no sand in bunkers
The tee to greens were in good shape the bunkers had no sand in them very hard to play out of bunkers .over all its a very challenging course you will enjoy
Greens in good shape
Lot of rain last week but the greens were in great shape (what really matters). Rest of the course was still pretty wet. Sand was non-existent. Played the first nine in 1:40 but the back took over two and a half hours. At least the marshal was active with trying to get it moving
Thank you for the review! The greens were aerated last week and continue to improve. The rain is great for the course but slow for golf. We have dried out and hope to see you back soon!
Getting Better
The course is under new management, so it is getting better. The staff is friendly and helpful, the course conditions were just OK, I am hoping they improve as new management gets going. FYI, I guess they are redoing all of the bunkers, most were Ground under repair with virtually no sand in them. Pace of play was slow, they were 4 twosomes in front of us. They should really look at combining groups
Work is still being done in the Pro Shop, and Restaurant. I hear good things are coming if you are a beer person

This course needs some tender loving care!
This course needs a little TLC, more sand in traps, fairways need some love, greens were decent. With all the rain we've had to date, I thought the course would have been in better shape.

Hidden Gem
I had no idea this course was in the Tri-Valley. It reminds me of an economical version of the BlackHawk Country Club. We zipped through the course in 4 hours on the weekend - incredible! If the course was better maintained, this would be my favorite course in the area.
Canyoun Lakes CC
Challenging but fun. Will Play again. Entertaining course with all of the vertical changes.
Canyon Lakes G.C. being Renovated with New Brewry
Great staff. New ownership group revamped entire operation. Will become a Bay Area golfing destination shortly.

For me, it is challenging and well design golf course.
This is my first time here and I will definitely will
come back here to play if price stay reasonable.

Golf course is still on going renovation.Lay out is good.Ideal for practice your short game.Since still under renovation it is very early to give A full survey ,so far golf course is very challenging ,narrow therefore you need to be accurate in every shot you made.Very interesting lay out.I definitely go back again to play.
Potential Charm
Canyon Lakes has potential...has beautiful views of the San Ramon Valley. Found course challenging...needs more TLC. Friendly Staff. Will golf at Canyon Lakes again
Promising possibilities
I read many terrible reviews about this place but had to play it and see.Its under new management so all the people there are fantastic and very courteous.There is no resterant ...food and drinks at this time.As for the course...I loved the layout of the course and its holes are challenging,greens are still in good to great condition depending on the hole.Fairway are pretty rough and some non existant(mostly on par three's but they all need some serious TLC).If brought up to surrounding area standards(the bridges)this could be a course to be reckoned with.So yes my review is kinda mixed,But again the people there now are promising to get this place rolling and in great condition,there all very friendly and helpful so if all goes as planned this could be another great course in the area,problem is it won't happen fast with the kind of changes needed and can it survive at the rates there charging play until it get to that condition...when you can play other course already in great condition for the same price...that will be the question.
Big Change
New Owners! Wow what a difference! The staff was super friendly and informative. There are new owners as of Thanksgiving 2015. The last time I played the course it wasn't too good. In a short period of time things have already gotten better. They are cleaning the clubhouse which is something that needed to be done. I can't wait to see all of the improvements as they come along. I will definitely played the course again soon
Avoid this one
Run on a shoestring. No range, no beverage cart, most unfriendly staff. Avoid this one with so many other courses within a few miles.
