Avery Ranch Golf Club
About
Avery Ranch Golf Club is a part of the Avery Ranch residential community, 20 minutes northwest of town, that was carved and blasted out of the rocky ranchlands along Brushy Creek. This historically significant area was once home to Indians and robbers, who were drawn to this beautiful setting thick with dense oaks, meandering creeks and abundant wildlife.
The golf course was designed by former Jack Nicklaus designer Andy Raugust, who literally had to use dynamite to blast rock out of the landscape for five holes. His design features two potential signature holes on each nine.
No. 7 doglegs left, and features two scenic carries -- one off the tee and another on the approach. The hole is rather short, providing the chance to be in good position for this most spectacular approach shot on the golf course. Staring at the multi-level green, you’ll notice the huge rock wall fronting the green, the large bunker to the right, and the native cacti to the rear.
Avery Ranch Golf Club's 13th is sure to be considered one of the best par 3s in the Austin area. The 161-yard par 3 features water on the right side, impressive, towering oaks in the back, and a unique ridge of rocks to the right of the green. The reasonable distance makes it a fun challenge, and the hole features a bail out area in case of a miss

Great Golf
This is one of Austin's premier public courses, always in very playable condition with really good greens. They have an excellent maintenance crew who keep the course prime. GolfNow has some really good tee times and prices for this course almost every week making it a very manageable financially course to play on a regular basis. One of my most favorite courses to play in Austin.
Great course but slow
We enjoyed the course layout a lot. Some very interesting holes. Course knowledge is a premium. Conditions were dry but nice. Greens held a shot well. The pace seems to be a problem here. We expected it as it was Sunday afternoon. Over 5 hours waiting every shot.
My Favorite Course, so far...
I am new to Austin and have been trying to play as many courses in the area as possible to get a feel for the options. Having played five different courses so far, this is definitely my favorite. There are some challenging holes, elevation changes, and some are just really nice to look at golf holes. Course knowledge is a definite plus. The greens were in good shape, but still a bit slow from the maintenance two weeks prior. there were a few tee boxes that were pretty torn up. One thing that should be on the website regarding course alerts, but is not, is that on Tuesday the range is not open until noon. This is despite having mats. So, if you plan to play on a Tuesday morning and you need to warm up, you're out of luck. You have to go the first tee cold.
Nice course but play was slow and painstaking.
Course is one of the nicer courses in the area but 5hrs pace of play was excruciating. People that think they are “on the tour” and take 4or 5 practice swings on each shot and not understanding the idea of ready golf make playing here difficult. Even bad players can get a round in under 4hrs. I would not recommend playing here on weekends, but hopefully weekdays are better.
My Go-To Course in Austin
I've played a lot of golf in my life and am an 8 index, so my standards for courses are fairly high. This is my go-to public course in Austin. I'm surprised that it isn't rated even higher than most other courses in the area. The course is well laid out with memorable holes that have character. The course condition has always been great, and I'm always finding a great deal on GolfNow (consistently better than the deals for other equally-rated courses in the area). The practice facility is excellent, as is the starter experience. I highly recommend Avery Ranch.
Challenging Course!
Pretty course, always a pleasure to play. Marked weather as "wet" due to wet fairways and bunkers and played cart path only (at least some of us did). Played longer than the yardage said. Pace was right at 4 hours even with cart path only, although it felt like we waited on every fairway. Pretty course - lots of ravines to hit over!
Thank you so much for the 5 Stars! We hope to have you back at Avery Ranch soon!
Slow Play
This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. The "deal" is a deal on Golfnow because the members know not to play on the backend of a tournament. The result is super slow play and I blame it on Avery. They sent off 8 people per group and when we arrived they were teeing people off every 7 minutes. We only ended up playing 9 holes in three (3) hours. We spent more time waiting than playing. We did not see a marshall the entire time on the course.
Skip this one
Very small rain night before, range closed and cart path only. Bunkers had no sand and half full of water. This course should be more the $30 range not the $90 they think it's worth. Pro was a very rude, I won't return and Im a member at Terra that reciprocal with them. No thanks.
Avery Golf
Great day for golf... Course is in good shape. played in 3.25 hours. great pace...
Avery Ranch AAAAA+++++
Can’t say enough about this course. Just smooth. Stay in fairway or your pulling a ball from bag. Long putts made since your don’t have to guess poa annua breaks.
Thank you so much for the 5 Stars! We greatly appreciate all of the positive feedback. Hope you will be back to see us soon!
Great course conditions
Great layout, friendly staff. Faster greens. Occasional encounter with deer makes it more enjoyable.
Thank you so much for the 5 Stars! We appreciate it!!
Great Course. Poor Pace.
The course is in fantastic shape. Tee box to green is lush and smooth. Greens ran quick. We did have rain the day before and the bunkers showed, but it's expected.
The only downside was the pace of play. We teed off at12:54 and finished at 6:30. We waited on every hole, every shot. Seems to be a trend.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review on your experience at Avery Ranch!
One of the best in Austin
I would rate Avery as one of the very top place to play in the whole Austin area. It is challenging without be to hard, and I don't think it is tricked up like some area courses, and by using Golf Now I always get a price that fits my budget. The just got brand new carts that are fast, quite, and have a USB charger!!
Hi Keith,

Great course
Lush green fairways. The greens are very well kept. Will play again soon
Super conditions and Challenging
Course was in super condition in spite of hot days of July/August. Pace of play was right on and Beverage Cart scooted around frequently.
