Apache Wells Country Club
About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

Would pay again
Course was in really good shape compared to others we've played recently. But a super challenging course. Rather flat until you get to the greens.
Excellent course in great shape and very enjoyable!
Played here several times and it's a fun, yet challenging course...
Good course
This course is almost always in good or better shape. The greens are always very good except for a couple of weeks after aerating. Pretty wide open course with some water and limited bunkers. This is a private course that allows public play at certain times of the year, mostly May to October. Not a long course at only 6000 yards from the tips.
Not to bad
Greens were a good speed, fairways pretty good, wish the pase of play was a little better
Excellent play
In the area for work from Texas, beautiful course kinda hidden off the beaten path it seems! We’ll definitely come back to play
Pro Shop
I was very surprised and disappointed. When I arrived I noticed there was only one car aside from myself. I checked in with the Pro Shop. He said I will be playing with another twosome that was not there. I waited several minutes and I loaded my bag into the cart. thought I’d go ask the Pro Shop attendant if I could tee off right now since no one was ahead of me and I’d like to beat the heat. He responded, “if you want to beat the heat you should move to Alaska. Wow, very rude. He reluctantly said I could go ahead and go out. My day started on this sour note unfortunately. There is too much other courses out there to be treated so rudely. So, have to think twice about visiting again
A bit frustrating!
We were aware that a few holes were under construction, but unaware that they were aerating some of the fairways. Once they start poking holes in the ground the roll of the ball stops and the tractors created a lot of dust. Normally the course is in good shape, but it was challenging the day we played....We asked if they would give us a comp but to no avail!
Phenomenal and friendly course
Super friendly staff and very well run course. Fairways and greens were in great shape. Course is fairly straight and simple to play but overall had a great time at this course!
Great round
The course was very quiet - we played in 3hrs 15mins starting at midday. The Pro Shop staff were friendly and helpful. The course was in good condition and I hope to play the course again.
Great value
First course I played after moving to the Mesa area. Great place to swing the clubs for the first time and was able to play 18 as a twosome in 3 hours flat. Very straightforward layout and I would move myself back a teebox to make it a bit longer next time. I will be back here when I don’t want to pay premium prices for other courses in the area and the practice facility is a big plus.
Play here !
Excellent conditions and pace of play. A bit short but great great golf
Really nice condition for this time of year in AZ.
Pretty great for our needs
We are visiting the area and wanted to get in a quick round of golf. We really prefer 9 holes and we aren't keen on getting paired up with other golfers. We like to play at a quick pace as we don't take ourselves too seriously and scramble a lot and have no need for a scorecard. Given these factors, this was a pretty perfect place for us. We played our 9 holes in an hour and a half and didn't see a single other soul on the course. It was peaceful out there and the course seemed to be in good shape.
My only complaint was about rental clubs. We arrived needing rental clubs for our twosome of female golfers. We inquired about sharing a set because we will scramble most of the time and were told they didn't allow that. Okay, fine. However, as it turns out, they only have one set of ladies rental clubs (which were pretty nice Cobras) and then gave us a senior men's set because the flex is comparable. That is true, but the length isn't as we are neither tall ladies. So, we paid for two sets and shared one anyway. It was only $25 fee per set so not worth arguing over but pretty disappointing to be required to rent two sets of ladies clubs only for them not to even have two sets. Odd for sure.
It was still a good choice for our needs and glad we played.
First timers
This was the first time we have played the course.
We both enjoyed our day and hope to play again, if we get to return to Arizona.
