About
Avery Ranch Golf Club is a part of the Avery Ranch residential community, 20 minutes northwest of town, that was carved and blasted out of the rocky ranchlands along Brushy Creek. This historically significant area was once home to Indians and robbers, who were drawn to this beautiful setting thick with dense oaks, meandering creeks and abundant wildlife.
The golf course was designed by former Jack Nicklaus designer Andy Raugust, who literally had to use dynamite to blast rock out of the landscape for five holes. His design features two potential signature holes on each nine.
No. 7 doglegs left, and features two scenic carries -- one off the tee and another on the approach. The hole is rather short, providing the chance to be in good position for this most spectacular approach shot on the golf course. Staring at the multi-level green, you’ll notice the huge rock wall fronting the green, the large bunker to the right, and the native cacti to the rear.
Avery Ranch Golf Club's 13th is sure to be considered one of the best par 3s in the Austin area. The 161-yard par 3 features water on the right side, impressive, towering oaks in the back, and a unique ridge of rocks to the right of the green. The reasonable distance makes it a fun challenge, and the hole features a bail out area in case of a miss

Plan on at least 5 hours
The golf course is fun to play and very challenging, however they over pack to course every day. I have played 4 times in the last 1.5 months and ALL 4 times was between 5 and 5 1/2 hours, 3 times was mid week. Driving range is packed with families sharing buckets. I can’t believe they allow walking when it is so busy. It seems Samsung must give a lot of days off and buys memberships! #suckthefunoutofgolf

Awful
Range balls were the worst I’ve Ever seen. Actually saw my first bald golf ball.
Had to wait 30 minutes to get on the range before my round and to hit only about six balls of my $16 large bucket.
I showed up to the first tee exactly on time and the starter was chatting with another golfer for about four minutes before acknowledging me and then telling me that He had sent my party out early and that I could meet them up on the second hole.
Water coolers were empty at the water hose.
Tee boxes large with broken tees
Greens and fairways were pretty chewed up
Pace was really slow.
Just not a well run club - played like a city muni

Average at best
Greens were in decent shape. Small bucket of balls cost 9.5$ (yes, for 25 balls, it was almost 10 dollars). Pace of play was abysmal. On the second hole, there were 5 groups waiting to tee off!! No marshals around and front nine was 3.5 hours to finish. Staff not very friendly, range was full of people, but they had no range balls left. Staff, mostly HS kids were just sitting around, chatting away. For the price they charge, I would expect much better service.

Slow play without Marshals
Club staff is great and very friendly. Pace of play was the biggest challenge. Took us 5 hour and 40 minutes to complete our round.

All tee boxes and greens were just about immaculate for winter conditions. Fairways were fair for winter conditions. Can't expect green fairways in the winter.

Pack Lunch It’s Gonna Be A Long Day
I’m not real sure Avery Ranch GC i’d anything more that a beautiful walk but bring a portable stool. Saw the group ahead hit every single shot from the teebox, every approach, every putt,

Altogether it was a $115 round for the 2 of us, on a lovely day, but FIVE HOURS on a still day? When we got to #10 tee the marshal, came rolling up and STATED, @everyrhings running pretty smooth except there’s a hole open ahead the the group in the fairway. So we literally had 4 groups on 1 hole.and when I objected. “How can play be moving when it’s 6”stopped? Well, 4 groups on 10 tee isn’t ‘moving.. FIVE hours. I won’t be back. EVER.

Worth the trip out there to play!
I've played this track numerous times and love the layout and the challenge. Playing from the tips adds more difficulty but will lead to decision making on club selection. Several tee boxes helps all types of golfers.
