About
Designed by Steve Smyers, Cheval Golf and Athletic Club's (previously known as Cheval Country Club) mature and meticulously maintained course meanders through 860 acres of elegantly designed development property. Cypress trees abound on this course along with native Florida wildlife including deer, alligators, otters, eagles, wading birds and more. Cheval is one of the area's most prestigious semi-private clubs and offers 18 holes of championship golf. Precise shot placement is required to avoid the 108 bunkers and water hazards that lurk on every hole. A large practice facility includes target greens, distance markings, a practice greens-side bunker, a practice fairway bunker, large putting green and separate pitching green.

Unusual times but the round was therapeutic!
Nice course...nice weather and a very enjoyable round in spite of the restrictions.

Great course layout. Many holes you will surely remember. Staff was very engaging. With no rain in months, the courses are truly challenged indeed. Cheval is not far off. Please stay afloat during these tough times that the USA is having. If you enjoy nature.Cheval is the place to go.
I love this course
Cheval has always been one of the premier courses in Tampa and I take every opportunity I can to play there. The greens rolled true. Overall the course was in great condition. The staff was helpful and friendly. Can't wait to play there again.
Not worth the $$ better values close by
Having played Cheval last week arrived home to Ct & played gold this past weekend. Coming out of a mild winter our courses here are in much better shape. Greens at Cheval need work . Fairways need fertilizer. Disappointed in the overall condition!!

Good course but greens are in tough shape
I realized its early in the season but holes or dead spots make the greens tough to putt. Pace was great for afternoon play and we had a few challenging holes.
Wow
After a bad experience in the summer of 2018, I decided to give a second chance and it was an excellent decision. The course was in perfect condition, it is a golf course with beautiful challenges, the playing time was exceptionally slow. My bad experience corresponds to the time of the rainy season. At this time of year, I highly recommend this course, I am a handicap 4. From the back tee off is a good game test! We will be back at Easter!
Good design
A great design, something different happening on every hole. In really good shape, too, especially for this time of year.
Greens
Thoroughly enjoyed my game but the greens and fairways have a lot of area that have weather damage.
Too early
Course will probably be better in April. Greens true but ugly, fairways thin. Was worth$25 today...unlike their course ratings at $70. I don’t think I will play there again. Shot +6. Leave the driver in the bag except for 2 holes.
Liked 10 and 18 holes....

Expectations
Heard and read lot about this course, so decided to try it,. The greens had many damaged spots. Some tees were also not to standards.
Layout is very good. My favorite hole is # 18
Cart was programmed to give you directions to next hole . Very helpful.
So did not meet my expectations.
