General Old Golf Course

We've been to General Old when it was browned out and not in great shape, this round you could tell that the greenskepper was doing his job. Course was in good shape, greens were in nice shape as well. Well worth the 23 bucks

Driving range, chipping green, and two putting greens were in good condition and offered a great pre-round workout.

Teed off at noon and finished before four. Good pace of play, probably because it was a week day. Played from the ‘white’ tees at 6400 yards. Ample length for me. There was a longer set of tees and two shorter sets to accommodate all skill levels.

Tee boxes and fairways were in good condition, greens are poa anna and therefore were bouncy and bumpy. Decent speed probably 10 stimpmeter.

Pro shop very friendly and helpful. Snack bar excellent. Will return again.

Very good course. Tee boxes were good. Fairways were nice and green. The greens themselves were in great shape. Nice driving range. Good clothing prices in pro shop. Only negative was the restaurant was closed by 1700.

The fairways were patchy. if you were slightly out of the fairway, you might be in rough or maybe vast areas of dirt. The pace was slow. We were behind a slow fivesome. They were behind a slower single. No logic in the scheduling. Back nine took better than 3 hrs..

The condition of the course was pretty good. It was windy and perhaps that contributed to the slow pace of play. The slow pace seems to be a regular occurrence, I’ve golfed here before and the pace is pretty slow.

No fault of course but check weather forecasts for what winds will be. It was howling. Course staff very friendly and course in fair shape for winter conditions. Rate paid with hot dig and soda is a good value. Nice practice facility.

Greens excellent. Fairways dry in parts, but still good. Overall course was in great shape and pace was excellent. Great value for the price. Would be better if clubhouse remained opened a bit longer in the day. Started round at 1215 and found it closed by the time we finished.

The only problem i have is they let 5 or 6 people play in a group,which slows play.Other than that the course is fine with friendly people behind the desk.

The greens were in very good shape rolled fast and were very consistent. The fairways were a little spotty in places but that’s not unusual for this time of year and the lack of rain coupled with unusually warm weather.

Bunkers had plenty of sand but luckily I wasn’t in any so can’t rate the playability.

Only complaint was that there was a slow foursome with 3 twosomes behind and they didn’t let anyone play through.

The greens were slow for me but in great shape otherwise. Some of the fairways were patchy but I was impressed overall. The blues were an actual difference from the whites, which was nice. Most holes had a 30 yard difference and 18 was a 100 yds more so it was cool to have a choice that mattered.

Course was due to close, but now has new owner. New club house, and the course is cleaning up.

General old is a course that allows you to come out and play your game...whether your out to have fun (beginner or non competitive)or your all about your handicap and perfecting your game, general old allows you to work on your game in all areas that need a tune up. Very open and forgiving, greens always in great shape, stay in fairways to take advantage of easy lay out or practice your stingers from under the trees on both side of fairways! Overall great course for fun and practice....build that confidence up
