Cheval Golf and Athletic Club

About
Designed by Steve Smyers, Cheval Golf and Athletic Club's (previously known as Cheval Country Club) mature and meticulously maintained course meanders through 860 acres of elegantly designed development property. Cypress trees abound on this course along with native Florida wildlife including deer, alligators, otters, eagles, wading birds and more. Cheval is one of the area's most prestigious semi-private clubs and offers 18 holes of championship golf. Precise shot placement is required to avoid the 108 bunkers and water hazards that lurk on every hole. A large practice facility includes target greens, distance markings, a practice greens-side bunker, a practice fairway bunker, large putting green and separate pitching green.

Fantastic Staff
The staff here were some of the best I’ve seen. Greeted you at your car and even wiped down your clubs after the round. The course was in fair shape but the design is great, very challenging.
The whole course was excellent.
The course was in great shape. The greens were full and holding approach shots. The fairways were green and almost every shot was off of grass. it was a pleasure to play. Would recommend the course to anyone.
A nice neighborhood course
I played this course several times last year and tried it again this week. The course is in fairly good conditions with a few rough spots. The new 17th hole is open and playable. The pace of play was right at 4 hours. Ill be back
stunning
my Son and I play golf every year in Tampa bay area This was our 1 st time playing here we were blown away how nice and beautiful the course was its by far the nicest course we played EVER we have play over 100 courses from NY to Ca this was the best from pro shop to Cart girl Unreal service if I could give it a 10 star I would do yourself a favor give it a try We were the 1 st non members to play the Awesome new 17 th hole Were both scratch golfers this place is One of kind was nice to finally beat my son by 1 stroke
Nice course, beautiful day
Third time playing this course One of the better value courses in the Tampa area, in my opinion. Today was the last day for the temporary 17th hole. New & improved 17th hole opens tomorrow to the public. Access to the was provided to members only today.
Cheval
Excellent course. 17th hole is temporary but regular 17th should open next week.
Nice course
Cheval is a nice course with a lot of water. Many of the holes are challenging and the greens are not overly fast but consistent. For $50 it is worth the trip. It happens to be right next to TPC Tampa which is also great course. I will schedule again.
I’ll Pass
Had all the makings for a great round of golf, but water in play on every hole and terrible course conditions made for a frustrating round. We were sandwiched between a slow twosome in front who were hitting multiple tee shots each, and a single behind who kept hitting drives into us. Won’t be back.
Great Golf Experience
Very friendly staff all around nice facilities! Amazing course! Will definitely play again! Love it!
Nice Course Great Value
During our 9 day stay in Tampa, we played this course twice. Very positive experience with the friendly staff and quality of the golf course for the price. Nice layout with many scenic and challenging holes. A few greens had some minor kill areas, but overall they were in good shape and rolled nicely. Homes do not infringe on the course and there are lots of natural areas.
Great Afternoon.....Improvised Green and Tee Box on 17
Played Cheval today for $41 using golfnow. Upon arrival I learned they had no range balls available to warm up and the balls, if available, were $7 additional. The practice green and several others have damage from a fungus although you can putt on The surfaces. The pace of play was 4 hours amd 20 minutes. All in all the course was in good shape except they are still using a make-shift green and improvised tee box for 17. (Price ahould be lower with improvised green/tee box) The club touted the GPS system however cart #42 took several holes to function properly.
With the improvised hole for 17 and condition $41 is the max I would pay and balls should be available and included in the green fee until hole 17 is fully operational.
So, to become a member at Cheval they charge $250-$270 per month plus a $34 cart fee per round.......so at $41 per round ( possibly cheaper if tou dont mind playing later in the day) on golfnow why join unless you and the family play golf, tennis, workout, and dont have a pool at home.
Cheval golf
Course has a few poor spots on a couple of greens, but most very good. Temp hole on 17 is not good. Staff and pace of play are great. Layout is a good challenge every time.
Good place to play.
Wait until next year!
Was a perfect day until we got to the greens on 15 & 16 which had alot of bare areas. Then 17 which had mats to tee from 90 or 125. They are constructing new 17 across the road. These facts should have been told to us at the start of the round!
