Course is in good but not great shape - pace of play was good
Fairways are getting bare and some bad spots - not a big deal to move the ball a little to hit from grass
Greens were excellent and tee boxes very good
pace of play was good!
Very good value for an early Sunday morning round
Down hill
I played this course a month ago and it was much better than it was today the fairways are going quickly big bare spots are very dry rough is out-of-control the greens are still pretty good.
Fairways Patchy and Greens are good
Greens were in good shape. Players need to fix ball marks. Fairways are patchy, use winter rules. There were So many weeds and dirt mounds from animals burrowing just barely off the fairway, to where you can’t find the ball if someone doesn’t watch it for you.
Golf or Water Polo at General Old?
For the most part, all was good, nice staff, course was in good shape, greens were fine. But having the sprinklers on for the entire round was inexcusable.
On several occasions, our drives (of various lengths) landed in the midst of the sprinklers! In addition, on one tee box, we had to hit from beyond the blue tees because the sprinkler would be soaking us. Even one of the greens was getting flooded.
Overall good fun course, but we paid our fees to play a round of golf, not water pilo!
Beer drinking
The group in front of us were drinking so much that they couldn’t hit the ball after the tenth hole
JD
I play this course on a regularly basis and always enjoy my round. One thing though my last time out; the fairways are really drying out due to unseasonal hot weather. Be prepared for tight lies. The green were all in great shape.
Green
Course was in unusually good condition probably due to COVID-19 shutdown Cups utilized a metal cup triangle to holed the flagstick, and it was the best I’ve seen. Worth playing just to see that.
Cart paths are dirt and therefore very dusty. My white golf bag was tan when I finished. Use a dark bag.
Plan on playing there again.
good old course
all good. course is a bit bumpy, but it is pretty big , everything else was great.
Value City
Best course I've ever played for the price. Yes the rough was very thick and hard to find your ball but there was no one behind so had time to look. Also very quiet. Bit of a drive for me but was well worth it
Good luck finding your ball
If you have no problems hitting the fairways every time then you won’t be disappointed with the current fairway and green conditions because they are as good as general old gets. But if you tend to perhaps roll into the first cut occasionally then your round here is just going to be one of frustration and penalty drops because you won’t be finding many of your balls. There is no first cut. It goes from fairway to basically out of bounds type grass which is ridiculous. Literally smoked some drives that crept a foot into what should’ve been the first cut only to either not find it or after looking forever see it way down with an impossible second shot. Or hitting the ball in the rough green-side on a par 3 having to make a drop. They had weeks to keep the course in great shape without golfers on it. Golfers will be much more happy if they can find their balls and speed the pace up by not wandering in the forest on every hole.
Conditions Were the Best Ever Played!!!
The course has been closed for about 1 month due to COVID 19. The fairways and greens were so PLUSH.
The fairways were the best I have ever seen them.
We had a 6 am time and were done in under 3 hours.
The guys they paired us with were very slow so we left them behind. We will be back soon to take advantage of great conditions.
Not bad for the money
I drove to this course in Riverside County from San Diego because San Diego courses are still closed due to COVID 19. This is a very ordinary course, but it was well maintained and the greens were in good shape. For the money, it was certainly worth playing one time.
