Washoe Golf Course
About
Founded in 1917, Washoe Golf Course is the oldest golfing facility in Reno. The layout has small greens and tree-lined fairways, but the fairways are wide and flat making them fairly forgiving. There are water hazards and bunkers strategically placed throughout. The mature landscape is carefully maintained with an elaborate sprinkler system that ensures that the course is green and ready for play all year round. Washoe Golf Course also has PGA Professionals on staff to help with individual or group instruction and extensive practice facilities that include a generous putting green, driving range, and a chipping area with practice bunker.

Decent city course, bring water!
The course is in fair to good overall shape. There are some dry areas and the sand traps were terrible and as fate would have it, I was in too many of them.
The pace of play is slow. The back nine was terrible, it took 3hrs to play, there's no ranger and worse of all no beverage cart! None of the water fountains work, so bring your beverages, to keep hydrated. Iwas afraid my cart was going to make, tires were totally bald and it sounded terrible.
Not sure I'd come back.
Good course close in town
Washoe Golf Course is probably the oldest course in Reno and offers some interesting holes. I thought the course was not well maintained, but that may be due to the lack of water. Greens are small and challenging.
Washoe a must play
Get out of the casinos for a minute and play some golf. This is a beautiful course. Slightly rustic in spots however the closest to the casinos.
Pretty forgiving course
It Hates Me!
I've played Washoe dozens of times. I [lay harder courses and score better. I think a combination of its deceitful appearance and its lightening fast greens contribute to my poor play, at times, on Washoe. It is a fun course, but when faced with groups ifo you that play from the wrong tees and wait for a group on a par 4 to reach the green before teeing off, then topping their balls 100 yards, pace of play is very slow at times. A mobile marshal would help with that. Other than that, I will be back!
A decent muni
Course was in good shape and pace of play was good
Always reliable
Washoe is an older course with relatively small and usually fast greens, most that slope back to front. The fromt nine is relatively flat as are the last three holes. It is walkable, which I do. It also has several challenging holes and is good for everyone from beginner to advanced player. For the amount of rounds each year, it is in remarkable shape, better than several private, open to the public courses in the area.
Unfortunate ending to a great day
We had a 1240 tee time and were advised on arrival that we would have to return the cart by 415 for an event that going on later in the day. So we only got to play 14 holes before returning the carts and leaving. The overall course was nice and other then not playing all 18 holes was more then satisfied
