About
The public 18-hole layout, formerly known as the Austin Country Club, was designed by renowned architects, J. Press and Perry Maxwell. It served as teaching grounds for Harvey Penick, as well as Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw.
Riverside Golf Course challenges and delights players of all skill levels with its mature trees and scenic water hazards. Its convenient location, five minutes from downtown Austin and 10 minutes from the airport, makes it a serene escape without having to leave the city.
Getting there : From Austin, take IH-35 south to Riverside Drive. Go east on Riverside Drive 2.2 miles to Grove Blvd. and turn left. The course entrance is to the left before the community college.

Fun casual course
Fun casual course . No marshals were out and play was very slow. Beer cart and water were available. I like to play here and will be back .
Meh
First and Only time playing. Tee boxes are in really rough shape. Full of dirt and sand and uneven. Fairway conditions are fine. Easy layout with wide open holes and fairly short overall. What really let this place down were the greens conditions. I don’t think I’ve ever played a course with such horrific greens. Most were covered in large patches of dirt. Uneven rough cut grass so your ball would bounce instead of roll. Incredibly slow rolling.
Best Beginners Course there is
This course is is great, pretty straight except for a few holes, and relatively short. It give plenty of opportunities to build confidence in your game on most holes and then the course throws a few wrinkles at you with some tough holes to challenge your progression. The greens are more than what I could have expected, they roll pretty flat and the pin locations that I’ve seen the last few times I played made it fun and challenging at the same time. So for anyone looking to test themselves or just looking to enjoy a nice and easy day without losing 10 balls, come out to Riverside! Pro shop guy is also nice and makes everyone feel welcome regardless of skill! Good to see people throwing out good vibes at the golf course!
Austin Golf
Easy layout, not too long other than two par threes followed by two par fives into the wind. The greens ran well with some grassless patches on some. Carts were OK and plenty of water stations. Bunkers were soft and sandy.
Very Good Course
Enjoyed the layout and conditions. Greens were very nice except a couple sand areas on a few greens, must be fixing those. People need to fix ball marks, and no sand in bottles on cart to fill divots. Don't know if covid 19 issue or not.
Pace of play very good once we played thru a very slow 3some after hole #3.

Not Enjoyable
Not a well managed or maintained course. It is not in great shape and pace of play is not controlled by anyone except the players on the course.. I play golf for enjoyment and this was not enjoyable.

You Get What you pay for
For $45-$50 not too bad. Tee boxes and greens not in good condition, but not terrible. Most greens have some level of damage or full on sand repair. But a fun layout, hard to lose a ball, pretty short course overall.
I would play it again if I couldn’t find something else.

Course was in great shape, only issue the Tee boxes need to be leveled out, otherwise I enjoyed playing this course today

Surprise
Last time. I played this course was early in 2019, I have not played Golf in over 2 years, My memory back then was dead trées and limbs from the drought. This course must have new management, this course has had a makeover, I will be back. Congrats!

Fair ways
The grass is in bad shape. It’s hard to hit off of along with bad Tee boxes.
Back 9 is a lot better than the front

Sad tee boxes and greens
They just punched and sanded all the greens. Plus just about every green had places under repair. A couple of tee boxes where just sand and a little bit of grass. So overall the course is not in good condiition. Will not go back till next year to evaluate the greens. All greens had placed where there was just no grass and there waws sand only.

Fun
Went golfing with my buddies, had a bunch of fun! There was a bachelor party ahead of us and a few foursomes behind us. Lots of open field to find your ball. Not a lot of water which is nice. Don’t think I lost a single ball. Greens were really nice as well.
