Not a course I'd recommend
Listen I'm as fair as they come to rating a course and Ashton hills is not in good condition. 75 percent or more of the greens have sod cut in or laid around the greens which r all covered in sand by the way. Fairways were in average shape..this used to b a nice track but needs many months to get there greens back in shape. Not a course I'd recommend.
not the greatest place
Greens were in horrible conditions.
Divots in the green
Dead grass on the green
Challenging course with fast greens and tight lies.
We played as a foursome on a great weather day. Greens were in good condition - very fast! However, overall course condition is just fair because of tight lies (fairway grass has not yet grown sufficiently). Some bunkers lacked sufficient sand. Watch for signage going to hole 12 - if you turn wrong way you could easily wind up at tee 15. Challenging course - You'll need your A game or it will be a long day.
Great value for the money
I used to play this course frequently when it was still called Indian Creek. They got bought out and I tried playing the course a month after they reopened under the name Ashton Hills about 18 months ago. I was really disappointed at the time b/c I paid full price and the course conditions were extremely poor at the time. I had read some good reviews lately and I decided to give them another chance on 4/20. I am glad I did. The course is now back in tip top shape. It is a great value for the money now and I really enjoyed playing it once again. I was able to book the first tee time and they let me go out as a single. Pace of play 2.5 hours. :)
[wish all rounds were under 3.5-4 hours]
Time 4 Golf!
Ashton Hills golf course is in great shape right now! The greens were fantastic & the green on hole number three is more accessible in the front.
Nice but could be better!
Got there in plenty of time and was told even though they were booking tee times they had a tournament going on and the course was slammed with 2 to 3 groups on every hole??? The course: tee boxes were sparse at best! Fairways mostly barren and muddy! Greens best part of the course, held fairly well but there were a million un-repaired ball marks. They were around 11 to 12 on the stimp and a lot of suttle undulations. Quite a nice track as far as layout and hole variation, however, if you have not played there it is nearly impossible to know where to hit it and where not to. We drove an hour to play and were frustrated that they booked us but had a tournament going on, just wanted our money, didn't really seem to care about our expeirence with them? Not sure!
Ashton Hills looking good
Wow is what I say about the greens. Fast, smooth and the cups are well kept meaning a lip out will occur if the ball in not in the hole. Fairways are good but it was a little wet. Pace was great. 2some played in 3 hours. If you've never played here be ready to hit long drives, avoid sand traps and putt carefully. Enjoy, I did!
Great and Challenging course
We had a great tee time being the first group out. The mowers were already out cutting the greens, creating perfect and fast conditions.
The grounds crew were already on top of a fallen tree on hole 9 enabling us to play through without hesitation.
I will definitely be back soon and recommend this course highly.
Solid course. Really good value
The greens were excellent and it had a challenging, but fair layout. Lots of character from all 18 holes
12 handicap
Fast greens. Tough track. Must play. Played four times this year. Never gets old.
Pretty nice course
The course was in fairly decent shape for the time of year here. The only thing I didnt like was because we booked our tee time on golf now they tried to tell us my partner and I had to team up with another set of guys and play foursome because we got the cheaper rate, which we just split up at the first tee box but wasn't to thrilled about that. Other than that the course was nice and challenging
Exceptional Service
I played this course on Feb. 23, 2014 and it was cart path only and the pace was very slow. I called the pro shop to ask for a raincheck and Chris the Assistant Pro offered to accomodate me and my golfing buddies in any way he could. We decided to continue the round and were able to get 17 holes in before dusk sat in.
Here is what I found exceptional. Chris calls me on Monday morning and ask if I were satisfied with finishing the round and wanted to make sure my experience was acceptable. I told him this was the first time I ever had a pro to call me personally. He wanted to make sure me and my group had a great experience.
I will play this track more now because of Chris and the staff at Ashton Hills.
They Weren't Kidding about the Hills
hills. Hills. HILLS. But a fun course. I pity the fool who walk this beast. She is long and she has tons of hills.
fun to play
sandtraps could use a bit more sand other than that course is great shape
The course provided lots of challenges
From the tee box if you are not a straight shooter put your driver down or you will be in the wood a lot. Stay in the fairway and avoid taking a nature walk through the woods. This course is very hilly and has lots of bunkers guarding the greens. We had great fun.
Good layout and a sporty course in very good shape. My biggest complaint was that there are hardly any yardage markers.
I liked the course and will go back. Don't go there without a range finder! The course is very poorly marked. You have no clue where the yardage markers are. Also sometimes a little confusing as to which tee your on, also poorly marked. No rangers. All and all it was a good experience and a fun track to play. The dinning room and bar looked good but is not open for dinner on Sun,Mon, and Tues.
Nice greens,Goodvarietyof doglegs
Very nice greens fast. Variety of dog legs ,quite a challenge. The par 3's were something a lot of hills to play with. Nice track.
Challenging track, nice greens, recommended
First time playing and was glad I did. The greens on this course are challenging: on the small side, quick, and plenty of break. You have to be precise on tee shots to get GIRs. Pace of play was great (twosome) on a weekend. Pro Shop staff was friendly. I recommend this course.
Super fast greens....
We booked a hot deal and when we arrived, the parking lot was full. The course was having a tournament. When arriving at the club house the golf pro said it was OK... the course was closed to the general public but would start us on an open hole that no one in the tournament was on. We eventually caught up to the tournament group but it was after 12 holes... I am glad we still golfed. This is an AWESOME course... just keep your drives in the fairway. Greens are fast but easy to read. A BEAUTIFUL course. I am glad we played.
Nice course east of Atlanta
Have played this course twice now and had a good experience both times. Greens seemed much faster the second time around. I will say that the staff could be a bit friendlier. Definitely one of the better courses in the area, aside from Cherokee Run.
