Jimmy Clay Golf Course
About
Jimmy Clay Golf Course opened in 1974 with a 6,931 yard Joe Finger design that incorporates Williamson Creek. This track is flat as well, and is noted for its generous fairways and large, elevated greens. The first and last holes are perhaps the most memorable. No. 1 serves up a blind approach shot over a hill into a skinny green, and the 400-yard doglegged 18th plays into the wind with water on the left side.

Pace was very SLOW!!
Jimmy Clay is a course I often visit. I was happy to find this 'Hot Deal' today, however, it would have been nice to know there was a 200 Senior organization member tournament going on. My round was 5 1/2 hours (Ridiculous)!!
Other than being in over 100 degree temperatures for a longer than necessary round, it was ok.
Always Good
The city of Austin, TX always does a great job on their city courses.
Wasn’t happy
We had a foursome in front they were walkers very slow always talking on every tee box, fairways and greens. I guess they are members cause s it was like they own the course. It was a 5 hour round. Was late to tee off cause of the same thing. I was happy with the course wasn’t in good shape. Will not play there again. I was told by other golfers it was in good shape.it wasn’t good to me.
Fast, Fun Round
My first time playing Jimmy Clay was very enjoyable. The recent rain was beneficial as the course was green, with fairways, greens and tees in great shape. Our threesome got around in four hours, no waiting. We played from the white tees, so yardage measured around 5800, according to the card. Rough was short and the traps were well manicured with good sand. All in all, a good muni test. Will do it again.
Five Stars all the Way
Have not played this course in over 20 years. The greens rolled well the fairways were trimmed. Great deal after 2 PM Can’t wait to get back to Austin to play again.
Great day!!
Had a fantastic day of golf. Took a cousin of mine that has never played, and he turned out to be a great caddy. He had a great first experience with the golf game and looks forward to the next round. I would like to thank the staff and grounds crew of jimmy clay/ Roy Kizer golf club for their work they put in day in day out.
tee time screw up
We were about to tee off with a group of 3, as we were told is was a threesome. Out of nowhere a guy came ups and said he didnt know which group he was in and asked to play with us. I would have said no-because he was with the next group-but we agreed.
He paid much slower than us. I left after 13 holes.
No ranger at tee off, that is the golf course responsibility on a busy day.
Currently Best Muni in Austin
The title says it all. Greens rolling true. Fairways hard but its Texas.
Slow play
A tournament was going on on the sister course at Roy Kizer. This caused extreme slowplay on Jimmy Clay course. Toomany five dimes and ineffective Marshalling on the course
Solid Day on Kizer's little brother.
Played Clay for the first time in a while (usually play Kizer because I love how open it is). Course is in great shape (as most are this time of year), only complaint is the greens are pretty slow. I forgot the solid variety of holes out there, you need to work it both ways off the tee, definitely a first shot golf course. Overall, a really fun afternoon and good value for the $$.
Good for municipal course
Every thing good, no problems, some holes carts not allowed on fairway, makes it hard for older, handicapped golfers.
I agree!
