Seascape Golf Club

About
Originally Rio Del Mar Country Club, Seascape Golf Club is a classic 18-hole layout perched on the coast highlands of the Monterey Peninsula. Opened in 1926, the course was actually shut down during World War II when it served as a “victory garden” to help grow crops for the nation's war effort. After the war it came back with its new name, but old charm. The golf course is just a half mile from the Pacific Ocean, but it's largely protected by Monterey pines and eucalyptus trees that surround it. Seascape Golf Club features well maintained fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small, tricky greens.

Golf with my lovely Bride! Photo submitted by u849946994 on 03/22/2017
GOLFERS BEWARE!!!
Our party checked in for our 1:23pm tee time. Staff asked our name and we told him our last name. Staff said 1:23pm is under a different name and he told us they don't show our name in their system. I told the pro shop staff I made the reservation through Golfnow and I have my confirmation #. He said maybe I booked Seascape Golf Course in North Carolina. I showed him my Reservation info showing their address; APTOS , CA. He said if the 1:23pm party shows up, he can squeeze us in at 1:41pm tee time. We agreed and ended up playing a very SSSLLLOOOWWW round of golf today. GOLFERS BEWARE!
Great Course & Wonderful Area
Have played here a few times over the past couple of years. Always had a great time. All the majestic trees along and sometimes intersecting the fairways, the topography, uphill downhill, wonderful greens, it's all good! Have had a couple of good meals and look forward to returning. Too bad my game doesn't do the course justice, but I will endeavor to persevere! Come and check it out.
Horrible experience If your from out of town stay away
Had a tee time booked and confirmed in the morning from Golfnow at 9:20. It was a beautiful day the course was a little busy as we arrived but we had driven into the area from Oregon and were looking forward to playing here. In the pro shop a line was already forming at the counter as the man behind the counter struggled to handle green fees, phones, range balls and cart assignments. When it was our turn at the counter he informed us he did not have our tee time in the computer from Golfnow. I showed him the paperwork I had and he said the 9:20 tee time was booked by a long time member weeks ago so he didn't know why I had paperwork indicating something different but there was nothing he could do. I asked if he was going to try and fit us in since we had driven over here from Palo Alto to play and he said 11:30 was the best he could do. I was floored , I had paperwork, an email, I have been charged a fee by Golfnow and this employee told me sorry he had others in line he needed to help.
Basically a nice day broke out and Seascape and the pro shop staff decided to screw me over and let its members and regulars play and they sent us packing. Do not play here if you are from out of town. The do not want your money! Spend it elsewhere.
Slooooowwwwwww daaaaaayyyyyyy
The weather was perfect that week. I think that's why everyone decided to play golf. You had to be real patient because no one was letting any group play through. It took 5 hours to finish the round. Funny we met a kid on the back nine sitting on a bench with his sticks hoping to join anyone. We took him in and he showed us some fine golf. The three old guys including myself wished we we had his flexibility. The rough was growing much higher already you have no chance of seeing your ball. Probably why the slow play. Its time to cut the rough down a bit.
waste of money
arrived at golf course and pro shop had no record of our booking, lucky a group did not show up and we were squeezed in...booking fee a complete waste of money.
Great Day
Played in 4 hours, got a hole in one on hole number 8.
Tax Day Golf at Seascape
I’m a 6 handicap golfer and play at Seascape periodically. Reading recent reviews I was a bit apprehensive - due to recent reviews which suggested it was still to wet to play. The rough was US Open tough but the fairways were dry. They were a bit littered with leaves a freshly cut grass. I teed off at 7:00 am so the morning dew made everything superficially wet. The greens were shaggy long and needed cutting. I walked the course and was done in less than 3 hours. Things dried up by halfway through the round. I enjoyed the layout and found the conditions more than acceptable. Thankfully, I ended up in only one bunker. The status of most bunkers was quite poor and should be a priority for management!
