenging but not incredibly easy either. I'd definitely go again.
Good Course
Overall a good value. I live on the west side of Detroit, so it is pretty far away for me. Course in very good shape. Layout is odd, but works for the land available. My one beef was the staff. There was only one person in the pro shop/bar, and there was a wait to pay for services/ drinks. That was around noon, and I thought it was odd, but the course wasn't busy, so I didn't think much of it. At the turn, there were three people working in the clubhouse, yet I still had to wait for refreshments. Not very player friendly.
