Nestled in the heart of California Gold Country, La Contenta Golf Course wanders through the foothills of the Sierras. Being surrounded by beautiful mountains, the course feels peacefully secluded and enjoys stunning views, yet it is conveniently just a short drive from Sacramento and the San Joaquin Valley. The layout sprawls across a diverse terrain that ranges from lush valleys to grassy meadows. With the up-and-down of the golf course, accuracy is a necessity, especially with large water features coming into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. One particularly memorable hole is the par-3 13th. This scenic hole tumbles down from a dramatic elevated tee. La Contenta Golf Course has been one of northern California's most popular public courses for more than three decades.

Delightful track
I always enjoy playing this course. It’s not like most of the golf courses locally. It is definitely a fun course.
Conditions of the course
The house used to be our favorite course couple of years ago. But unfortunately they didn't keep it up. Their greens are in terrible shape with mus and dirt with no grass on the greens. Good luck management and hope you can bring it back up.
Merced player
A few of the greens are badly fungus and dead but the course is overall in good condition except for some spots where the sprinklers are broken or under repair .
Really Nice Staff
The staff was very friendly and helpful while the other golfers were kind of jerks. Busy day, lots of people out and the group behind us made us feel rushed. Course was in overall good condition but if you have never played here it is challenging because you dont know where you can miss and such.
Greens
A lot of the greens have grass fungus and has dead patches. The Tee box’s haven’t been moved for awhile and lots of divots in the tee box’s. Also wasn’t happy you pay on the app and then they charge you again $15 for each person on your cart. Makes it no savings to pay on the app. It was a slow pace and people trying to push you. But come on there were two foursomes in front of us that we were waiting on. No marshals to be seen to help people along. Yes could have been cause of Father’s Day but 18 shouldn’t take 5.5 almost 6 hours.
Poorest condition of any course around
Greens had many burned out and chewed up spots. Sand traps were muddy and unraked. Asphalt cart paths are woefully maintained and crumbling. This is spring time where everything should be growing well yet this course was in terrible condition. I liked the layout and for a short course, found it challenging.
Love the hills
Couple greens need work, other than that it’s excellent course, very difficult in my opinion though.
Hidden Gem.
We had never heard of Valley Springs but decided to take an hour drive out to La Contenta. Great decision, the course conditions nearly perfect. A couple of greens needed some patch repair but they kept the pins away from those spots. Good food (ordered food by phone at the turn). We'll be back!
Great day
Course is always good ! Just some of the greens need work, few severe greens with huge spots of unplayable areas (no grass) or ground under repair .
