Seascape Golf Club

About
Originally Rio Del Mar Country Club, Seascape Golf Club is a classic 18-hole layout perched on the coast highlands of the Monterey Peninsula. Opened in 1926, the course was actually shut down during World War II when it served as a “victory garden” to help grow crops for the nation's war effort. After the war it came back with its new name, but old charm. The golf course is just a half mile from the Pacific Ocean, but it's largely protected by Monterey pines and eucalyptus trees that surround it. Seascape Golf Club features well maintained fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small, tricky greens.

Golf with my lovely Bride! Photo submitted by u849946994 on 03/22/2017
A lovely course in a lovely setting, staffed by courteous staff - good value, wonderful experience.
Very Very Soggy,
But considering all the rain recently what can you expect. This course doesn't drain particularly well,in fact a few trees had fallen down because of the heavy rain.I will say it was the fastest round to date I have ever played there(4hrs 20 mins)but then again not many people were playing. No cart girl and the grill wasn't really on it either.I called from the 8th hole and ordered when we got there they forgot our order,so I ordered again a burger and fries and they said they would bring it to me,when they brought it ,was a burger and chips?Whatever definitely won't do that again.all in all ok but nothing stood out as wonderful just better then staying home in the house I guess but we were all so muddy afterwards
Don't pay more than $40 for twilight
This was a good course! Enjoyed the ambiance and looking around at the unique houses. Course has character. Not too much trouble to get into. We got a HotDeal for $39 w/ cart at 12:44pm. We were able to finish before sunset 4:45pm (3-some).
They simply overbook this course and allow 5 somes
That is the only reason I can't give this higher marks. In the last 3 times I've played this course the rounds run 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 hrs and I don't see that ever being different unless you play during the week or first thing in the morning which I have not done yet.The course is fun but you simply can't justify waiting 5-10 minutes a shot,it makes for a terrible game and experience. Then of course why do they allow 5-somes with this problem?(I guess there reasoning here is there members and its gonna be slow play anyway)
Sandy greens in a cold autumn morning
Teed off at 730 am was both good and bad. Good because no one was in front of me. Bad because it was coooold. I should have worn winter gloves and carried a portable heater with me. Also today the greens were very sandy so putting was impossible. I could not believe they had 2 tournaments scheduled later that day.
Sanded Greens
The greens were punched a “few weeks ago” the re-sanded this week. The greens were barely playable. No notice on Golf Now and no reduction in green fees. Too many other courses to play in the area that will report conditions and/or discount rate - I will be playing elsewhere.
We had a wonderful round of golf. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this golf club and hope to come back soon.
Avoid Saturdays
We love playing this course - on weekdays.
We learned, the hard way, to avoid playing on a Saturday afternoon. The pace of play was extremely slow! How slow? We watched the 4 groups ahead of us play the par 3 sixth hole before our turn came up. The back nine opened up a little, but we were not able to complete 18 holes. Our 1:48pm tee time allowed us almost 5 hours of daylight to play - not enough for a Saturday afternoon at Seascape. A very frustration afternoon....
Bunkers & hole #3.
I played with 3 members today and they were complaining how terrible the bunkers are. They are all full of water and hard. They even discussed writing a letter and passing it around to the other members to get the course to add sand to the bunkers.
Another topic of discussion was why isn't hole # 3 a par 5? That would make the course a par 72 course. #3 is only 5 yards shorter than #18 a par 5. In doing so it would give the front 9 two par 5's and a total of 4 for the course.
Great
The course is in excellent condition. and please keep the early morning HD tee time.
Another wonderful round
Seascape is a beautiful long course. It's well manicured and a blast to play. Play was a little slower on the back 9 but still fun. Great value for this quality course.
Seascape 4 Oct
Very nice course. Alwayd has been. Great staff and very challenging with special emphasis on very fast greens. Definitely need to stay below the hole!!!
Great course
Super fun course. Caught probably the best weather possible in Aptos at 6:40 am. Course was in great condition. Greens were challenging but straight forward. Good layout. Going to play again soon for sure.
Nice course greens were average speed due to them being moist from the conditions The course is very fair but There are 2 tricky holes
Tuesday Play
Had a great time playing this course. Each hole has its special unique design. Lots of ups and downs. It’s greens are some of the hardest because of the slopes and tiers. 3 puts can become normal unless you are below the hole. Love playing this course.
Course Condition
The course is in excellent condition but it could use a tad less water.
