Jimmy Clay Golf Course
About
Jimmy Clay Golf Course opened in 1974 with a 6,931 yard Joe Finger design that incorporates Williamson Creek. This track is flat as well, and is noted for its generous fairways and large, elevated greens. The first and last holes are perhaps the most memorable. No. 1 serves up a blind approach shot over a hill into a skinny green, and the 400-yard doglegged 18th plays into the wind with water on the left side.

A beautiful design. Photo submitted by idream0fg0lf on 11/26/2012
Great winter greens
Winter golf conditions depend on the greens and tees to me. Greens are excellent for a public course. I will play here again.
Jimmy clay
The layout was good. The greens were fast. Bunkers in good condition. The fairways need to come in more, the lies are tight.
Money!
we were a threesome and had 3 groups of 5 in front so we has to constantly stop and wait but otherwise great day at a great muni-golf course.
in some parts the grass was a little thick so we lost some balls ha ha but who doesn't.
Much Improved!
Greens are looking and rolling much better than in the past.
Bad Experience
Greens were heavily sodded and that was not mentioned at the time we booked. Staff was unfriendly as usual and told us the driving range was closed and then opened it 5 minutes later as we were teeing off. Forced to tee off on ten even though we were pretty much the only people at the facility. No explanation. Favorite course to play. Least favorite staff for customer service outside the guy working the grill yesterday.
Jimmy Clay
The course was in great condition and more challenging than it appeared.
Great Municipal
The course was a good shape and the pace was great 3 1/2 hours. This is a good city course to visit.
Great
The course was in great shape and the marshall kept the pace moving.
just ok
very bland course, greens super slow, pace of play terrible, and im gunna be snobby but the other peoples golf etiquette was terrible, if you just want to drink beers and knock it around its alright but for a golf nut its more annoying.
Jimmy Clay Golf Course
The course is in good condition considering the lack of rain and extreme heat in the Austin area.
Nice and Green
Brutal heat has not deterred the course superintendents from pouring the water to the fairways and greens. So, course was in good shape, including tee boxes and fairways. Greens putted true, and rough was nicely mowed and edged. Very enjoyable round.
Hot Round
Second time playing Jimmy Clay. Pretty much had the course to myself, and other intrepid souls, in 110 degree heat. That said, course is in good shape. Of course, turf loves heat and water, and this course has been getting plenty of both. Kudos to staff for keeping it well irrigated.
Greens rolled true. Plenty of cold drinking water was available at the hydration stops.
Keep up the good work.
