Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Legends Course
About
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon offers two 18-hole championship courses, the Legends and the Champions. Nestled in the foothills of the San Gorgoncio and San Jacinto Mountains, both courses have a scenic landscape that offers stunning views. The Legends Course is the newer of the two but it provides just as challenging a game as the Champions, which is a PGA Tour favorite. The Legends twists and turns through the winding elevations, demanding accuracy throughout. Like its sister golf course, there are numerous steep-lipped bunkers treacherously placed along the greensides. The rough is also tall, thick, and unforgiving. The tricky par-3 fourth hole is played from the highest point on the property. From the tee, the canyon seems more intimidating but the wildly sloped green is where the challenge begins.

Great Course !
We have played the Legends course several times over the last couple of years and my friend Eric and I have enjoyed ever more since we played it the first time. The course is a challenge particularly for an old guy like me at 73 but it has always been in great shape and the scenery is magnificent. The folks managing the course are friendly and the bar and food were great also.....
Generous Fairways....Well Protected Greens!
You don't need to drive the ball straight to have success but you better think about the approach! You find one of the deep bunkers and the score can add up pretty quickly. Great course....I just wish the practice balls would be included!
Legends was good, just a tad slow.
Course swas in pretty good shape. Got off right on time. Did take 5 hours to play, but moved pretty steady on a gorgeous day. Cart paths could use some maintenance in spots. Overall good. At $51 booking prepaid online it was good deal.
course is challenging but fair
played with friends enjoyed the layout would have to play a couple of times to know were to land on the greens , tough pin placements with undglating greens ,so course knowledge is a bonus . Will definitely play again , one thing about this course try to play it on a calm day it can be a windy location .
Tranquil
I booked a tee time through Golfnow and I was very lucky to scoop up a 12 O' clock Tee-time. The forecast was slight chance of rain, but was a nice cloudy day. The best thing was there was no one there, because the weather conditions. I played the champions course and it that particular course has a lot of par 3's and 4's but very challenging. The greens and fairways are in perfect condition. Staff is friendly and course is peaceful and nice!
Nicest course outside of Palm Springs
Outside of Palm Springs but well worth the drive. I play to a 10 and the Champions was great test off the blues. Great layout, fast undulating greens, good risk/reward holes and always good lies. SO MUCH BETTER THAN PS COURSE CONDITIONS. Very glad i played this awesome course
Beautiful but windy round
We played the Champion course and saw only a few other players which was great. This is a very challenging course with lots of sand and terrain. The course was a bit wet and mucky in spots but overall in very good condition. The staff did not provide much guidance so we were not sure if we were playing on the correct course (there are 2) but it didn't seem to matter since there were few people about. Good value for money if you are willing to drive a bit from Palm Springs.
Rugged beauty
Very much a hidden jem, we where very pleased with the quality and challange of the legends course. From unique cliff hanger par 3 to twisted shot making par 5's. An enjoyable day on the links.
Great course
The greens are in great conditions. It gets tough this time of the year with the winds but I enjoy playing at this course all year round.
Great conditions for November
This is a top course and the conditions were surprisingly excellent for November.
Great scenery.
Recommended for golfers not for hackers.
I'm 11 HCP.
Typical Fall Golf
Be aware that the course is VERY wet. Carts on fairways will leave tire tracks. There was standing water in several bunkers.
The group in front of us (regular members who were very familiar with the course) was very slow. We chose to cut our round short and having passed them to head in, found that they were 4 to five holes behind the group in front of them. Marshals need to move them along.
Great course, golf cart shut-ff annoying
Beautiful layout, challenging but fair. Golf cart shut off when you approach greens unrealistic. My cart on some holes shut down 60 yards out and if you leave cart path toward the rough it also shuts down. Best solution: signs to indicate "Proceed no farther in this direction or cart will shut down".
Course conditions where horrid.
I've been wanting to play this course for quite some time now, unfortunately I was badly let down when I did. Where to start, First the staff were excellent, friendly and helpful when ever they could be, the reason for the low overall ranking is strictly the course conditions. Way too much water being used to the point of cart tire marks throughout the course, i mean deep trenches where the carts were spinning their wheels. the Tee boxes were basically all sand, really torn up. the fairways like i mentioned were covered with trenches from the carts, the greens were some of the absolute worst I have played on in the last 6 months. They were covered with ball marks from people not fixing their chip in shots. The greens were too wet which caused the ball to plug terribly. There was so much water that the grass was actually turning yellow from too much. The layout was average, nothing spectacular, my wife likes to take pictures but she didn't even snap any pictures of the course which tells me allot. The carts went into a degraded status when you started to approach the green, many of the holes this was 100 yards plus away from the green which was a bit of an overkill in my opinion. Overall I feel i wasted money on this course and at only $32 which is very reasonable that should tell you something. Will I be playing this course again, No I will not be playing it again. If I were the owners of the course I would be looking for a new Head Grounds Keeper.
Good Day
Course won today! I took a couple of weeks off, and it showed!
Hot, but great day in the desert.
The course was in great condition, and the surrounding scenery was unreal. The cart is nice and the tablet GPS system in the cart is awesome. There was no delay in play, but that is likely because I was the only crazy one playing golf in the desert in the middle of the day in mid July. The course workers were friendly and respectful to me playing, but I am not easily distracted by noise. I would play here again or perhaps their other course, The Champions, next time.
Gone downhill
Haven't played here in a few months but have always been used to it being in great condition even tho there is a drought. Was expecting the same but got a huge shock. Fairways were awful in a lot of places-nothing basically but dirt. Alot of the edges of the fairways were dirt or dead grass as well. Had a lot of bad lies as a result. Tee boxes were okay-greens were in very good condition. Not very crowded on a Sat morning-I'm sure course conditions have a lot to do with it. Felt like a muni-not worth $55 green fee
