About
Avery Ranch Golf Club is a part of the Avery Ranch residential community, 20 minutes northwest of town, that was carved and blasted out of the rocky ranchlands along Brushy Creek. This historically significant area was once home to Indians and robbers, who were drawn to this beautiful setting thick with dense oaks, meandering creeks and abundant wildlife.
The golf course was designed by former Jack Nicklaus designer Andy Raugust, who literally had to use dynamite to blast rock out of the landscape for five holes. His design features two potential signature holes on each nine.
No. 7 doglegs left, and features two scenic carries -- one off the tee and another on the approach. The hole is rather short, providing the chance to be in good position for this most spectacular approach shot on the golf course. Staring at the multi-level green, you’ll notice the huge rock wall fronting the green, the large bunker to the right, and the native cacti to the rear.
Avery Ranch Golf Club's 13th is sure to be considered one of the best par 3s in the Austin area. The 161-yard par 3 features water on the right side, impressive, towering oaks in the back, and a unique ridge of rocks to the right of the green. The reasonable distance makes it a fun challenge, and the hole features a bail out area in case of a miss

Golfer Reviews
Challenging Course!
Pretty course, always a pleasure to play. Marked weather as "wet" due to wet fairways and bunkers and played cart path only (at least some of us did). Played longer than the yardage said. Pace was right at 4 hours even with cart path only, although it felt like we waited on every fairway. Pretty course - lots of ravines to hit over!
Slow Play
This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. The "deal" is a deal on Golfnow because the members know not to play on the backend of a tournament. The result is super slow play and I blame it on Avery. They sent off 8 people per group and when we arrived they were teeing people off every 7 minutes. We only ended up playing 9 holes in three (3) hours. We spent more time waiting than playing. We did not see a marshall the entire time on the course.
Skip this one
Very small rain night before, range closed and cart path only. Bunkers had no sand and half full of water. This course should be more the $30 range not the $90 they think it's worth. Pro was a very rude, I won't return and Im a member at Terra that reciprocal with them. No thanks.
Avery Ranch AAAAA+++++
Can’t say enough about this course. Just smooth. Stay in fairway or your pulling a ball from bag. Long putts made since your don’t have to guess poa annua breaks.
Thank you so much for the 5 Stars! We greatly appreciate all of the positive feedback. Hope you will be back to see us soon!
Great course conditions
Great layout, friendly staff. Faster greens. Occasional encounter with deer makes it more enjoyable.
Thank you so much for the 5 Stars! We appreciate it!!
Great Course. Poor Pace.
The course is in fantastic shape. Tee box to green is lush and smooth. Greens ran quick. We did have rain the day before and the bunkers showed, but it's expected.
The only downside was the pace of play. We teed off at12:54 and finished at 6:30. We waited on every hole, every shot. Seems to be a trend.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review on your experience at Avery Ranch!
One of the best in Austin
I would rate Avery as one of the very top place to play in the whole Austin area. It is challenging without be to hard, and I don't think it is tricked up like some area courses, and by using Golf Now I always get a price that fits my budget. The just got brand new carts that are fast, quite, and have a USB charger!!
Hi Keith,

Super conditions and Challenging
Course was in super condition in spite of hot days of July/August. Pace of play was right on and Beverage Cart scooted around frequently.
Solid value
The course is a good value with an excellent layout and solid condition. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to play a public course in the Austin area.
Beautiful Place
Very nice course ,
Friendly Staff ,
I can't wait to play there again .
Good course for the money!
I used GolfNow to book through Avery Ranch. I played in the afternoon and it was half off.
After playing the round, I am not sure if I feel comfortable playing at $80 with the shape that the greens are in. However, playing at $40 is a great deal, so I will probably do that in the future.
Also, they gave me a free drink ticket for the bar when I checked in; I thought that was a great gesture.
Our group saw the cart girl about 3-4 times which is awesome as well. Its a great way for the course to make extra money!
Overall, I will be back!
Terrible at Avery Ranch
Range balls are terrible- old and cut up
Range itself is terrible - muddy with very little grass
Staff is barely courteous
We waited 30 minutes for a golf cart as they didn't have enough and had overbooked tee times
One worker said "This isn't my job" regarding golf carts
Some greens already burned up and not even hot yet.
Pace of Play is a joke and always has been - Avery Ranch "Home of the 5 hour round of golf" and on 06/10/2017 it was 5 hours and 10 minutes. Ridiculous! Never play there again!!
Why I quit both courses they own have horrible pace of play. The owners could care less about you golf experience. I live around the corner from Avery . As hot as it was Sunday I drove to cowan creek 14 miles away to hit balls. That should tell you the extent they have alienated golfers. Their canned response tells it all.
