Jimmy Clay Golf Course
About
Jimmy Clay Golf Course opened in 1974 with a 6,931 yard Joe Finger design that incorporates Williamson Creek. This track is flat as well, and is noted for its generous fairways and large, elevated greens. The first and last holes are perhaps the most memorable. No. 1 serves up a blind approach shot over a hill into a skinny green, and the 400-yard doglegged 18th plays into the wind with water on the left side.

Excellent shape
Great condition. This course is the best value for the money in austin
Great Job!
Jimmy Clay was in the best shape I've ever seen. The course was packed due to the beautiful weather, but still kept a solid pace. Overall a great experience for the $21 GolfNow price tag.
Fun track in great shape
Haven't played here in years, but found course in great shape. Early Friday morning tee time and course pretty open with more folks on course by mid-morning. Greens in good shape, but fairly slow.
Bang for your buck
Love playing Jimmy Clay and Roy Kizer golf courses. Recently renovated driving range, 2 practice greens, and new clubhouse grill/bar area are great features. Courses are green and well maintained. Michael Felan Sr. in the proshop always provides excellent customer service. Course is a great value will definitely keep coming back.
Awesome course
It was a great course but it was moving slow on the second half. There was a lot of waiting around.
Great Day
all in all the course played well, the greens are in better shape than last year. although they play slower, looks like they went with a different type of bermuda. it's a thicker blade which slows down your putts. for instance hole 10 used to be so slick your putt used to slide so fast, but now they sort of stick to the green. Yet they keep the course playing very well I will definately be back.
Great Bang for Your Buck!
Second time playing this month and this course is really a fun layout. Enough trees, water hazard, and bunker to try even the lowest handicapper. For the price of this course it's a steal with how great the conditions are. Fairways could use some work but from tee to green it's really in good shape.
Front and Back Reversed
Play started on 10 and finished on 9. This has been going on for a very long time. Management might consider renumbering the holes. Other than that, the course is in great condition and the pace of play was 4:00 on a Wednesday afternoon.
Good cousre
Jimmy Clay is a fun course. It's a little more difficult than Roy Kizer, however the wind is not as bad, as Kizer. Clay has more trees. I have read other reviews were golfer's have had issues with staff. I never have the staff is always gracious and accommodating. Roy Kizer is in a little better shape than Jimmy Clay right now. I play both Clay and Kizer and they are both great courses.
Course conditions and pace
Love this course with major improvements on tee boxes and greens. Fairways are hard as a rock with limited grass. Rangers did a horrible job of keeping pace going allowing singles and doubles not to group up. The bathrooms were being renovated, so had porta potties which is fine, but there was no soap avail for cleaning hands.
We played in the pouring rain but conditions held up pretty good. Greens are still pretty firm and fast. Considering Mo Willy's been struggling recently, we'll be playing here and Lions for awhile in ATX.
One of those annoying rounds where rain basically cleared off the whole golf course except the slow foursome ahead of us. What can you do.
Cold day
It was brisk which helped with pace of play...not many people out. Greens need some love but were in pretty good shape.
Very good condition for winter
Unlike the Roy Kizer course ... This one has different layout with trees in play ... Condition is very good for winter and for sure it is very nice in the other seasons ... Fairways are green and the greens are rolling pretty good ... Design for all skill levels and the staff were accommodating... Will be back if in the area again.
Great time.
Even though the course was pretty wet we were able to get around in four hours and had a great time.
Sandy greens
Things should be normal again in 10 days. Snack bar is temporarily closed. Clay is a classic muni. Nice value from Golf Now.
Good track.....greens are rolling beautifully right now.
Just wanted to say that the greens are exceptional right now. Jimmy Clay remains a fun layout with a few challenging holes. Three hours and 40 minutes for my threesome today.
