La Cantera Golf Club
About
La Cantera Golf Club opened in 1995, when it also hosted one of the oldest PGA Tour events, the Texas Open. It is no wonder the spot was chosen, with its numerous natural water features, mature oaks, and limestone rock outcroppings it provides the perfect terrain for a challenging round. There are also 75 white sand bunkers strategically placed throughout the golf course. In combination with the spectacular views provided by the course’s elevation changes, the course has quickly gained favor as one of the best public-access golf courses in the country.

Great course on a hot day
Course is really nice. Greens in great shape. The rough is very thick so stay in the fairways. We really enjoyed our time. And the people working there is extremely friendly and welcoming.
Great course
Great course. Enjoyed the layout and the course was in very good condition. Tee times were spaced 20 minutes apart which helped the pace. Golf staff were very mindful of social distancing and disinfection requirements. Overall, very pleased.
Course with Character
This course has tons of character. Even at 6300 yards (gold tees) this course played like a monster because of the rough. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate the difficulty of the rough a 9. Hit the fairways here or plan on shooting a high number. The greens were much slower than expected which was a little disappointing but overall this course was a lot of fun. Opportunities for birdies but equal opportunities to make high numbers. Be sure to enjoy the amazing views this course has to offer!
Resort Golf at its Best
First time to play this scenic golf course. Beautifully designed up and down the Hill Country of Texas. Signature hole overlooking Fiesta Texas is stunning, but so are others.. Bring your ‘A’ game and keep the ball in the fairway. Greens are huge with undulations and levels. Important to play from the right tee box to enjoy the round.. A wonderful golf experience. Can’t wait to play it again.
Best views of San Antonio
Great friendly staff, it was my first time playing this course and it didn’t disappoint. I will definitely book it again.
Amazing
This course never lets me down. I’ve been bring friends and family here for some time now. The course has never failed to amaze them and is always in pristine condition.
Beautiful vistas
Enjoyed the topography.of the golf course. The Texas Hill Golf. Great vistas
Top 5 course I have ever played
This was a really impressive course with amazing views, elevation changes throughout the course, perfect conditions, and an awesome layout with fun shots and risk reward shots. Thanks for the experience and we will be back. Also played hill country Hyatt and it was in terrible shape and doesn’t hold a candle to la cantera.
Other then the fact we played with a group that ruined our round, it was a great golf course. These guys yelled, screamed, cussed and lashed out extremely loud and ugly to the point where we couldn’t enjoy it. I wanted to leave but we paid good money to play there.
Hole in one
This course was amazing. Top five in southern Texas for sure, can’t wait to come back and shoot low. Would definitely recommend to anyone that can really play. La Cantera is also a love place to hold benefits or bring that important client. Have fun guys and girls.
Fantastic Day at La Cantera
The course was in pristine condition, and was empty. We never saw another group the entire round. This is a challenging and rewarding course, with lots of elevation change and natural features. It was definitely worth it for the 42 price offer they were running. Had a blast!
What a fun course!
What a fun course! The design is so great. Fairways were in immaculate condition. The greens were still recovering from being punched and sanded. Will definitely play it again. I want to try the Palmer course next.
Great course
Course was in great shape and greens played very good. Only issue was cart girl availability. We finally got her on the last hole of the round.
Resort fun
More enjoyable of the two La Cantera courses. Not as many blind shots. Greens are tricky. Staff is friendly. Conditions are always good. Always a good choice for a solid round of golf. Enjoy.
Hill Country best
The La Cabrera’s Resort course is one of the hill country’s best. I like this one better than the Palmer. It plays a few shots easier in my opinion. Greens are fast and fun. Being in the right spot is a must to score well. Go play and enjoy.
Firm. Fast. One of the best.
Played on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The greens were firmed up a bit (perfect) and extremely fast. With the slopes, a two putt here is a very good thing. If playing soon, most tees are generally moved up a box, so play back one set. Gold/silver will suffice for most. Try to be cognizant that many greens are multiple tiered. So getting the right tier is of utmost importance if trying to score well. Go play and enjoy, one of the best in San Antonio.
