ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
About
The National course is a classic American-style layout that rolls through 200 acres of southern woodlands and wetlands. Unique bunkering, tree-lined fairways and intriguing green designs define shot making challenges. In particular, golfers are apt to remember the National for its testing par 3 holes and for the double green shared by holes 4 & 16.

Golfer Reviews
I played the National course, (my 4th time in a 9 day period), and it was in great shape considering the amount of rain we have had in the area. So clearly there is excellent drainage. The course layout is very playable for all levels. I am a 16 handicapper and feel comfortable playing from either the white tees when I am with high handicappers or the blue tees when playing with single digit handicappers. I do not play any further back than that. It is a fun track for players of all levels
Very nice course
The course plays a little tight. It forces one to be careful of the tee. Considering the amount of rain the area has had the course was in good shape. Some sand traps were filled with water but most played ok. Greens were recently aerated but were on the way back and rolled just fine. Staff was great. I would definitely come back.
You will not find a better Greg Norman track for this price
Course was soaked but they didn’t make it cart path only. Starter was very friendly as well as the entire staff. Would and will beat this course to death for the summer rate. Not overly challenging but will keep good players honest.
Not what I expected given previous reviews
With regards to the course the greens still show signs of airification which took place last month, and the waste areas are that wet, if they are not holding standing water the ball is actually plugging in some of them! The course layout is very forgiving in the large part which therefore doesn’t provide much of a challenge.
However the biggest issue I had was the greeting. With the exception of the pro shop; specially the bag drop to the starter - I found this facility the least welcoming place I have visited in 20 years of coming to the USA! Not to forget, no towels on the cart, the touch screen GPS being misaligned and also being provided with the wrong scorecard made this a below par experience.
Challenge
If you are looking for a pro style course that is fun and challenging I recommend taking your best shot here. The course was amazing even with aerification just being completed. The staff was absolutely so friendly and amazing. I will definitely come back and play this course again and again.
Challenging but still good scoring opportunities
Greens had just been aerated but overall in great shape. Summer heat not an issue as light rain on and off kept us cool. Greens in good shape considering the treatment. All other aspects excellent. Staff was awesome and made it feel like my home club. Pro shop well stocked and in top level manner. My adult sons were impressed that I treated them to golf at a luxury club!
great day great time excellant course
This was my first time playing this course. What a great time. From the time we pulled in to the time we left everything was top notch. Was pleasently surprised that the rate was cheaper when i arrived as a florida resident. First win of the day. The staff was extremely helpful and very attentive. The course was pretty soft with all the rain lately but only two holes were cart path only. Everything was in great condition. The greens were very receptive to shots and rolled very true and somewhat fast. Could not of asked for a better day with my son and will definitely return again and again. It was very hot but there was water on alot of holes and the beverage cart came around often. can't wait to play the other course when it reopens. If you're a local and haven't play here you are missing out as you can't beat the price !
Beautiful day for golf
Weather was beautiful, course was beautiful, if my golf game could have kept up with his nice and everything else it would have been an awesome round. I have not played this horse in years and it really blew me away how nice the greens and Fairways played.
Course in great shape - but no drinking water on course
The National course was in great shape considering the amount of rain it has recently received. The one big negative was that the water coolers past 4 were empty - ran out of water on 8 - it was 93, with humidity near 100% - a really dangerous situation in Central Florida in July - really disappointing for a hiigh end property
Challenging layout
The course that you want to go back and master it!
Great golf course
Played with my family and the course was in great shape even though it has been raining in Orlando every day for at least a week.
Check in was easy, getting the cart and to the range was quick, and teed off on time. Starter was friendly and gave us a few tips about the course which were helpful.
Highly recommend this course.
Course in excellent condition
I played the National course on a Friday and Sunday a couple of weeks ago. The course was in excellent condition. As someone else noted what appears to be very large bunkers were a bit muddy, but there were also no rakes so I think these are meant to be ponds. They weren't a factor so I forgot to ask about them. I played the International course last year and this is definitely a tighter course BUT it is an easier course. There is simply no where to miss on the International course.
Ignore the review blasting the course as impossible to score on and the greens being way too fast. They have no idea what they are talking about. If you want to see fast greens, go down the road to the Waldorf. If you want to see what a golf ball on ice looks like, go play TPC Las Vegas Canyons. I will note on Friday you could see some remnants of sand in the greens which probably was slowing the ball some. There was some heavy rains which probably washed the rest of that sand away and on Sunday the ball was a little faster, but I had not toruble sticking the ball on the green. Also, this was the first timne I had played in about 3 months after a pulling a back muscle really bad. I left the driver in the bag both days. I think I actually played better as a result because the course really does setup nicely for some layups. I was playing holes from the green and not the tee and I was scoring jsut fine.
The staff on Friday was super nice. The staff on Sunday acted like they would rather be doing other things. They weren't rude or anything, but a noticeable difference in their pleasantness. Beverage cart came around a lot both days. Facilities and water are stationed very well and plentiful.
Overall the work they have put into National has paid off. The course was in the best condition of any course I have played in a long time. It's an incredible value for the price. If you can hit the ball fairly straight you will be just fine, especially if you plan your shots.
Great track!
The course was in great shape and the greens were the best that I’ve played in a long time.
Give it a try
Thoroughly enjoyed my round. Managed to go our early as the weather didn’t look too good later in the day. The conditions of the greens were excellent as were the fairways. The only downside was that some of the bunkers had a fair bit of water in them which to be fair is to be expected with all the rain recently. The last hole is a monster of a par 5 and took 3 good hits to reach the green. Would happily visit again on next years vacation.
Unmemorable and slow
This place is an ok track with lovely greens. A few nice holes but largely unspectacular. Conditions other than the greens were average at best.
Got a twilight time for $23 but it ended up a nightmare as we ran into some slow groups of non golfers.
Would not play here again given the choice in the area.
Great course, excellent value
Great value, almost felt like I was stealing from them. Course is in great shape except for some of the large bunkers which resemble ponds. But most “normal” bunkers were in great shape, as was rest of course, especially for the super low summer rates they offer. Will play another round today.
Great round
Beautiful golf course, great conditions and pace of play was perfect. Excellent day of golf. Very nice merchandise in golf shop purchased a shirt and golf towel and had lunch and food was terrific!
Awesome course - wish pace was better
Played from the blues, was long, challenging but fair, greens were excellent. Pace of play was awful, 3 hours to play front 9. Found the slow group that was holding everything up on #11 when they were hanging out at beverage cart for 20 minutes, we passed them and finished in an hour. No marshal in course, that could have prevented this frustrating ongoing waiting, plus it was 93 degrees. BUT, loved the course!
So I’m assuming you recommend this course? I’m playing in October
