Edgewater Golf Club has a peaceful setting tucked away in Lancaster. The course feels completely secluded with a layout that tumbles across rolling hills covered with a blanket of matures trees. The terrain is as scenic as it is challenging, providing the layout with dramatic elevation changes and plenty of water. In addition to the natural hazards, there are numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. An abundance of wildlife also calls the golf course home, so don't be surprised if you see deer or turkeys roaming the course. One of Edgewater Golf Club's most memorable holes is the par-4 seventh. This tricky hole is a downhill dogleg left that forces you to drive right-center of the fairway, followed by a tough approach to a green that sits on the bank above Fishing Lake Creek.

Pace of play is awful

Pace of play is often too slow at this course, but when I played on 5/6/26, it was terrible because the course had designated 5 of the first 9 holes as “cart path only” for no reason. It hadn’t rained and there was nothing threatening the fairways. Our group had to wait at every tee box, sometimes for 2 groups to tee off ahead of us. It took 2.5 hours to play 9 holes, and the course wasn’t even crowded! After the front 9, I gave up and went home (even though I had paid for 18) because I saw 3 groups lined up to play #10.

Target golf

The course is in the heart of Edgewater community. Very new course in the area. It had some re-sodding done on a few of the holes and the greens had been sanded. Back nine was very much target golf as even with a middle fairway drive, your ball could roll off the fairway into the various pine straw or rough. Over all good course. Course management is a must.

Everything is great, except base of play

The new clubhouse is fabulous. This course has everything you could want. The only negatives were the pace of play (over five hours and we didn’t even stop at the clubhouse after front nine) and they have a cumbersome way of getting your bags back to your car after you’re around (they don’t allow you to drive your cart into the parking lot to unload your bags). I still rank this course very highly and recommend it to all levels of golfers.

Always a good time. Cart path only the day we played so it was a little slow.

Great layout, some conditions need improvement

Great layout and elevation changes, greens were rolling pretty true but a little slow. Great new clubhouse, very nice practice facility and the people are all very friendly. Gas powered golf cars are new. But the tee boxes were in as tough a shape as anywhere in the Charlotte region. Fairways were good. Fringe on the greens were cut very wide to allow greens to recover this Spring. Those will thin down when growth improves. Traps had not been raked in a few days. Overall, fix the tee boxes and its as nice of a public course as you will get within an hour of Charlotte.

Country club feel

Always like the trip to Lancaster to play this tract. Greens are in good shape while fairways are a bit thin with tight lies. Great range and massive putting green.

Great course

Course is in great shape, especially considering the drought we are in. Love the course and I try to play it once a week.

Not as i remembered it

Played the course around 20 years ago. Man I am old…

Course was pretty new back then. Beautiful fairways, greens were good. Zero homes on the course.

Fast forward to April 2026:

New clubhouse, new carts, very friendly staff and felt very welcomed. Nice Toptracer range covered with good mats

The greens were recently aerated so they offered us free range balls. Nice touch.

Areas of improvement:

Lots of Poa Annua grass in the fairways and rough. Some worse than others. Slow group holding up several groups behind them. One of the players was not very good and was playing from the back tees. Our group nicknamed him “The Tipper”. Typical slow player. Multiple practice swings and then top every shot.

Nice course but fairways could use some love.

Greens Just Punched and Sanded

This is a fault in the GOLFPASS app. It should inform you if the conditions, i.e. just punched and sanded the greens making putting the ball all but useless exist. It does not so we made the drive from Charlotte only to find we were stuck with it. Very disappointing to say the least.

Disappointed

Just played yesterday, only could play back 9 because of air-rated the front. Didn't know that until we arrived. Have played there many times before, the fairways were shabby and the whole course was the worse I have ever seen it. Maybe due to lack of rain.

Great course for the price.

Course conditions are improving daily with warmer weather. Greens are in great condition. Pace of play could improve, marshals/rangers need to push groups to maintain contact with group in front of them.

Fun course in great shape

Second time playing here (first time was last year about the same time of year). The course has not yet fully grown into spring conditions, but it was great for this time of year. Some tee boxes were a bit sandy and there were a few patchy areas in the fairways but nothing that created a problem. Greens were slower than expected, due to dew and longer cut, but rolled well. Bunkers were fantastic. It looked like there were several improvement projects ongoing in many parts of the course. Carts and cart paths were nice, Lots of elevation changes and some long distances between holes, so not a course for walkers. We would enjoy coming back later in the season, because this course will probably be fantastic. Great practice facilities and a new clubhouse top it all.

Always enjoy this course. The conditions were not as good as usual but that will not stop me from coming back. The pro shop staff is very friendly.

Nice course but sub par conditions

Course is nice but conditions are sub par.

Tees are dirt not much grass. Greens are good but all the fringe is aerated with holes really bad.

Also confusing to get to the first tee. No signs from the new club house. Very rude starter, he was rude about how we found our way to the first tee and continued to be rude several times.

Great course, but overpriced

Really enjoyed the course overall. Layout and condition were solid, and I’d still recommend playing it. The fairways could use a little work, but my biggest issue was the price. It’s a great course, just too expensive for what you get.
