Not a Fair Test
We played this course 2 years ago, and were underwhelmed, but the greens, at least, are in better shape. The place is ok, but like many of these public courses that were built inside a housing development, somebody decided to pull as much cash out while putting as little as possible in. Fairways are spotty, and the entire course is sandy. Forgot wedge play. Every shot is a sand shot. OK, ok, that's mid-Florida golf. A design issue that frustrates is the canals and ditches that line the fairways. If they weren't there, the place would be a swamp, but the fairways are banked to roll you into them, and the ball is lost. The clubhouse is sad, and the shop poorly equipped.

Probably too demanding for the average golfer
Challenging layout, lots of water (unintentionally so in some spots due to the 2” of rain the previous day), thick undergrowth lining many of the fairways that didn’t have residential properties encroaching. Par threes were particularly good. Bunkers appear to be undergoing remediation - some appear well-tended with new sand, some have deteriorated beyond playability. Greens were a little bumpy but OK for speed and character,.
Overall, like many of the courses in the area, this is another course that has fallen into disrepair and will probably suffer the same fate as Riverbend and Tomoka Oaks.

Beautiful
Beautiful course. Nice condition for winter. A lot of water and traps. Bring many balls. If I could have got it on a hot deal it would have been perfect

Unrealized potential
Cypress Knoll is in better shape than some of the other public courses around Palm Coast, but it's seen better days. Improvements to the greens since a few years ago are great, but they had better keep at it or they will lose it. Tee boxes can be a bit rough. Some bunkers have soft raked sand and some don't. Some places have way too much sand in places they shouldn't. There were 2 ½ guys in front of us vaping and playing music and sharing clubs. They tool forever, but at least they played from the up tees. The staff is friendly enough - what staff was evident. The clubhouse closed early.

Pleasant Surprise
Challenging Gary Player layout with tight fairways, natural water hazards throughout, and many well-placed bunkers (most of which actually have rakes, even though post-pandemic golfers apparently need to be reeducated on how to use them). This is a really fun track and a great value, in my opinion. Will definitely play this course again.
