Grand/Royal at Grand Palms Golf & Country Club
About
Twenty seven championship holes await travelers visiting south Florida's scenic beaches. Grand Palms Golf & Country Club in Pembroke Pines also offers three nines: Royal, Sabal and Grand. All three are famous for having some of the best greens in the area, and the golf courses are played in three separate combos. The Grand/Royal 18, designed by Ward Northrup, comes in at 6,881, most of which is blanketed with palm trees and tropical foliage. The longest and most challenging of the Grand Palms' golf courses, Grand/Royal features some especially memorable water holes. A tight layout with raised greens (perfect for testing your shot-making talents), beware the Grand's bunkers, strategically placed along the greensides.

Really gone downhill needs TLC
I have played this course for 16 years, It used to be beautiful but now everything needs to be refurbished If I was a resident of grand palms and paid to live on a golf course I would be outraged
Never again
I honestly remember the first time playing here being enjoyable but then I remembered that I didn’t remember playing there. My second round was not enjoyable. Trash greens trash fairways slow play. On top of all that there was a foreign object in the drink I ordered and the bartender told me to man up and that I wouldn’t die.
terrible staff and course conditions
what an awful experience this place is. Booked a 8:25a tee time as a single, showed up around 8a and the starter said he sent the group I was supposed to play with out early. Said I wouldn’t be able to go out at my tee time since I was a single and would have to wait until I could join a group which was over an hour from the original tee time I booked. Sergio the starter got angry and yelled at me when I asked to go off as a single at my original tee time. Then the other cart guy started to get angry and yelled at me when I asked why he sent the group off early without me even though I showed up to my tee time early.
This isn’t the first time the starter Sergio has had a temper and yelled at golfers. He previously wouldn’t give us the keys to our cart and yelled at us for trying to get the keys to our cart 5 minutes before our tee time. This guy is on a power trip who thinks he’s the man.
Besides the awful staff, the course conditions are terrible. Definitely not worth your money.
If you’re looking to get verbally abused by the staff and play a course that’s in terrible condition, then this is the course for you. I will never play this course again.
PAY in advance.
Called for a tee time rather than booking online or on GolfNow (my mistake, wanted to avoid fees). Both GN and the Grand Palms website said $49 for a tee time after 1:00.
Get to the front desk and the starter says $69 a piece. I said “I thought it was $49?” He says: “the price changes based on the weather, or time of day, or season and right now it’s $69. Maybe GolfNow is running a promotion.”
I told him that both their website and GolfNow have the price listed at $49.
He then says “If you’re gonna come before 3:00, you should pay online. If after 3, come see me.” I asked how I would’ve known that - he says “knowing is half the battle.”
Then proceeded to charge me $69, for a round clearly listed at $49 in multiple spots. If I wasn’t golfing for the first time with a new group, I wouldn’t have payed or played. Needless to say, I won’t be back.
What a disgusting process at the front. Also, the bathrooms throughout the course are disgusting. Sinks don’t work, toilets don’t flush, no soap in the dispensers. Maybe take that extra $20 you’re squeezing out of people and clean the bathrooms?
Needless to say, will never be back.
Cheap Round
Played this before. Three 9's, so usually not crowded (no one behind or in front until the last 4 holes, when a foursome cut in from another 9 - cut in two holes ahead so we couldn't stop them in time - and held things up quite a bit). The greens are fairly good, the rest of the course needs work. Cheap and you get what you pay for.
Nice Round
As usual the staff members were nice and helpful. I played the Grand first some of the greens were fair not as good as in the past. I played the Royal for the back 9, the entire course was in good condition not over played like the Grand.
Happy accident
I had never heard of or played this course before now. I knew really nothing about its history layout or condition. Having said that, I had a great time. I got to course about 45 mins before my tee time. Staff was very friendly and asked my preference, go out early or wait. Not often the choice is left to the player. Very refreshing. Well as I am prone to do... I go right to the first tee. Starter and cart staff was very helpful. Since there are three nine hole courses. I was sent off and never looked back. Pace of play was great. Never really had to wait. At the turn, I grabbed a drink and staff was friendly. All in all course was in good condition. As with 90% of the courses in South Florida this time of year it did show some wear from all the snowbirds and spring breakers. But very playable nonetheless. If I had one complaint it would be.... better yardage markers and cart path markers leading to holes. But hey that's minor
Course is better than expected, facilities need TLC
I hadn't played this course in more than 5 years because it had been in disarray. I had a chance to go out and was very pleasantly surprised at the course conditions. Overall, the course is in above average condition (considering it's a public course) with the tee boxes, fairways, and greens all in pretty good shape. The staff were also very friendly.
My one gripe is that the facility itself is in disrepair and falling apart. This place could be a gem in Southwest Broward but it is badly in need of a big money investor to knock the hotel, restaurant, and pro-shop down, build a solid facility, and take care of the the areas surrounding each hole.
Still, it's a fun course in pretty good shape. Its reputation of being in poor shape precedes it which is why it's so easy to get on for a quick 18 and enjoy a good challenge.
Nice play to play a round
Most greens are pretty good but there are a couple that need maintenance. Divots. Too many. Still had a nice time playing
Good course.
Tee box and greens are in excellent condition. Fairways are very good. Lots of water but very playable. We will play again. I recommend the course completely.
Average course
Course was correct, pace of play is good , starter was stressed, not the most smily person that i have ever see in my life , l’m not sure that he loves his job so much …. But maybe a difficult day for him …i hope
Great course for the price
It was well worth the price and staff were much more friendly than most courses. Greens were great as well!
Great course
Played Sabal and Royal. Both were challenging with high winds that day. Wind and water are not a good combo for scoring in golf. The Sabal course seems more narrow as it wound through houses. Overall a great deal for the money. I paid $30 for an after 3pm tee time and they let us start early.
