Great value
Two completely different sides. Front pretty much wide open while the back is more tight, and is target oriented. Fun course to play. Well maintained.
Love the many different contours of this course.
Front nine totally different then the back. Scottish layout on the front. Precision shots that are not long. Back nine has more length and woods like up north.
Cut the greens...
Layout is good and you have to hit good shots, which makes it A bit of a challenge, but might be the slowest greens I have ever played on. I have played this course in the past with the same, slow greens. You have to absolutely hammer the ball to get it to the hole. You would figure the day before a holiday weekend, they would have it dialed in. If they cut the greens, this course would be a super value. My son and I do enjoy it.
Not very long but very challanging
Pleasantly surprised, the course was well maintained and it had plenty of hazards to keep this short in length course interesting. It may be helpful to having a way to get lay-up yardage for some of the doglegs on the back nine. All in all, a nice course to add to my list of courses worth playing.
Fun and fair course
Not a easy course but at the same time very fair. True putting surfaces and rough kept manageable. Nice staff and clubhouse.
Good for the price
Fun little course; not very challenging but is usually in pretty good shape.
Great use of the wetlands terrain.
100 yard markers would be a great addition on the fairways.
first time playing was a nightmare.
Links style course lived up to its mark, although it tipped out at 6200. Tons of blind shots that i was not happy with. great greens and fairways. watch out for water on a lot of the holes. hit it straight and you will be fine. many groups let me play right through with no problems or waiting. For being in the middle of no where, its a nice place to play.
Nice Course Rude Staff
The course is beautiful. Absolutely love it. Thing is that the 2 times I went the Young guy who works there is rude rude rude. Doesn't put you in a good mindset to start your game. First time he told me well I better keep my long shirt on because I'm not supposed to wear a sleeveless shirt (It was a nice Nike one) however I guess its ok for women to since I saw women with the same shirt on the course. Nice time I bought a 1 player tee time and thought my Daughter couldn't play cause of a broken leg but it healed and when I showed up it was a big frickken deal even though I offered to pay extra for her - No problem. Guy wigged out than asked my Daughter about it to like see if I was lying. I'd golf there probably every other day if it wasn't for this guy. Never have issues like this at any other golf course.
tee times!!!
had a 1:30 tee time and didn't tee off till at least 45 minutes later. Even got there at 1pm and there was a line up at the tee box 6 deep then.
Nice course for the money. Will play it again.
The course was in good shape with all the rain we had.
Truly Excellent, Fun Course
I played this course for the first time this month and it is definitely one of my top five favorites in the Ann Arbor area (the others being Eagle Crest, Hickory Creek, UM Course, and Radrick Farms).
Links has a nice cartpath through the whole course to guarantee that the fairways and greens aren't chewed up too much. Part of the course invades swamp area so the cartpath becomes a picaresque wooden bridge. Would not want to walk this course since the distance between some holes is large.
Very nice clubhouse. The holes are varied and challenging, but a real joy to play. Lots of forced carries on the back nine but nothing outrageously difficult. Big greens that ran true. Definitely want to come back here.
Not too much trouble and what there is is readily avoidable. Nice setting. Pretty. Friendly greens.
I'd definitely play here again. Very convenient to get to. Close to Ann Arbor. Nice pace of play on a weekday. Well-maintained, but unpretentious. No monster 4's from the whites.
Very nice course
Front 9 open and short with 3 par 3's. Back tight and tricky very enjoyable
Played early April. Course not really ready due to weather.
I play this course alot. This was the first time out this year and it was cold and windy. The greens were okay and tee boxes level. The fairways were not growing yet and surprising how dry things were. Good drainage,
Early season rates outstanding
If they keep thier rates in April around $20 for 18 w/cart (weekdays)they are going to get alot of business. Nice course and fun to play. I have golfed here many times and enjoy it.
Solid Course
Have played this course several times and am never disappointed. Hot Deal on GolfNow made this round extra nice even though it was a breezy, cool, fall day. At under $20 for the round, this course is a must play.
It is like playing two different courses. Front 9 and back 9 are as different as night and day.
I play this course often as it is in close proximity to my house. The deal posted by GolfNow was too hard to pass up, $10 for 18 holes with a cart. If and when I see this deal again, I will take advantage of it.
The only negative thing I would have to say about this facility is that during the peak golf season they tend to be inundated with league play and group outings which makes it difficult to take advantage of another great deal they have, Twilight Golf starting at 6:00 pm. for $18. Their scheduled leagues, especially on Fridays, makes it near to impossible to tee off much before 7:00 pm.
The back nine are very much a challenge as there is a lot of wetland to deal with from the tee boxes.
Great value, fun course
Links of Whitmore Lake is a great course to play. The staff are usually very helpful and will let you go out ahead of your tee time if they are not busy or fully booked. The course was in great shape for being the middle of Ocotober, the greens were fast (not punched yet) and the fair ways were in good condition. If you've never played here the front nine is the easier of the two, lots of open fairways and not a lot of OB areas to lose a ball, The back nine holes tighten up though so if you're spraying it you may lose a few on those. Overall LoWL is a great course and and excellent value for your dollar.
The red bricks in the middle of the fairway, mark 100 yards to the middle of the green. They have them on every hole.
