wide open
First time player very nice course a bit pricey but overall a nice outing, would play again.
Nice course
Fairly easy course with few hazards, but in terrific shape! Speed of play was appropriate as well.
Nice course for the money
Enjoyable round of golf for a reasonable price. Course was in pretty good shape and pace of play was great.
Great value
Excellent value to play here conditions were very good for mid January some par 4 were a little long from the whites for older players otherwise it was a very playable layout some long par threes also. Good range to practice also.
enjoyable round
course in decent shape, greens filling in and are quite quick
The course should be cheaper
It's not a course I would pay more then 25 dollars for during the season not worth it and played really slow nobody out there to guide to tell people to get going I will stay on my side of town in Peoria I can play much nicer courses for the price I was charged.
golf in the "heart" of PHX
Encanto is classic...high rises in view from almost every tee box...wide open fairways with plenty of challenge...water comes into play right off first tee and from there you are "worked over" on the front 9 regarding length of holes...pars possible but birdies require second shot accuracy to be sure. Overall its an enjoyable day when you can play golf in late December without a parka (shorts and short sleeved collared shirt with pullover was the attire on this late december day).
Great play for the money
Got one of Golfnow's "hot deals" and had a frost delay in the morning. Yep in Phoenix, a frost delay, but once we were off it seemed the pace would be slow ,but after a couple of holes it moved right along. The course is in great shape as are all the Phoenix city courses.
Long Par 4's for women
I came down from Prescott to escape freezing temps. The wind was cold but I truly enjoyed the round. Was paired up with 2 great gentlemen and our skill sets were pretty even. The course is pretty flat. The challenge for me came from the length of the par 4's...I am not a short hitter but I frequently needed long hybrids for my 2nd shots. The greens were medium for speed with subtle undulations that make them harder than they first appeared. Bunker shots were off of 'concrete,' next to impossible to control. The course is in a park-like setting in the city with greens and tee boxes in slightly uncomfortable proximity and fairways in close parallel. Still......would I play it again??.....In a heartbeat! It's a great value.
Needs sand
Liked almost everything about the course. Hit into two greenside bunkers and both were in need of sand. Could not play normal bunker shot.and it really never used to be this way at Encanto.
Everything else was great.
Timely Round in the Winter
The staff was very friendly as usual and allowed me to use my expired coupn for a free round I had earned with my Phoenix Golf card.
Our twosome started at 1:15 and finished by dark.
good stuff
Nothing spectacular, just wide open, forgiving course in very good condition.
Great condition.
I was very happy to see this classic course in best ever condition.
Great value
Love this course. Will play again Anytime. Got to tell my buddies
Best Deal for Winter Rates
Flat course with character. There is a lot of history at this city course and you can see why it stays around. It's a staple for local golf and the best value you will find this time of year. Great course for the beginner and advanced golfers alike. Staff was friendlier than in past visits which is extremely important.
Great Day
We played as a threesome and finished in a under four hours. The course is in great shape. Greens are cut and provide a true read on your putts. I look forward to playing there again.
Hello and thank you for your 5-star rating! We're delighted you enjoyed your round. Please book another round with us soon, and thanks for choosing Encanto Golf Course!
Surprised!
We live not far from Encanto, however do not play it regularly. Will play it more often this winter time as it is in much better condition, overseeding well-done, dead trees removed, new tee markers, ball washers, etc. We are glad we played Encanto yesterday.
Stay in the fairway!
My wife and I were joined by another couple. They'd played here a couple times, so that helped us. Though the track is fairly straight forward. The rough is Bermuda, it isn't very forgiving, and the greens were very slow (but true). I played the white tees, and next time I'll probably play the blues. The ladies had a good time, which isn't the norm on more difficult courses. Pro shop staff was very friendly. We were the slower group on this day, (about four hours) but let twosome and threesome play thru without delaying anyone else. This is a city course and the water hazard was being stocked with trout when we arrived.
Great value
Some challenging holes. They are done overseeing this season and the greens are great.
Wide Open Range
Played with a golf buddy who is a local. This course has a lot to offer a golfer of any level, but especially beginners and intermediate golfers. The fairways are wide and flat allowing for errant shots to the right or left. You will still have a lie as long as you avoid the trees to the left or right of the fairway. The sand in the bunkers is hard so be careful there. The pace of play was good. My friend and eye were able to stop for lunch on the 10th green and resume playing about 30 minutes later without effecting the pace of other golfers in front or behind us. Great to have a lot of open space unlike narrow executive courses lined with hedges. The par 4s and 5s seem longer than they acutally are probably due to the flat fairways. Thought the fee was a bit high for a public course, but it's that time of the year.
Bet On Great Arizona Golf Package
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Encanto Golf Course.
