General Old Golf Course

I arrived for my tee time 25 minutes ahead of time as a single player. the golf pro who I paid said he would call me in about ten minutes.

he than told me tom join a threesome group on the tee box area. the threesome was part of a scheduled skins game. they said I was not part of there group. I went inside to the golf pro and he told me to go play with a threesome on the tee box. He can outside and said I was suppose to play with the threesome that was part of a scheduled skins game. I told him again that they said I was not part of there group. He ejected me from the course without even apologizing for his behavior. I would not recommend this course to anybody in there right mind as long as he is an employee of the course. His only concern was making money, very tacky.

First time playing this gem of the old military base courses. Lot of fun. Definitely worth playing.

first time on this course, it was good for us .pace of play was light, staff was good, course condition was great . greens really good. over all guess what?..... it was good.

With all the rain the course is very green right now and well maintained.

I used to work at March AFB and whenever I had an opportunity I would play with my boss and friends. This by far one of my favorite courses as it usually has military retirees. The course is a bit challenging as the fairways are narrow. Hole #1 presents both a challenge or easy hole to par or birdie (Par 5 slight dog leg left). The staff are very nice. The bar has good selection of beer, which includes local brews. I live in San Diego, but whenever I am in town and I have the time I try to squeeze in a round. Keep up the good work!

Teeing off thought the course was layed out well, landing areas we forgiving, as well as rick rewards. Great Greens, about every third or 4th holes was a cold water bottle to w/cups to drink from. No water in the dried up lakes, guess been like that for 3 years, still red staked. Trap's were raked and good sand. Fairway, I'd say was the weak part of the course better than most I've played this time of year. Around the greens A+ Good deal for the price. I didn't get to go into the snack bar so I can't tell about the food there was a phone to call in your orders on the 8th hole I think it was on? Pro Shope was up to date and staff was nice. I booked online was running late and they said no problem.

Played this course for the first time while my home course was being overseeded! It was a bit long for me but still enjoyed the course layout, pace of play for a weekend, and conditions of the course. My husband and a friend also played and agreed that this course was a good choice. In fact, we liked it so well we will play it again next weekend and bring another friend too!!

This course is in the best condition of most courses in the area. Great track, I love this course.

It was eye opening to go to the dining area and see several heavily decorated and uniformed military personnel in the room looking elegant and serious and it was a contrast for me to be in shorts and a baseball cap and I felt inadequate and self conscious among these men and, this course being adjacent to the national cemetery I knew that they were either going or coming from a burial service and it put the day in a proper context. General Old GC is more than just golf. The course is muscular and manly and a great test with good conditions and excellent practice areas. While you play you hear the staccato sounds coming from the gun range and there were flyovers by planes from March AFB and it was all thrilling but then every now and then you heard a different set of gun shots that were more rhythmic and it was unmistakable that these were salutes during a service. Golf has a certain spirituality for some including me and adding these other elements was surreal and I hope that in the few rounds remaining for this course as it ends its long history, players will take in more than just the golf game. Sometimes it's bigger than that and here next to those grounds where men and women rest forever after giving everything for us, take a moment and reflect. It could be a very profound round of golf.

Great course layout with some challenging holes and some fairly easy holes. The staff in the clubhouse were very helpful and nice (just wish their beer was a little colder ). Overall a great course for me and my son to play at.

I love this course. There is much about this course for an occasional golfer to love. Wide fairways, not a lot of water, really well maintained sand traps, and much more. I've been teaching my wife the game and this is the first 18 hole course I'll take her to. There are courses closer to home, but I'll drive the extra miles to come here. For those who are current or former military, the course is a former base course and is located next to the Riverside National Cemetery and near March AFB. It is always inspirational to hear the 21 gun salutes for those who served and then see the planes taking off flown by those who serve.

greens and fairways are great.alot of dirt lies off the fairways,but you're not suppose to be out there anyway.bunkers can use some more sand,but a good course overall.

When I booked our tee time I wasn't sure what to expect. $31 for 18 in Riverside. It turned out that the course was in great condition, for anytime of the year, but especially in August. The greens were all in great shape. Then the best part, we played in under four hours, and never had to wait, nor did we ever see any group behind us. All in all this was a great experience and I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a good value on a very well maintained course. The jets taking off from the nearby air base were way cool too. Highly recommended!!!

Great day of golf. Course well kept. Pace fairly good. Staff friendly and efficient. Bunker sand was somewhat hard packed.

Good round of golf with the family. Afternoon tee time. Kind of on the hot side but playable. Most fairways are really nice. Green are nicely kept up. Another plus!

This course is always in great shape! Greens are amongst the best in the I.E. Pretty good practice area, and very helpful staff!

Just want to say the course remains in good shape and even on a Saturday afternoon the pace of play was OK. The greens are great, for Poana. Good place to play in the wind.
