Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Great desert golf
I played the south course..,literally by myself out there because it was 104 degrees.
For October while most courses were
closed for reseeding.,this course was awesome for the price. I will try the north course next time.
Staff Member was Rude
Overall this was a nice course. However, when we tried to GPS it using the 'Map It' link on the Golf Now email, it took us to the wrong place. Clicking on the course's actual address (right beside the 'map it' link) it mapped us correctly.
When we arrived, I mentioned it to the fellow working the desk and tried to show him my phone so he understood the issue and he barked at me saying "Don't show me that!". He was very rude the rest of our time there. I don't feel I was confrontational with him. It left us with a bad taste and we won't go back because of this.
Good Value
It was a very hot day on the South course and there isn't much shade to hide so it feels hotter. Lots and lots of bunkers and lots of lots of lost golfers due to the lack of signage to keep you on course. Many groups were behind and skipping holes due to broken or lack of signage. Pace of play was pretty slow, we waited 3+ minutes on every hole and due to the heat and no shade, it definitely felt longer. The greens were extremely slow but due to the heat early in the year, I would imagine they are trying to save the greens all together. Great layout and could be great, just need some closer attention paid.
Zero rating if possible
From the moment you enter the parking lot you should know to leave. There is minimal signage to direct where to go, where to leave your clubs and finally where the pro shop is located. The pace of play was horrible with three foursomes in holes. The ranger was terrible and only wanted to speak of where the imaginary no cart area is! Every course has signage where carts are not allowed but this one! The total lack of maintenance it was disgusting. No ice at water stations. Total lack of quality and they could care less. The drink cart person was awesome and the starter was good.
Not going back
Poor course conditions. Golfed in 95 degree heat, no ice in machines or at turn. Sprinklers were on in a couple places
Very Hot
Disappointed that in the extreme heat the water and ice stations were not operating fully and only seen beverage cart once
Average
Greens and tee boxes were fine, but rest of course was badly neglected.
Terra Lago South Course Review
Over all fairways and greens were good
Driving Range and related facilities were in disrepair but functionally
Staff were friendly and helpful
Not worth the money
Apparently the North course is magic !!! This south course is poor in condition and needs a lot of work …. The sand in the sand traps was the worst we have ever played in …. Like hitting a ball off pavement
The greens were slow and inconsistent
South still needs help - north is playing nicely
You can tell the owners are putting money into the course but this side has a ways to go. Pretty dry and baked out.
Friendly starter and cart girl.
Suggest 17 be cleaned up between the forward tees and the green. The bushes are so high you can’t see the gree.
Lots of fun, despite the gale force wind
It was a super windy day (30+ mph winds) which made scoring a challenge, but the course has so much variety and challenge it was still a very fun day. Greens are fast and smooth, and fairways were in good shape.
Would play it again
Played early on a Saturday morning as a threesome. Course was a little wet due to heavy rains earlier in the week. Overall the fairways, tees, and greens were in excellent condition. Some of the non over seeded areas were in low areas which made them softer than normal. Bunker sand was a little inconsistent. Good layout, front nine was a little tougher than the back. Nice mix of tee box options and they used train containers as bridges which was pretty cool. Large practice facility where you could work on all aspects of your game. Would definitely play here again and it was worth the money.
