About
Founded in 1917, Washoe Golf Course is the oldest golfing facility in Reno. The layout has small greens and tree-lined fairways, but the fairways are wide and flat making them fairly forgiving. There are water hazards and bunkers strategically placed throughout. The mature landscape is carefully maintained with an elaborate sprinkler system that ensures that the course is green and ready for play all year round. Washoe Golf Course also has PGA Professionals on staff to help with individual or group instruction and extensive practice facilities that include a generous putting green, driving range, and a chipping area with practice bunker.

Cart path only
Effected course of play, mostly dry but recent snow on ground was the reason for cart path only. Wide straight fairways, small greens with high rough around them, will play again
Improved conditions vs prior years. It has not rained in weeks, course is dry , still cart path only? My credit card was charged $5.20 more than I signed for. Thankfully, I get my charges on my phone and caught it. Something fishy going on there. Watch out. Only almost got hit only one time this time. Usually around 3 times per round on this course, especially when cart path only. Proper Golf attire is definitely not required at this course.

Course is in geeat shape for this time of year. Greens looked good a rolling true. Had a wonderful day in the sun
cart path only
Course was in very good shape for March. Unfortunately, it was cart path only. The course was not wet at all. No reason for cart path only. At this course, a lot of new golfers play there and balls cross fairways often. With cart path only, it put the golfer and higher risk of being hit as cartpaths often are close to other fairways. There were two incidents yesterday that could have killed someone. I understand cart path only when the course is wet, but yesterday was not a wet conditions day. Please consider customer safety when making cart path only decisions taking into account that your course layout increases risk of incident combined with a high percentage of beginners. Otherwise, congratulations on the condition of the course. So much better than in years/decades past.
entire course
Tee boxes, fairways, and greens fine. Around the greens and along the fairways a little rough looking. They're working on the sand traps but they should be nice soon. Didn't like that it was "cart path only". We looked around and didn't see why. Way too much walking, it took the fun out of the round somewhat. THX
It's February and we're playing
Great winter conditions. It is what it is. They let us play untill it was to dark without interrupting or chewing us out for being out well past closing. Washoe on paper looks easy. But it has it challenges and will test you.
Nice views and well maintained.

Washoe golf review
It is the course I grew up on. Very welcoming and affordable condition could always be better before the price. You can have a good time. Firm greens and tight fairways. There are short holes in there are long holes. Medium level of difficulty, but still a great course not too far from downtown Reno.
Scruffy local muni in very playable shape. Staff super kind and accommodating. Played with two nice locals on their home course. Solid test of golf and the greens ran true
Great place to get your long drive dialed in
Most holes require at 200++ yard first shot.
Rough is either super thick or dirt sand and rocks.
Greens are stiff as a 2×10 plank . Id say likely to measure at least a 12 on da stint meter.
Hard to make small accurate chips from the collar or frindge. All in all still the best value legit course in Reno. At least Imo. We paid 38.99 per person on golfnow hotdeals . Pace got slow a few holes but still made it all the way around in under 5 hrs.

Yo all should give a locals discount and a punch card or loyalty points so ppl have an incentive to play more and buy more gear. 10% first timers 20% repeate customers or play 5 rounds 6th round is free..
Some basic promos would create more loyalty i live in San Diego but play whenver im in town. .
Overall course condition
For a municipal, the course was in great condition, especially the greens and bunkers
Nice local community course
I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed playing this course. The greens and fairways were in great shape. I especially enjoyed the back nine. Pretty forgiving course for a golfer who shoots in the 90’s.
