Gilroy Golf Course
About
It might not have a lot of competition, but Gilroy Golf Course dubs itself as the "Best 11-Hole Golf Course in America." Built by local farmers and businessmen in 1923, this unique 11-hole routing east of Santa Cruz features small greens and wide, tree-lined fairways set along the Uvas Valley that has changed very little since its founding. Though not a full 18, the golf course is still plenty challenging, including the 245-yard par-3 8th hole, a scenic tee shot considered to be the course's signature. Gilroy Golf Course has suitable BBQ and outing facilities for larger groups.

Enjoyable family course
Cleaned up the course a ton from the rainy season. Greens were just recently fixed up and fairways are cut nice. Rough is a little tough to find your balls but overall really fun course to get after!
Not bad but not good either…
Got paired up with another pair because the guys behind us were friends with the guy in the clubhouse. It’s good to know people so you can get special treatment. Groups were stacked up after 3 holes. Overgrown rough ate 2 balls. It was a bit shaggy after the rain from a week before.
Worse Course I've Played
Course conditions were terrible.
There were gopher holes everywhere throughout the course which caused one of persons we were playing with to take a fall. Grass length in the rough was anywhere from 4 to 5 inches long so it was nearly impossible to find your ball unless you were standing directly above it. Hole direction signs are confusing and need to be updated for clearer direction of course layout. The course had poor water runoff and grass was in bad condition despite it being November.
I've played in courses for far less cost and in way better conditions.
Solid beginner course
This is a decent place for people to learn how to play golf. The only issue is that several of the holes are too well guarded by a bunker or overhang hanging tree to block the green with no option for a conservative option.
Lovely people, awful planning
I hate to write this review because I have played here multiple times and the staff are always kind and welcoming. However this time was completely different. We show up for our tee time which is one of the last times that you can play a full 18 without it getting dark, and we get told there is a league today and a 30 minute delay. We had no idea there was a league and we’ve played many Saturday’s without running into this. Some kind of warning would have been nice. Worst of all, some group comes in with their own golf cart and tries cutting the tee time in front of us after we had all waited 35 minutes extra to tee off. We walk to the tee box and that group argues with us saying it’s their turn to tee after we saw them arrive a couple minutes ago. We did not budge and eventually they start giving us attitude. They tried cutting the group after us as well but finally after the group behind us talked to the pro shop they made an announcement of what the order was. Ridiculous management. We did not even finish 18 because the first 9 was so backed up. That rude group have clearly been cutting people many times because not a single worker went up to them and said anything
Decent course for a good price
Course is kept tidy consistently.
Certain holes with have dry greens, even sand, but have been putting in more work in the maintenance as of late.
I live just around the corner from the course so it’s my weekly course, but if it was out my way, I wouldn’t come here to often as there are other considerable courses at the price point.
Bought 18, played 9 and left....
Course condition is terrible. It is a $10-15 course max. I would not play this course again even if it was free.
