Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

pretty good
there were some really slow players ahead of me who wouldn’t let me play ahead but as a general rule it’s a decent course and you get what you pay for. i liked it
Bad course and poor management
One of the worst golf experiences I’ve ever had.
Bear Creek Golf Course in Monroe GA is in terrible shape — poor maintenance, bad fairways, rough greens, and an overall neglected feel.
Management is completely incompetent. Tee times mean absolutely nothing here. At hole #1, they allowed 3–4 groups piling up at the tee box, creating chaos and ruining the start of the round. No organization, no control, just frustration.
Pace of play was a joke. A group of SIX golfers was playing ahead of us (maximum is supposed to be 4), holding everyone up on every single shot. We waited constantly. We called the clubhouse asking for help, and the guy behind the counter literally said they had nobody to deal with it. That is totally unacceptable for any golf course.
On top of all that, they were short on carts. We had to wait an unreasonable amount of time just to get a cart loaded.
Bad course. Worse management. I will never come back and do NOT recommend this place to anyone.
:(
At the first tee there was 5 groups waiting to tee off. They had the tee times set 5 minutes apart? A guy walked in and was member and they lousy gave him a tee time 4 minutes before minakong out tee time 40 minutes late.
The group ahead of us (the members) joined up with their friend who where behind us to make 5 carts 8 players in front of us at the 12th hole. 5 hour plus round.
They are working on the course but u til they control tee times and groups of 8 I will Not be back.
Wanted to like it.
Like I said, really wanted to like it but the layout and course signage was terrible. Hole 2 and 18 T boxes were terrible. Took us 10 min to figure out where to even T off at. Then at hol 14, you had to do a u-turn to go to 15 and we didn't see that and got yelled at by some locals. T boxes are not level and even marked on some. Greens were nice and fast. Fairways were good. Just a lot of disrepair on this course.
Back at Bear Creek
It’s been 6mo since I’ve played here.
Course greens and fairways are in excellent shape. The greens are tight and fast so be warned, it cost me another stroke several times.
The course cart path just plain old stinks, I don’t think they can afford to fix them, with the amount of work they need.
The carts have seen better days but with bad cart paths why spend the money on new ones.
This course seems to have a higher level of retirees this making the pace of place a little slower than normal.
Over it’s a good track and I always enjoy playing here.
Poor management
I had a 11:40 tee time, I arrived at 11:00 and was informed that they did not have any carts. I asked how long before one would be available and was informed it would be an hour. We finally got a cart around 12:30. Every hole we had to wait 10 mins to tee off. Fairways were so thin you felt as if you were hitting off of concrete. At the turn our foursome wanted a hot dog and found that there was only one left, food service worker did not offer to cook anymore. There was no beverage cart either. The cart that we were given did not run right. To get it to go you had to put it in reverse then switch it to forward every time to get it to move. This course needs some proper management.
Bear Creek
Beautiful course, will definitely be back. Course layout is kind of confusing, but just follow signs for each hole.
Very slow pace of play, no Marshall or anybody to keep good pace. Every hole was waiting 10+ minutes to tee off not mentioning waiting time on fairways. Course was nice but cart paths are awful
Nice course very slow
Course is under construction but still nice and playable. Took almost 6.5 hours to complete 18 holes due to the course Marshall allowing unscheduled personal tournaments and 6 players to be in a group ahead of us. Probably won’t play this again due to that as it have never take. 6.5 hours for 2 people to play 18.
Disappointed
I’ve played this course quite a few times over the last few years and while I’ve seen a lot of improvements over the last couple years, the efforts seemed to have stalled. Oddly, the greens were decent. The fairways are a little rough and the rough is just thin and tall. If you miss the fairway even by a little it’s 50/50 as to whether you’ll find your ball. Carts are old and in need of repair. Carts are too few for the number of tee times booked. We were told on hole 18 after teeing off at 7am that they were waiting on carts by the starter. This was about 11:05 and we were approaching the green. 4:05 for 18 holes is hardly slow considering they made us tee off in the dark as the sun was coming up. Probably our fault for booking the first tee time of the day. I hope this course improves. I do like the layout and I love how close to home it is but right now, it’s overpriced for what it is.
Back 9 trouble.
The front was ok. But the back was a different story, the holes didn't match the score card, and I think no.16 was close ,they weren't marked correctly. But nice greens and fair ways.
I was turned around
They said they had no openings and turned me around yet I got charged 180$
Just OK
Not the worst course, but certainly not great. The layout and paths are confusing. The greens upkeep was marginal, with several bald spots and damaged hole edges. Flags leaned because they didn’t exactly fit the cup. Cart quality was lacking. Staff was nice and helpful. Could be a good place to play a round with some TLC, but not a serious course right now. There were some signs that there was remodeling being done, but there were also signs that those efforts may have stalled. My round was still enjoyable, but price was a little high for the current quality. With other, better courses nearby, I would not recommend it at this time. However, I will visit again when/if remodel is completed.
