Nestled in the heart of California Gold Country, La Contenta Golf Course wanders through the foothills of the Sierras. Being surrounded by beautiful mountains, the course feels peacefully secluded and enjoys stunning views, yet it is conveniently just a short drive from Sacramento and the San Joaquin Valley. The layout sprawls across a diverse terrain that ranges from lush valleys to grassy meadows. With the up-and-down of the golf course, accuracy is a necessity, especially with large water features coming into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. One particularly memorable hole is the par-3 13th. This scenic hole tumbles down from a dramatic elevated tee. La Contenta Golf Course has been one of northern California's most popular public courses for more than three decades.

Great course for the money and to test your skills

Golfing n Great weather is a recipe for fun regardless of score. Course is ok greens needs work but overall a fun and challenging course.
Condition of La Contenta
I have been playing La Contenta for years and cannot remember conditions like they are now. I would normally recommend to others; perhaps in the spring
Perfect weather and the pace was great.
Really perfect autumn weather and the pace was great. There were wet spots due to overwatering and the cart paths need to be repaired. Quite dangerous potholes near the tee boxes. Greens were not quite ready yet after punching. Still enjoyed the game.
Beautiful day for golf
Beautiful day for golf in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Course was a little wet and some greens were a little bare.. But it'll come back in the fall had a great time. Will play there more.
Lousy Greens
Greens had numerous bare spots; pretty crappy. Difficult to chip and put through bare spots and sand. Had difficultly, finding a spot to move ball on green to; due to numerous bare spots with sand.
Golf Cart was a goo.
Range was a net with mats; mats were decent.
Chipping/putting green was garbage.
Some fairways were rock hard, with some bare spots, others were soaked in various spots.
Challenging topography though on some holes.
Dog holes
The 1 green has dog holes in green! All the greens have dry spots some up to 1/3 . Other than that its on pretty good shape.
Needs Help
The majority of the greens are in terrible shape. Some of the fairways are fairly dry but I guess that’s to be expected for the time of the year. I cannot wait to play this golf course in a couple of months when maybe it’ll be plush. I love the layout, it’s not very long but it is challenging, despite having a couple of holes that don’t really make sense
Course not in very good condition
I've played this course many times and this is as bad as I've seen it. Most of the greens had numerous dry, cracked patches with no grass which made putting very difficult. Some of the fairways were also in need of maintenance. Wouldn't recommend this course at the present time.
Cost
I booked on Golf now for $20 per player. Whe I arrived to check in they would not honor the price and charged me $30. This seems to happen often when I play there. Local course that I play 2 or 3 times a week.
