Truly Hidden Gem!
I read about Lakes of Taylor in an article in the Detroit Free Press a few weeks ago and set up my tee time based on that recommendation alone. Frankly, they didn't do it justice. Lakes of Taylor is a challenging course for every skill level however it's forgiving enough for the average weekend duffer like me. The course is meticulously cared for, the greens are firm, true and accepting all at the same time, but beware of buried elephants! The staff is a friendly as you'll find at any up north club and they keep the pace moving in a friendly way. A course called "The Lakes" of Taylor, as you might expect, has a fair amount of water on it but in many cases it's only there to trick your eyes into thinking its in play. Well struck balls are rarely threatened by the water, but there are a few holes where you'll need to fly the water. 17 and 18 are two of the most picturesque closing holes I've played this year.
I'm not sure how they keep the pricing at $40, but I've played this level of course for $75 - $80 and felt it was a bargain. Lakes of Taylor for the quality of course and value is more than worth the 30 minute drive from my house in Novi and will be added to my regular rotation of courses to play.
One of the best values
The course is in great condition. Although there was a lot of rain yesterday, the course was not overly saturated. The tee boxes, fairways, rough and greens are well-maintained. The pace of play was excellent for the weekend. We played 18 holes in 4 hours. This course is truly one of the best values around.
TWICE
Have only played here twice and its a fair track but not as good as the Taylor Meadows. Some condition issues off the fairways . Fairways where a bit shaggy. Greens are in great shape. If not for the reduced Hot Deal Rate I would choose to play elsewhere.
Pristine greens
Golf course is well cared for. Tee boxes are in excellent shape, fairways are beautiful and the greens are pristine. Excellent pace of play. Got to see (actually hear) someone make a hole in one! Great time all around.
Very nice course
We like it as always. Lots of persons working on the course here and there. Maintain greens way with sand. Will be back next month.
What you would expect from an Arthur Hills course.
Really good layout. Use of moguls and mounding create unique shapes, and separate holes that are close together. Marshes also give it character. Fairways and tees were in great shape. Greens were great, but a bit on the slow side. With the reasonable prices, I'll be playing here again.
My new favorite course
After my second round on this course, it is now my NEW favorite.
Lakes of Taylor
Front number nine was down for repairs so we played the back twice. The course , back nine, was in great shape and loved the layout. Greens were much faster than we anticipated. Great value!
Nice November day
Great course for the area. Seems well run and corse seems to be maintained very well. Only downer was didn’t know would only playing back. Front was closed due to cart path construction. Just would have like to know before booking tee time. The cost more than made up for this. Can’t wait to play again.
