5 Stars in my Heart

If you’ve played here in the past you know what to expect. If you’re looking for perfect fairways and greens and all around great conditions, this is not the place for you. However, if you’re looking for a great time with the boys this is the spot. Conditions are questionable but their recent maintenance has left it in much better shape than earlier this summer. Always the friendliest gentlemen in the Pro Shop to come through with the hot dogs. Layout is amazing there’s hardly any parallel holes. It’s a gem past its prime, but it’s always a fun time if you’re able to manage your expectations.

Don't waste your money

This course looks like it was abandoned years ago. The entire course is infested with ant hills, the fairways are all muddy and dead with ankle high weeds, the greens are either dead or completely uneven and the sand traps are pits of mud taken over by all kinds of plants. The cart path is nonexistent so you follow a dirt trail left by the group ahead of you. If you play this course expect to lose half of the balls you hit in the fairway and to be covered in various bug bites, mud/dirt and plants when you're finished playing.

WPS

The course is in really bad shape. Fire ants are everywhere and it was very hard to not step on or near a mound. The greens on the back 9 were awful and most had weeds growing all through them. The back 9 greens were better but still not great. Also, the rough was super long and on one hole, the woods had grown over the entire cart path.

I couldn’t find the putting green as I think it had completely gone wild. Sandtraps were left to go wild, full of rocks, dirt and and weeds. On some holes, the rakes were still there laying under the weeds and fire ant mounds. The course needs serious work on greens, sand filled sand traps and fire ant poisoning on all course property. We got stung 6 times. The course layout good and very difficult. I think it could be a great course if it’s fixed.

The guy running the golf shop was very nice and helpful.

Really bad greens

The lady working was the friendliest person ever. The course was just in such bad shape. Nothing really for sale in the pro shop, no rental clubs, the greens were so horrible that I just got to green and called it a two putt. The staff was so friendly I hope they do some work on the course. The beer is super cheap, I would overall play again if it was the only place with a tee time.

Neglected course

I have played here before when the course was somewhat maintained and they have let it go. Of the 9 holes played 3 greens would be rated as minimally acceptable. There other 6 greens would be rated unplayable. The tee boxes were also very rough and poorly maintained if at all. Fairways were fair. This course has just been neglected by management and it shows. No one there because no one wants to play a poorly maintained course.

Pinefuck #69

Oh Pinefuck #69… it has a special place in my heart. If you’re looking for a well maintained course, it’s not for you. However, if you’re looking for a course where you can bum a lighter for your bowl from the grounds keeper or get hazed by the drunk locals in the clubhouse, you’ve found the right place.

While it’s far from the nicest course, the smell of freedom in there air is invigorating. Before you take off for your round, make sure you get a cart where the brakes lock and the roof is securely fastened on. The cart paths are as bumpy as my nose on a snowy morning ;) and the fairways are longer than the rough. Play this course with low expectations and a golf bag full of party and you’ll have a great time.

Terrible conditions

I played here 10 years ago and it was much better then. Apparently they were closed for 5 weeks earlier this year due to the owner passing away. The greens were full of crabgrass as well as the bunkers, rough and tees. Sad to see such a nice layout under these conditions and hopefully the new owner can turn this place around.

Great potential, terrible otherwise

The layout and the potential of this place is amazing. However, it’s clear that upkeep basically doesn’t exist. $40 for 18 is highway robbery. BUT - I’d check it out again simply because with the right owners it would be a great place to golf.

Even at a discount, not worth it

Pinetuck's website boasts that they are "often noted in Charlotte golfing circles for having some of the best putting surfaces in the area." I can't imagine someone said this anytime recently. The greens are dead. There were multiple holes where it was just compacted mud, rather than grass, for over half of the green. I play budget courses, so I don't expect this to be Augusta. But these greens have been neglected.

We also lost a number of golfballs in the middle of the fairway, as the grass is long enough to hide golfballs. We would see where the ball landed on the fairway, then have to circle the area in golfcarts to try to locate the ball.

This popped up as a "hot deal" and my friends and I thought "at that price, let's roll the dice and try it." Even at the hot deal price, you're overpaying.

Terrible course conditions

Save your coins this course is Ran down, greens don’t roll. Weeds all over the greens. Fairways are okay but the rough is overgrown and ridiculously not fun to play out of.
