A tragedy of a golf course
This is a flat out shame. It's a pretty nice golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones and it's in really lousy shape. Fairways have weeds on them, tee boxes weren't mowed well and were often times uneven. Greens were in ok shape. Bunkers were ok.
There was no starter, no marshall, and pace of play started out ok and got backed up by 8. First 8 holes played in under 2 hours. Last 10 holes took more than 3:15. Really could have used a marshall.
The place is busy because of the location. It's right off the highway, close to all the tech companies, priced reasonably for the condition it's in. However, with better maintenance and proper timekeeping they could probably fill the course at twice the price and have a much better golfing experience. I probably won't return - too many good courses in the area to waste my time on one that's not well kept.
One of my favorites on the peninsula
I love the layout of this course. It is fair and challenging at the same time. I always enjoy play here. The only downside was they airratted the greens a week or two prior but other then that i love this course!
Nice layout but pace of play is terrible
My tee off was 12:40, we were 4 in our group but the group ahead of us was walking 4. It took us 2 hrs to complete first 5 holes. There was no field marshal enforcing the pace.
Horrible
I tried to play nine holes, but the course was so backed up that I was only able to play 5 holes in 2 hours!
Hole #4 (par 3) had 10 players backed up on this hole alone.
There were too many twosomes and threesomes. Why not pair these up with singles to improve pace of play?!
There was a man and his 2 daughters (3 in the cart) and he was giving the girls playing lessons. Sharing clubs.
No marshall in sight to hurry these slow pokes along!!
The guys in the pro shop were great though...
From Good to Decent
Arrived in the morning with a early tee time and I knew there was going to be a frost delay. Was informed that we'll be teeing off later, which I totally understand. We actually didn't even have to wait that long. Our tee time was at 8:48 and we teed off at 9:20 or so. Enough time to warm up at the range.
We paid for the cart and when we arrived at the first tee, the starter informed us that it was cart path only which should of been mentioned when paying. If that was told to us in the clubhouse, then we would of just saved the money and walked it because with a "cart path" only rule, you're going to walk quite a distance anyways.
Another thing that they failed to mention was that one hole had a temporary tee box which meant a par 4 was playing as a 135 yard par 3. Usually when there are temporary greens or temp anything on the golf course, I'm usually told before the round starts. We drove up to the tee box to find small signs which was our only notice.
Overall, I still like this course. Love the layout. The greens were in really good condition. The fairways not so much. You could launch a drive right down the middle of the fairway and end up on a patch of dirt.
Fun Layout
Good greens...course is in good condition,...#13 a par 4 was under repair the day I played..tee move to the 150 marker...no big deal. Go play here...
Best time here yet....darn DST
Have played here a few times and this was my favorite time yet. For how parched we are, the course was in pretty good shape. The greens were in really good shape and rolled true and consistent. There was zero wind (amazing!) and not crowded at all. Didn't have to wait on people in front and no pressure from people behind. All in all, a great time except for how dark it gets so early we were only able to squeeze in 11 holes (started at 2:00).
Great course and friendly staff!
I booked two tee times back to back from golfNow in Reno, NV and forgot my reservations in my suitcase. Your proshop staff was understanding and found my tee times without a hitch, and my family, friends, and I all had a wonderfull time on your beautiful course. Thank you, you will see us again.

Fun round
Course is in decent shape considering drought. Good value.
Not good
Golf course is good but that day the wind is blowing strong
Therefore everyone is not playing well.Well try again next time
good day
It was my first time playing the course and I enjoyed the layout. My only complaint was the condition of the greens but it was the result of aerating the previous week of which I was told when I made my time. The fairways and tees were fine considering the drought. The marshals were very present but my lost head cover was never found and I am not sure they asked the groups behind me like I would have expected from such a fine facility.
Overall, the course was fine and the restaurant was very good. Great practice areas, I wish I lived closer.
Good
Windy course....pace of play slow....but nice restaurant.
..will play better next time. ...
Nice course
This was a nice course although the bar/grill was lacking. They have a great seating area both inside and outside the restaurant, although they close between 2-3pm....a bit disappointing.
This course has a great layout
Issue with ground squirrels, significant damage to course. Marshals need to hold players to a standard for pace of play.
open play
Great course that's pretty wide open. I would recommend this course to anyone that loves golf. Can beat the price if you book on Golf Now.
A Floridian's perspective of Shorelines GL
Having just moved from Florida and an avid golfer in the golfing capital of the world, I was very excited at my first opportunity to play in the Bay Area. I found the golf facility convenient, the staff very friendly and helpful. The rate was reasonable. The course layout was good with moderate elevation changes and given the drought, most of the course was green but there were some bar spots in the fairways. The squirrels were EVERYWHERE and their burrows were a nuisance. Lots of geese and their droppings. The greens were very plush and rolled pretty fast. Breaks were moderate; undulations were reasonable. I walked the course, which is not something we do in Florida. Very easy to walk and rental pull carts were good. I enjoyed the course and will probably play it again soon.
Good pace of play during a holiday
The pro-shop was extremely nice. My son and I showed up with a GolfNow booking, but the staff gave us the birthday free round, and the junior rate, for the total of $44, riding!
The fairway has patchy spots due to the draught condition, so we had to move the balls a few times. No big deal.
When the pro-shop paired us with a walker and a lady visitor from Europe who has never played this course before (and not a very good player - can't really get the ball off the red tees consistently), we thought this would be a long day. Surprisingly there weren't a lot of people on the course, considering this was the Labor Day, other than the group behind us passed us on hole #3. The course is fairly short, off the white tees, only 6000 yards, so that helped as well. We managed to finish the round in 4 hours and 45 minutes.
Slow
Greens in good shape but the pace of play was extremely slow especially for a Monday.
Good but not great
Good course, good layout and greens were a little firm but rolled fast and true for the most part. Like most muni courses, golfers think fixing ball marks is optional which is too bad. Also had to deal with occasional cyclists riding throughout the course - really? Back 9 was particularly ragged with lots of bare areas, some on fairways. No fun hitting off of dirt. But all in all, good but not great. I paid $59 with cart and although that's competitive for the area, I'm not in a hurry to go back or pay that again.
Good day for Golf
I had played Shoreline some time ago and remember the duck and goose droppings all over the place. It seems like they this issue under control now. Given the current water situation the grass over all was in good condition. They have also found a good balance in speeding up slow play. We started slow, but then moved along at a good rate. finished the round in 4 hours 10 minutes and had a great time.
