Union Hills Golf & Country Club
About
The golf course at the Union Hills Country Club is a championship course with a traditional layout. The course has been named one of the Top Ten Private Courses in Arizona. The design features four lakes and two winding creeks that create water hazards that come into play on a few holes. There are also several sand bunkers present. Some of the golf course's greens are elevated and the fairways are average sized in width. The signature hole is the par-4 14th hole, which requires a carry over water. Union Hills Country Club also has a putting green and full driving range for golfers to use.

Good times
Fairways were green as can be. Nice to hit from. Some areas of the rough were pretty bare and just dirt. I guess I should keep It in the fairway.
Friendly Course Ranger
Overall the conditions have improved since our last outing and, compared to many other courses in the Greater Phoenix area, good value.
Extremely friendly and cheery course Ranger. Great pace of play....under 4 hour round.
Disappointing
Greens were sparse.
Greens also had grass clumps from mowing.
Flags were all the same color so one could not tell where pin was (front, middle or back)
Rough was sparse.
Sand was hard.
Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape.
Union Hills
Pros and cons: Pros. :The fairways were in good condition but it was cart path only due to the wet weather, the course does have some challenging water tees, and it was only $40. Cons: Pace of play was slow due to the group in front of us and when the Marshal came through he didn’t care or even want to address it so we had to skip a hole (I understand cart path only is slower but when you have someone giving lessons in the tee box and on the greens and the Marshal won’t address it he needs to be fired!!), no driving range, they offer shots of Fireball whiskey that isn’t real Fireball whiskey (buy the real stuff but DONT pass your fake stuff off), and the restrooms on the course were in bad shape (use a tree since no soap/towels in the outhouse) but the houses were nice to look at along the course and the greens MEH 🫤
Greens
I played this course a number of times pre covid and was very happy with it and that it why i selected it.
The fairways and course were excellent but the golf was tarnished by the condition of the greens. They were bad and we should have been told about this prior to booking.
We ended up taking two putts on each green as it was that bad.
I am disappointed with both Golf Now and Union Hills as it was fun but the greens spoiled it.
I would not recommend a friend to play this course in it's current condition.
Beautiful fairways
Fairways are in great shape. Greens not so much, but playable. Aeration leaves them a bit bumpy. Prices are so high in the winter, but this course is still reasonable. Had a 1:00 tee time, finished by 4.
poor greens
greens had no texture They were very smooth but because of their slope they did not take any break and if you were putting uphill it may roll back to you. I really thought some of the greens were unfair and you couldn't hit to the greens...
Nice Course!
Fairways are well kept but greens need some attention, mostly because players not repairs ball marks. Overall I really enjoy this course!
Nice layout but needs a refresher
We did enjoy this course and will return in the near future. You can tell it was, in its day, a very nice course with a good layout and some challenging holes. It has aged and could use some work on the tee boxes and greens. With some capital expenditures, this course could be restored to be a great venue.
Maybe Parents Need to Take Beginner Golfers to Executive Courses
The course came in reasonably well with the overseed. Fairways and greens were in playable shape, but could have been a bit more lush. As the rye grass matures, maybe it will fill in. The course layout is always a fun challenge. Some holes present a challenging tee shot while others get demanding on the approach to the green.
The only issue with this outing was being behind two foursomes with young, beginner players. Even though they picked up bad shots and moved forward, there were more bad shots than those that moved the group forward. The result was a round that ran out of daylight. Parents need to assess the level of their young players and get them used to the game on a more suitable course like an executive course before venturing onto a championship course. A round of golf this time of year is not inexpensive and other players want to finish their rounds, not run out of daylight watching youngsters hack at golf balls.
First time experience
Forgiving for wayward drives but a nice layout and some challenging holes. Condition was good and greens were tricky and played well for this time of year. Off course facilities were limited and clubhouse had a typical old country club feel. Enjoyable and decent value for money..
Don't waste your money
I would think that anyone who owns a golf course would have some pride in it's playability and condition. This course was in very poor shape with minimum overseed and some fairways were better than the greens for grass. Greens were sparse and bumpy would be putting it mildly. Probably the worst conditioned course around. If owners don't take care of the course then there are a hundred other courses where your money is better spent
Greens are terrible
For being two weeks after over seeding, it was a big disappointment. Greens were spotty and bare in places. Never consistent from one green to the next.
Hopefully, they'll improve them.
