Manager don’t give a rip
Maintenance worker mowing the putting fringe while we were putting. It happened on holes 11,12,17.
I spoke to the manger (dave) after our round and he really did not care. He said his workers had a lot of work to be done! Not even a “sorry sir, id like to apologize for the interruptions in your round”. I mention that i spent a big bucks ($50 for a muni) to play golf at shoreline and he rolled his eyes and said “big bucks, really”.
Hey Dave, some of us work hard and it takes a lot of budgeting to play a round $50 round of golf during a pandemic! Maybe Dave should have paid for our round of golf since $50 is peanuts to him. Hey dave, forget you and your goose poop filled golf course!
Good experience
Tee box level. Fairways firm. Greens clean and fair. Will play again.
Not too bad
The pace of the game is too slow even I have a cart because my partners are walking and most of the players ahead! I end not finishing the game because of the cart curfew too. But overall, it’s alright, maybe I’ll book earlier tee time and just do walking as most of the players do! Thanks GN
Shoreline reg and loyalist
I’ll admit shoreline is my home course I have a deep affinity for it for several reasons one it was designed by Trent Jones Junior the layout is phenomenal with trickery on the eye on almost every hole,
I play from the tips so almost 7000 yards which is a great test and especially on the par threes when it’s windy it can be a nightmare 200+ yards. You get a beautiful layout with patchy fairways and gopher holes that I’m sure you’ve heard all about but for some reason the other horses in the area such as Baylands Moffett Field are mundane and boring as shoreline is unique as every hole
Sticks out in my mind better or for worse. They are redoing all the bunkers and pouring money into the greens which have always been the saving grace here. If you can play well at Shoreline you can play well anywhere I found out to be quite true if you’re willing to overlook some dried grass fairways and some greens that are in the process of getting work done then you’re have a fantastic time this course is challenging don’t blame it on the gopher holes don’t blame it on the patchy grass go out and enjoy yourself and see it for what it is and I think you’ll enjoy it it’s made me tremendously better golfer and one that Love the layout and the uniqueness of each hall just my two cents
Slow pace
If your waiting for the green to clear and your 190yrds out and your tee shot was 160yrds, theres somethings wrong
Pricey and tight
Keeping the ball in play is huge on this course, lots of tullie and tough bunkers to carry. The layout is still worth trying but these fairway conditions are hit and miss. The greens roll really well. The tee boxes are in fairly good shape, but we bumped into a lot of hackers that just couldn't get down this long track.
Fairway and green conditions are dilapidating
It is beautiful course and layouts are great. However fairways are not maintained at all. Rabbit and animals holes are everywhere. Brown patches all around. Geese poo are all over - walking is nasty. Greens are hard, patches and holes all over. I don't mind animals on course but they have rabbits, moles and other burrowing animal holes are so many balls can be lost in fairway.
Sorry, but was a little boring
This course has a few fun challenges, but the landscape looks very similar on the vast majority of holes. I would say conditions are ok, but the fairways look tired. Greens are in good shape and are the best part of the course. They aren’t excellent, but are better than average. Also, lots of holes where you can’t tell where you’re aiming. They have a barber pole, but it’s not visible from the tee box. Sadly, I would say this course is forgettable. I’d probably only play here only if nowhere else was available.
Pace of Play and Grounds
The pace of play was quite bad. There are no marshals to keep groups moving. The tee boxes are quite uneven and need a bit of work. Warning: the course is full of gopher / squirrel holes. Be ready to lose a ball or roll an an ankle if you're unlucky.
