Hole in the wall
I don’t mean hole in the wall in a positive sense. The fact that this place is still in business is astonishing. The staff was friendly but the “pro shop” smelled like a damp basement and looked abandoned from the outside. All the “sand traps” were just grass craters. This course was probably pretty decent 30 years ago but it’s hanging on to dear life now. I will say, if you pay for what you get then $34 for 18 adds up
Course condition
This course is in terrible condition. The greens are a mess. Forget about putting unless you like putting with your ball jumping the whole way. The worst golf carts I ever seen. The front wheels go east and west. Will tired you out just to steer in the direction you need to go. 50 % of the carts are damage axles or crooked wheels. I wouldn't play this course ever again .
Beautiful Day of Golf
Pleasant morning. Course was in very good condition. Was able to play at my own pace - around 3 hours for 18 holes. Cost almost nothing with discounts on a last minute booking. Hard to beat.
Carts are crap
The carts were broken most of them. They steered like crap no park brakes. The carts wobbled and made a ton of noise and hardly turned. They should charge $25 for 18 holes
Never coming back!!
Just gonna sum this up in a few words, carts are literally about to fall apart, awful greens. Never coming back here.
Great Course for the Money!!
Greens are maintained well & the course is well laid out. Don’t expect the greatest course, but well worth the money! Definitely will be back.
The staff was very friendly and tentative as we got food and drinks at the turn.
Pinetuck, Rock Hill’s Prestigious Landmark
Tell me there is a better place to shake off that winter golf rust than Pinetuck Country Club and I’ll tell you you’re wrong. I knew we were in for a treat when we pulled into the parking lot and my buddy said to me, “Where is the front door to this place?” One step into the “clubhouse?!” and we were greeted by the friendly pro shop attendant and the musk of Marlboro Red. We paid our green fees and were on our way to the first tee. Neither of us had any intention of hitting range balls because we were ready to take in this “diamond in the rough.” Thank goodness we didn’t buy range balls because 14 year old Happy Gilmore was out there in the middle of the driving range going to town on anything he could find; hitting the balls in every direction. We grabbed our clubs and headed to grab a golf cart. That’s where I was at my first crossroad of the day: do I choose the convertible or not? The forecast was nice but once I realized that the convertible didn’t have a place to put my golf clubs, I had to choose the cart with the bowed out wheels that looked like a toddler when they first learn to walk. The first tee was calling our name. As we approached the tee box, there was a sign that said “Today carts must use 90-degree rule.” However, the sign was also at 90-degrees which I think it was a sign telling me to do a 180 back to the parking lot to leave. I had other plans in mind though, to take in Rock Hill’s #1 golfing destination. My partner and I tee off and we head down the cart path on hole one where I realized my golf cart had a mind of its own and no matter where I tried to drive it, it went the other direction. I wasn’t going to let this ruin my day and lets be honest, there weren’t any better options back at the clubhouse so I did what everyone would do and turned on “Jesus Take The Wheel” on my speaker and continued to my ball. My approach shot I would rate a 7/10 but I was on the green and putting for birdie. As I walked up to the green, I could tell the Superintendent at Pinetuck went to the best Turfgrass Management Program in the country, York Tech. The green had more craters and bumps than the moon and a teenager with acne combined. I two putted for par and went back to my cart to jot my score down on the scorecard that just came fresh off the Xerox machine. We continued to play the front nine and instead of stopping at the clubhouse on the turn for a chili dog like the group behind us (brave guys if I must say), we headed to the tenth tee. We weren’t exactly sure it was the tenth tee because there was no hole signage at any of the holes on the course. So we teed off not knowing if this was hole 1 or 10 that was until we saw the signature 17th hole. The cart path to get there though brought me some childhood nostalgia. The cart path was under water and we only had one choice: ford the river. Thankfully, we were successful and none of us died of dysentery. Look, I’ve never played TPC Sawgrass before but I would bet my last dollar that the average golfer or PGA tour pro can’t tell the difference between the 17th at TPC Sawgrass or Pinetuck. It was then that I realized that the money they saved by printing their scorecards on paper was put towards giving that 17th green the tender loving care it deserved. I hit the green with my tee shot and two putted for par thanks to my putter aka the Mars rover. I saved my best drive for the last hole because I thought there was crowd noise coming from behind the 18th green. Come to find out it wasn’t fans in the gallery instead it was someones radiator that was overheating in the parking lot. Our round had ended but not with one last gift. The amazing golf ball whacker guy was still in the middle of the driving range going to town, terrorizing the paying patrons that traveled from afar to visit this national treasure. 10/10: Would not return.
Course in very poor condition!
The course in spite of the time of year lacked anything that had a resemblance of grass!
Always a cost efficient course
Played this course for the second time definitely love the course! You get what you pay for and this is definitely money well spent!
All about the fun of the game!
Went here with a friend and we definitely had a blast playing it! Definitely challenging and good for your money!
Had to walk front 9 because no carts were available, and staff didn’t care. Back 9 had a cart that belonged in a junkyard. Course is in terrible shape, even realizing the time of year. It’s obvious that the Ownership does not care about the course or the facility.
