Golfer Reviews
Always a good time
The greens were fast. The farways were forgiving. The tee boxes still needs some work, they are still hard as rocks and hard to put plastic tees in. Still it was a great time.
Close the Doors
So I pull into the parking lot and see a completely run down club house. I then get out and take a look around. Practice green is ok. I go to check in, and the gentleman behind counter does not even say hello. I let him know my tee time and ask him if they carry logo balls. His response is no we haven't carried them in years. This is a little disappointing to me since I collect them for each course I play. O well, lets continue, I get a range token of which most every ball is covered in dirt and look like they have been there since they opened the course. Some of the balls the dimples are worn off. The range hitting area basically has no grass to hit off of, so lets go play some golf " I guess". At this point I am just about ready to just say forget it and I would have if I did not drive 45 minutes to get here. So about the course,
Tee boxes- just about every one did not have any grass to hit off of, I rarely hit from the markers for this reason.
Fairways- again hardly any grass around
Greens- the best thing on the course and they were in better than poor condition.
I almost forgot the golf carts, most of them had broken windshield's and the first one I took did not even have brakes.
So I think it is quite obvious I will never play here again and would highly recommend you don't as well.
not a bad course
This course is not to bad love the lay out and the greens were really nice to putt on. There is a course in Charlotte which is where I live that closely resembles Pine tuck for about the same value. If I am down in the area of Pinetuck I would play it again but being that there is a course closer to home that resembles Pine tuck not sure I would make a special trip just to play it. I really enjoyed the round overall though.
Better greens this time
Last time I played there was about three years ago some idiot drove a vehicle through one of the greens, and had a lot of crab grass.
This time the greens are in decent shape. They were rolled and very nice. It's a old country course, but priced about right for the hot deal rate.
Lot of blind shots. It plays fairly short from the back blue tees at about 6600 yards. Take a layover app on smartphone bc its hard to see over some hills.
I played as a solo and on the tee some locals were not asking on pairing up. There were about 5 senior groups out and played awfully slow. One let me play through.
Turned out to be nice day, met a few cool golfers. Drove 30 min from Charlotte but may not be back for awhile till I go back
Just Walk
You might be better off just walking this course. The first cart I used started malfunctioning on hole#3. I thought I just had bad luck and picked a bad cart. I powered through the remaining holes before the turn by barely pressing the gas pedal and moving at a snail's pace. A gentleman walking behind us kept up with us throughout the way. At the turn I switched carts with a new one. One hole into the back nine, same malfunction starts occurring. Ruined the day for me. The fairways were also very poor.
Course not too bad
Course in fair shape for the winter. Greens were in good shape. Would play again.
I enjoy playing at Pinetuck. The fairways need some work but the greens are ok. The staff is friendly and the price is good.
Wow......
This local track has been a favorite of ours for a long time, but seems to be on a downward spiral. The $37 rack rate is extremely too high for this pasture land with holes in the ground. We also experienced something I have never seen before. We made it to hole 6, then my playing partners cart began to act up and would barely move up the slightest incline. The 'clubhouse' was called and another cart was immediately brought out to us. We proceed on and make it to hole 8 where we see the group ahead pulling their clubs off the cart and hoof it. The guys drop them off a cart. They move to the 9th tee. We pull up and they wave us through as they wait on yet another replacement cart. Fast forward to 14th green. My buddies replacement cart now breaks down. The staff bring another beat up, worn out piece of junk and say yhis should get us back around. PPPFFFTTT. Yeah.... So, yeah, that is how our day went......
Slow play and course in ok at best shape
Extremely slow pace to the point I'm writing this review while playing. We are a two some playing with a two some in front of us that have brought their wife's and probably 3-4 yr old children. But even if they let us pass we couldn't go anywhere because it's so backed up. We've played 5 holes in an hour an a half. Save your money and play somewhere else. This is a $20 at best course luckily we saved money on golf now.
Nice rolling greens....
Overall the course was in good condition.... that was not the case for the weather. It was windy and had rained the night before so the courses drainage issues showed up but was to be expected. The greens still held up and rolled true. There are some challenging hope but nothing to dramatic. Overall I was pleased with the course. I will play here again.
Pinetuck winter golf
20 bucks to play is a great deal. Greens are in very very nice shape for this time of year. The layout is pretty cool and again for 20 bucks you can't go wrong. There isn't much to speak about for anything else about the place except for the golf as the bar and clubhouse are extremely dated.
Not worth your money!!!
Old looking pro show, beverage and snacks area does not take any kind of cards....hello it's 2016!!! Now for the golf course do you like playing in a cow pasture? Because that's what the fairways look like, and the driving range as well. They say their greens are "best in area"......then just don't play golf in this area!!! Greens where ok, had some green color and some speed to them. But too many balls marks left not repaired. I really hate to be so rude here but, the place is a DUMP....NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY!!!
