Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course

About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Terra Lago South
South course in ok condition, some rough spots for 2/24/25. Water and Ice stations not working except at main clubhouse area. Saw the cart girl once. Staff somewhat friendly.
Good value for the money
I played the course a couple years ago and the conditions seemed a bit better today. The greens and fairways were in great condition and the staff are very nice, (which is typical of Palm Springs).
The course is good value. I haven't played the other Tera Lago North course but I hear its even better.
Great course
The layout and conditions of the course was great. Very friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely play again and highly recommend. As good as North course.
SLOW…
The slow pace of play sure gave us an opportunity to look at the course. Several of the bunkers were in sad shape. The fairways were decent but the rough was pretty bad. I understand it’s that time of year when the ruff goes dormant but it’s worse than my home course in AZ.
We saw one Marshall on hole 2 and never again. We played the front 9 in 3 hours and once we passed the group in front, we played the back nine in 1 hour 30 minutes. One would think a Marshall would have come out and checked sine there was at least two, maybe three groups that jumped the slow group.
Maybe the North course is nicer, not sure. But I have no desire to play the south course again.
Terrible
Customer service is non existant. Rude and belligerent. Unbelievable!
Avoid the sand and fill up with plenty of water
Started at the driving range and putting green which were jammed. Apparently a South Korean golf camp is hosted here? Some phenomenal young golfers on the range though! But it was hard to find a slot to allow us to warm up.
As for the course, fairways, tee boxes and greens were in good shape but the sand traps were awful. Avoid at all costs!! Some we were not sure if they were meant to be a sand trap or is it some “desert trap” - half sand, half hard pack with some brush growing here and there?
There is drinking water and ice available where you pick up carts but there was no drinking water on the course that we found and no food/drink cart service, at least when we played. So fill up a few cups before you start! We also could not find any halfway house for any food/munchies.
Convenient, good price, poor condition
We were staying at the Worldmark property next door so this was very convenient location. The course was ok to poor condition. The layout seems to have been shoehorned into the location. Comfort stations were in poor condition. Greens were ok. The north course is much better. The staff in the clubhouse are were not helpful or friendly. Borderline rude. As if we were bothering them by being there. Not a great way to start a round. Find a different job if you don’t like customer service.
Nothing special
staff was very pre occupied and not helpful with telling us about the driving range, the cart policies and the starter had no idea what time it was...... the couple they paired us with tee'd off before our scheduled time we waited until our time thinking their was a group in front of us only to find out they waited for us on #2. They were members and very unfriendly. Would rather have played as a 2 some. needless to say we wont be back next year. With all the options in the Desert this course is a HUGE disappointment, all around.
Desert Storm
This is the 3rd time that I have played the south course. The greens were not consistent in speed. It looked like they were having some problems with their greens. The fairways were a bit spares as well, had to move the ball a bit to find some good grass. I don't know what they are doing in the desert as it is all dug up and this has gotten rid of some of the shrubbery along the fairways. Not sure what this is about. It is ok to play if you get a cheap green fee.
Horrible customer service
Bags were left unattended for too long, pro shop attendant was rude and grouchy, had to carry the bags up to the car as there were no bag valet attendants around at the end of the round. The pro shop should have warned us that there was not a beverage cart on the course and that the snack shack was closed. The course does not allow outside food or beverages. Disaster to say the least!
Needs a lot of TLC
In the past it was a nice golf course and certainly has had its ups and downs over the years. It is in dire need of some TLC, fortunately the fairways and greens were in pretty good shape. Every area that surrounded the fairways and greens (rough, bunkers etc.) was in horrible condition.
Terra Lago
Overall enjoyed the course and its layout
Not an easy course but just the right challenges
Cart had no GPS
No cart girl for snacks and beverages
Golf in the Badlands
Our first time at Terra Lago South. Staff was friendly. Had a cart shortage on this day; they shuttled us to driving range, which was nice, and picked us up later before our tee time. Was about 15 minutes late on our tee due to waiting on a cart. The area around the course looks like the Badlands of South Dakota, but the course itself was very green and well maintained. Nice variety of holes. Unfortunately our cart was losing power but a young man working the course passed by and we switched carts. Staff and course a five star, but not having enough carts loses one star. Would play again for sure.
Staff Friendliness
Arrived at the Pro Shop to check in. Golf staff sitting behind the counter failed to acknowledge our presence. Eventually I advised checking in for our tee-time. Was abruptly advised the course was closed for a tournament. I provided the confirmation as well as an e-mail from the club 1 day prior confirm the tee time and availability of rental clubs. Staff were disinterested, uncivil and discourteous offering no assistance or information.
OUT OF LUCK !
I made a reservation for Terra Lago to play on FEB 1st 2025 prepaid. We drove from San Diego to Indio,Ca to be told at the golf course that we CANT PLAY,because they have a tournament that DAY! Plus they were very RUDE about it ! LONG WAYS to drive to be told you do not get to play GOLF !
