Between cars and planes
The course is nice but the noise is not.
Layed out between the airport and freeway.
The front 9 feels like you’re on the end of the runway with planes taking off and landing every few minutes
After the turn hole 10 leads you away from the airport and puts you almost on the highway
The final two holes are quiet finally a bit of refreshment at Beeb’s bar and grill a good lunch.
One of The Best Values in NorCal
I put Las Positas right behind Hiddenbrooke as far as value in NorCal and the best value in the East Bay with an under $70 round rate consistently. Well worth the rate whether you walk or ride.
Average Course
Decent course. Average conditions. Some holes are in awful conditions, like 9. The clubhouse is under renovations outside. The carts feel newish so that was nice. I have played here half a dozen times. Very walkable.
Biggest flaw for me is the weekend pricing. Just not worth it at all. Many other courses either same price or a few dollars more that are a way better value with better conditions.
The restaurant is interesting, and has some pretty solid food. Nice to end a round and watch some sports or what not on the TV’s that feels more than a golf course kitchen.
I’m sure I’ll be back, but not my go to course in the area.
Ridiculously slow pace of play
Another 5 1/2 hour round at Las Positas. It’s sad because they are doing course improvements.
But this may be the only course in California that doesn’t have an on course Marshal on a weekend. It’s ridiculous. Two groups in front of us fell like two holes behind and nothing. No course management whatsoever.
This is a course of last resort when you can’t get a tee time anywhere else.
Will go back to Las positas
First time playing Las Positas and I found it to be a good experience. Staff is friendly and the greens are in excellent shape. Got through the round in 3.5 hours and didn't have to wait on any tee or feel "pushed". Allowed one single to go thru and he probably finished in 2.5 hours.
Only detraction was some standing water on the course but given that it is the start of a heat wave, I understand. I will go back again.
