Decent course. Good value with a discount.
Average golf course which can be difficult when windy. The fairways need to be improved. When I played there were plenty of dirt patches. Not worth it at full price.
Nice place
Course was in good condition. Fairly quick greens that were well maintained. Walkable, and had many slow moving walkers slowing the pace.. Waited on many holes to take my shot. No marshalls! No drink carts. But nice atmosphere.
Beats workin
Enjoyed some beautiful November NorCal weather at Shoreline recently. Driving range is decent as was over all course condition. Greens were very bumpy but tee boxes were nice and fairways pretty good. Met and played with a couple nice guys but because the 4some in front of us were walking (slowly) we waited A LOT. Never saw any sign of a Marshall so on a couple par 3's it backed up 3 groups. Nice guy in pro shop....had fun....good food after.
Squirrels & geese
Greens were bumpy & green speeds were inconsistent (we were told at the course that the greens were aerated 2 weeks before). Fairways were fairly dry and had compacted dirt in many areas. The amount of geese and goose feces and ground squirrels and burrows were unreal. Don't leave any food open in your cart, the squirrels will steal it.
Putting green
Putting green were bumpy.I know we are having the drought so we don't expect perfect condition but at least putting green roll smooth.
Save your money - course was miserable
It was a beautiful Saturday when I decided to play Shoreline for the second time. I'd played once months ago, thought it was a nice track in bad shape and wanted to see if it was any better this time. Short answer, it was so much worse!
I actually quit after 9 holes and asked for and was given a refund. The staff couldn't have been any nicer.
The course was awful - fairways were all choppy, there were geese and their feces everywhere. Greens were slow and bumpy, and in some cases had dirt mounds on them. Tee boxes were ok. Course layout is still good. Pace of play was slow. 9 holes took 2.6 hours. There was no ranger on the course. On the 9th tee, the group ahead of me (there was a backup on every hole) also commented on how slow the course was and what poor condition it was in.
One other note, and this seems to be getting more common - greens fees are cheaper when booking online rather than calling the course. It's $70 over the phone or $59 on golfnow. However, I highly recommend you play somewhere else.
GOOSE POO EVERYWHERE!!!
I have never in my life played a course in such bad shape. There are geese EVERYWHERE and most of the tee boxes and greens were COMPLETELY COVERED in goose feces. I honestly couldn't believe how bad it was.
Do yourself a favor - don't go.
Beautiful Day, Beautiful Course
Good course for all levels of play. Greens very challenging. Beautiful setting.
Great for beginners and youth golf!
This place hidden inside silicon valley presents a great opportunity for kids and newbies to play and learn the game of golf. The course is pretty straightforward, you can see the pin from the tee box most of the time. It can get windy in the afternoon so be careful. There are 2 chipping and putting locations, a good size driving range and a nice restaurant next to it for 19 hole activities. A junior golf camp plays in the afternoon so try to avoid playing behind them. The greens were bumpy and plenty of goose doodoo in the fairways. Several high grass areas so best to keep the ball in the fairway.
Good deal, great location.
Played in the afternoon, nice breezes, not too crowded, played in 4 hours. Greens were soft and bumpy but decent. Some dried out spots in the fairways but overall in good shape for a muni. I'll be back more often.
Course conditions, Disappointing
Teed off before 7 am. The company was great, the weather was awesome, but the course conditions were pretty poor. Fun layout, with trees and bunkers everywhere, along with water hazards to challenge your tempo. No matter what, the conditions could not be overlooked. Greens hadn't been mowed, cups were old, and my playing partners complained about inconsistent sand in the bunkers. Some of the teeing areas were so badly sloped and or bumpy we moved to other tees on certain holes.
Greens held but were thick and bumpy. (need verti-cutting or rolling if ur not going to cut them.)
But it's still golf, so all and all I had a great day!
Greens were bumpy!
Everything about this course is usually pretty good but the greens were just too bumpy the day we played.
Shoreline June 4 2016
Always a fun course to play. Greens were in great shape and difficult pin placements. Not too windy and warm, perfect ft for a SundY afternoon round.
I was running late so called the pro shop and they got me out as soon as I arrived.
Alright, but not great for the money
Course condition isn't the best, and there are far better courses for 50+ dollars in the area
Several Forced Carries and Fast Greens
The City of Mountain View has done a good job of taking an old city dump and making it into a large park which includes a golf course. The layout is interesting. There are several forced carries that give the course a challenge, especially when the wind is up. The greens were fast adding to the challenge. The greens and fairways are in good condition.
I thought the pace of play was a little slow. We had to wait at almost every hole. There was a five-some a few groups in front of us. I didn't realize the course allows this.
Heinz from Switzerlabd
The most worth Golf corse I played in the Bay area in 2016. Give the space back to the nature as it us the best y can do.
Same Old Story, Same Old Song and Dance
Ahhh. Been coming here for years, was a long time member and close to my home, the main reason I came here today. SGL has benefitted to some extent from the rainy season but alas, grass won't grow in clay no matter how much rain there is. Vast swaths of some fairways are dirt, and unfortunately the kind of dirt that would not support any sort of life form. I'd like to say the greens came back from aerating quicker than usual, but that would only mean they are back to their usual bumpy and annoying selves quyicker than usual. I have no idea what these guys are trying to prove with the maintenance (or lack thereof) but they absolutely brutalize the greens when they aerate here, so much so that by the time they are fully healed and back in almost excellent condition, guess what? It's time to brutally aerate them again !! There's only a single two week period during the year the greens are worth a darn and that's around the City Championship but that may not hold this year since they are moving it from September to July. Been to more than 80 courses in the Bay Area over the years and none of them have problems with the greens and general maintenance like they do, I honestly have to think the standard here is only that there's grass on the greens, not whether or not they are playable. For such a tremendous layout the aesthetic at this course is horrible. I know it was built on an old landfill but does it have to feel like you're playing in an old landfill?
